1 July, Sugar Maple Lane Lexington Kentucky PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Greg Holt We are well into the summer and halfway through 2016 and the community looks great. With the help of two temporary employees we have completed the mulching of the common beds and the clearing of the Citation fence of invasive vines and tree limbs. The Clubhouse has a new coat of paint with a new gutter system installed to eliminate some of the maintenance issues we have experienced over the years. The maintenance in a community of our size is never ending but we feel progress is being made. The pools have been open for a couple of months and usage is great. We encourage all owners to use our facilities, but we have experienced some issues regarding rules violations. The rules are for the comfort and safety of those who use the pools. We follow the Health Department guidelines as well as a some of our own rules. Also, PLEASE remember to sign-in on the sheet located at the entrance nearest to the office. A few reminders; no animals inside the pool area at any time, no smoking inside the pool area (please use picnic areas), no running on the pool deck, no diving into the pool, no glass (even if covered) inside the pool area and no unsupervised children under 18 inside the pool area. Moving the Board Meeting allows the Board of Directors to conduct business in a more efficient and timely matter. Some of these situations could cause closure of the pool and be a great expense, not to mention a huge liability issue, to the Association. Thank you for your cooperation. Honorable Mention - The Serene Back Yard : Marianne & Tony Parenti, 1053 Palmer Ct. Each of our First Place Winners will have a gold GGGC plaque on display in their yard for a couple of months. When you see ANY of the winners out and about, give them a hearty... CONGRATULATIONS!! Circular Rose Awards Winners: Thank you for making our community a beautiful place to live - and thank you, Griffin Gate residents, for your nominations and for supporting our Garden Club event! LUNCH AT LOCKBOX ON JUNE 22 What a Cool Place! On Wednesday, June 22, thirteen Garden Club members and guests treated themselves to lunch at Lockbox - the restaurant inside the recently opened 21C Museum Hotel in downtown Lexington. The focus there is on locally sourced ingredients - the food was very good. We all shared a big table next to the Vault room. Service was excellent, the venue was great and the company was exquisite. Afterwards, several of us walked through the first floor area and viewed the museum pieces on display - the current exhibit is entitled Dress Up, Speak Up: Costume and Confrontation - interesting and thought-provoking! Our next outing will be in August - details to follow. GAZEBO GARDEN GAB Watering, watering, watering - and pulling the weeds - this will be our theme for the Gazebo garden for the summer months. We very much appreciate the modification to the gazebo watering system - it is now on an automatic timer - thank you for your help! Each week, more of the flowering perennials pop up - it s a new view of the Gazebo garden all over again - so nice! SEND IN YOUR GARDEN CLUB DUES Garden Club Dues - $40 - are now due and payable so that we can gather all the information and work on the Member Booklet. The Dues Form is attached to this newsletter. If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining the Garden Club, please call any Garden Club board member. We look forward to hearing from you! OTHER GARDEN CLUB NEWS The next Garden Club Board Meeting will be Monday, July 11 at 9:15am in the Clubhouse boardroom. All Garden Club members are welcome to attend. The next Program and Social Committees meeting will be Monday, July 11 at 10:00am in the Clubhouse boardroom. We will continue planning for our Summer and Fall events. We are searching for members with an interest in serving on the Garden Club Board. Your help is needed - please give us a call!

PUBLICITY/MEMBERSHIP/FUNDRAISING: Creates Club communications, recruits new members, reminds members of meetings and events; plans fundraising events to support the planting and maintenance of the Gazebo Garden. Being active in the Garden Club will offer many opportunities to work with your friends and neighbors. We continue to be successful through the caring, commitment, and competence or our members.
