Renmark The Riverland s premier over 55s Lifestyle Village MANAGER S REPORT Construction progress of homes 33 and 72 is on schedule, and we should see Mike and Jenny Thomas moving in at home 33 towards the end of July. Please make them welcome. The caravan storage area has been extended further, providing more space and making it much easier to manoeuvre vans while parking. Scott has done a great job of tidying up the men s shed and maintenance shed, providing more room for larger equipment to be stored under cover and be easily accessed such as slasher, mower, tractor etc. The raised garden area near the Cowra Street gate has been replanted with climbing roses and should look much better when if full bloom during summer. We will continue to develop new gardens behind 25,26,27,28,29 now that the new paved pathway is complete. We hope to also extend the big lawn area on the northern side before spring. The Villages Expo at the end of May was quite successful and we hope will result in some potential residents visiting us and maybe staying in the Hospitality House over the next few months. The cooler weather in June has slowed plant growth, however many of the roses and a few shrubs continue to bloom with the sunny days. 2 DIRECTOR S REPORT FROM DAVID The directors main focus recently has been our participation in a Retirement Villages Expo held in late May. Riverside Estate had a stand at the Expo, decked out with photographs of Renmark and the Estate, as well as house plans and general information. We also arranged some giveaways such as drink holders, pens and aprons. Ken worked hard on the Expo preparations and on the stand all weekend and we were also very appreciative of the attendance all weekend of Noel and Judy. We were the only stand to have residents available to promote their village. They did a great job of talking about Renmark and the Riverside Estate lifestyle to the many people who stopped at the Riverside stand. Whilst we were the only non metropolitan based village and we were surrounded by the big corporates, our village offering was very positively received. Thanks again Ken, Noel and Judy. Extensions to the caravan yard makes moving and parking vans much easier. Also more room for trailers. 2

3 RIVERSIDE PROGRESS House #72 Unloading the gyprock and transporting to the front of the house was a tricky manoeuvre. Work has started on laying the bricks on the new Parkland Villa home House #33 The finishing touches are being done on Mike & Jenny s house. Ready for the stone feature to be added to the front of the house The outdoor pergola is completed. 3

Any interested residents are welcome to attend.! Hello Everyone I think we all know that winter has finally arrived with freezing morning temperatures and pretty cold generally! The odd sunny moment when the sun appears is very nice. The biggest event for the garden this month was the removal of all the old plants from along the back fence. (We did this after the rain when ithe soil was nice and damp). They have been replaced with a variety of roses which will put on a good display when they flower. Watering Roster - 2nd Cheryl 9th..Graham & Marie 16th Mazz 23rd John B 30th.John & Yvonne Watering Roster - Aug th Cheryl 13th Graham & Marie 20th Mazz 27th John B There are still a few spinach plants to pick from if you are looking for some greens. The Plant Sale sign is out and there are many potted plants for sale at $2 each. Pruning of the fruit trees and roses should start soon when John L returns. Keep warm! Cheers Cheryl If you are unable to water on your rostered week please organise to swap with someone and let Cheryl know. Water Roster starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. For your convenience, watering day reminders are colour coded on the calendar. Garden club members Graham, Marie & Cheryl plant the new roses while Supervisor Barry props up the shovel. 4

5 SOCIAL CLUB UPDATE Happy Hour - from 6PM every Friday night small plate of nibbles to share Second Friday of the month is Pizza Night PLEASE NOTE: This month the last Friday of the month will be a normal Happy Hour due to Christmas in July luncheon being held on the Sunday 29th. The lucky house draw will be held at this function. 8 COMMUNITY BITS & PIECES Winter has definitely arrived at Riverside. While the mornings have been cold, crisp and some times foggy, the sunshine has been delightful. Beautiful sunrise - thanks Graham & Glenda! Foggy mornings and frost on the ground have been a common sight in the last week or so. COMMUNITY INFORMATION Ken called an informal meeting with residents to discuss how to turn the alarm on and off and also the operational procedure of various other items of equipment in the Rec Centre. An updated how-to for the big screen will be printed up so you don t have to try to remember which button to push. 8

9 JUST FOR FUN Residents have an opportunity to see Denise Drysdale live at the Chaffey Theatre on Thursday, 12th July for $15.50 each. There is a list in the Rec Centre plus a letter outlining more details for this function Note change of day for a trial period 9
