INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose Testing was performed on AMP* CO 10 Gigabit/s Insert, to determine its conformance to the requirements of AMP Product Specification , Rev. B. 1.2 Scope This report covers the electrical, mechanical, environmental and transmission performance of the AMP CO 10 Gigabit/s Insert, manufactured by Tyco Electronics Raychem S. A. The testing was performed between March 17, 2005 and June 7, Conclusion The AMP CO 10 Gigabit/s Insert meets the electrical, mechanical, environmental and transmission performance requirements of AMP Product Specification , Rev. B. 1.4 Product Description The AMP CO 10 Gigabit/s Insert is a connector used to provide a universal connection interface between premise wiring of an office and the user s network of communications equipment. 1.5 Test Samples The test samples were randomly selected from normal current production lots, and the following part numbers were used for test: 15 samples of AMP CO 10 Gigabit/s Insert classified in groups. 2 2. SUMMARY OF TESTING 2.1 Examination of product All Groups All samples submitted for testing were selected from normal current production lots. They were inspected and accepted by the product Assurance Department. 2.2 Input to output Resistance Groups 1 and 3. All initial termination resistance measurements values with low level method were lower than 200mOhm: 65 mohm maximum measured. All final termination resistance measurements values with low level method were lower than 200mOhm: 106 mohm maximum measured. 2.3 Shield Termination Resistance Groups 1 and 3. All initial shield termination resistance measurements values with low level method were lower than 100 mohm: 18 mohm maximum measured. All final shield termination resistance measurements values with low level method were lower than 100mOhm: 40 mohm maximum measured. 2.4 Insulation Resistance Group 1. All initial insulation resistance measurements values were higher than Ω: Ω minimum measured. All final insulation resistance measurements values were higher than Ω: Ω minimum measured. 2.5 Dielectric Withstanding Voltage Group 1. No dielectric breakdown or flashover occurred during the test, having applied 1500 VAC Peak between contacts and shield and 1000 VAC Peak between adjacent contacts. 2.6 Current Carrying Capacity Samples 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. 3 2.7 Transmission Tests Group 2. Samples tested meet the requirements of Transmission tests for Cat 6A according to ISO NWIP 981, and related standards. 2.8 Stress Relaxation Groups 1 and 3. No physical damage occurred to the samples after Stress Relaxation test. 2.9 Corrosion Testing Group 3. No physical damage occurred to the samples after Corrosion test. Rev. A 3 of 5

4 3. TESTS METHODS 3.1 Examination of product ( Reference Standard: IEC 60512, test 1a, 1b ) Product drawings and inspections plans were used to examine the samples. They were examined visually and functionally. 3.2 Contact Resistance and Shield Termination Resistance (Reference Standard: IEC 60512, test 2a) Contact Resistance and Shield Termination Resistance measurements at low level current were made using four terminal technique (Figure 1). Figure Insulation Resistance (Reference Standard: IEC 60512, test 3a) Insulation Resistance was measured between adjacent contacts and between contacts and shield using a megaohmmeter applying 100 V DC. 3.4 Dielectric Withstanding Voltage ( Reference Standard: IEC 60512, test 4a ) A 1000 V DC or AC peak voltage was applied between adjacent contacts during 60 s. A 1500 V DC or AC peak voltage was applied between contacts and shield during 60 s. Maximum leakage current: 5 ma. 3.5 Current Carrying Capacity (Reference Standard: IEC 60512, test 5b) The contact temperature at several current steps was measured. The maximum allowed temperature minus the measured temperature increase was plotted vs. current. 3.6 Transmission Tests ( Reference Standard: ISO NWIP 981 and related standards ) Insertion Loss, NEXT, FEXT and Return Loss were measured according to the standard ISO NWIP Stress Relaxation (Reference Standard: IEC 60512, test 11i) Samples were placed into an oven at 70º C for 500 h. 5 3.8 Corrosion Testing ( Reference Standard: IEC and IEC ) Samples were placed during 4 days in a chamber with: SO 2 = 0.5 ppm (Volume), H 2 S = 0.1ppm (Volume), T = 25º C +/-2º C, HR = 75 % +/-3 %. Rev. A 5 of 5
