WEB BASED GRAPHICAL INTERFACE HSYCO enables the local and remote control of every automation subsystem through a user-friendly Web interface, which is customisable and accessible through the most common wireless devices. The HSYCO control interface is designed for any device running a modern Web browser, such as Windows, Mac and Linux PCs, Smart TVs, Touch Screens, ios, Android or Windows 8 Smartphones and Tablets. HSYCO remote access functionality is easy, fast and secure. SIMPLE AND FAST HSYCO is just more than the traditional Web browsing experience. It will take less than 1/10th of a second from the moment an icon is pressed to the moment the automation system performs the designated action and the updated status is p r e s e n t e d o n t h e screen. Navigation through the control pages can be d e s i g n e d w i t h t h e highest flexibility so to make the use of the graphical interface easy for every one. Remote and local access have the same look and feel and identical user experience. FULLY CUSTOMISABLE The HSYCO standard interface was conceived for portable devices, but it can be completely redesigned to fit many other needs. The HSYCO standard graphical format, also called skin, is optimised to work homogeneously and efficiently on many different devices. HSYCO supports screen rotation, resizing the interface when the screen orientation changes. Both graphics and navigation can be easily tailored to the unique layout and functionalities of any installation. HSYCO offers full support for multilanguage pages and the UTF-8 character set, including simplified Chinese. 1

3 THE MANAGER, A NEW EXPERIENCE The extensive use of tablets and devices with advanced, feature-rich user interfaces has materially increased the development time and the set-up cost of most supervision solutions. HSYCO has a built-in, advanced, Web based configuration center, that makes the control pages generation an easy and straightforward process: the HSYCO Manager. The HSYCO Manager consists in a complete suite of utilities: Settings: for the guided set up of each field system (I/O servers) Admin: for the set up of users, passwords, network settings and system clock System Monitor: displays the key operational parameters of the HSYCO server and the status of the connection with the controlled field systems. File Manager: for the quick upload of images, graphics, icons, application code and other project files Project Editor Tool: makes the design of complex and fully customised interfaces fast and efficient, easily performed by dragging buttons, icons and other graphical objects in place Log Viewer Tool: a powerful debugging and diagnostic utility, lists with different levels of detail all the events on the controlled field systems, giving a complete overview of the operational parameters of each one of them Status Browser: a detailed list of the status of the controlled systems, of the set points of the variable objects in the user interface and the values of all the system variables Wiring Editor: an easy to use end-user logic and scenarios builder KNX Utility: HSYCO offers a complete set of tools to simplify KNX integration, including an ETS4 import utility and automatic KNX devices discovery functions, for an easy and quick integration of complex elements, like thermostats and automation devices BACnet Utility: performs the auto discovery of all BACnet/IP devices available on the network, listing all the objects of a device, and all properties and values of any object instance. It also supports the writing of values to writable properties. Being completely Web based, all these tools can be used from any browser, even from a tablet device. This way, the pages of the HSYCO user interface can be created and maintained using any portable device, both locally and from remote access. When changes are saved, all browsers will automatically reload the new design and the system will be fully updated. 2

4 EASY, FAST AND SECURE REMOTE ACCESS A secure and always available remote control capability is a key feature of any home or building automation system. HSYCO remote access functionality is easy, fast and secure. The HSYCO remote user interface is the same as the one used locally, with the same graphics and same features, with no restrictions or limitations. With a solid Internet connection, performance are similar to local access. The HSYCO server is accessed directly from the Internet, no third party portal is involved. SECURITY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL HSYCO implements the most sophisticated solutions to ensure protection against unauthorised access or any other security threat. The use of SSL cryptography guarantees the integrity and the confidentiality of the low level communication between the server and the Web browser running the user interface. 3 At a lower level, HSYCO relies on very long authorisation keys to transfer the information and validate each client device. Further features are implemented to prevent security attacks. The user and the device are authenticated with two codes, called PIN and PUK.

Information can be routed via , SMS messaging, activation or triggering of safety/ security systems, DMTF tones and, finally, via the HSYCO powerful and unparalleled text-to-speech functionality. HSYCO can send and receive SMS messages, providing information on any event, on a regular basis or as a back up in case of failure of the Internet connection. 6 VOIP TOUCH BY HSYCO Full VoIP telephony and Intercom features can be extended to Touch PCs. Thanks to the VoIP TOUCH by HSYCO all VoIP telephony and intercom functionalities can be integrated with the field system supervision in a touch PC with built-in speaker and microphone. VoIP TOUCH by HSYCO is an elegant and stable solution, available in different size, with capacitive or resistive touch panels, ready to adapt to different installation environments. HSYCO can coordinate multiple touch screens, locally or from remote access. For energy preservation and to increase security, each touch screen can be configured to be normally locked and in stand by, automatically turning on when an event occurs, for example when a nearby presence is detected. Thanks to HSYCO VoIP integration, the touch screen can be used to open doors and gates via http or DTMF tones. 5

LIGHTING AND AUTOMATION HSYCO graphical pages provide smooth and flawless control of single lights, groups of lights, DALI and RGB lighting devices. Scenarios can be configured, and easily ch a n g e d wh e n n e e d e d, t o c r e a t e scenographic effects or to save energy. Different lighting technologies can be Automations are controlled in the same intuitive way; a simple click on each icon can open, stop and close gates, windows, awnings and shutters, or any other automated device. The status of each light or automation is clearly visible on the control page, providing a direct visual feedback when one of them is pressed. Pictures or live camera images can be associated to each icon and be displayed next to it at every touch. To increase energy efficiency and improve environmental comfort, HSYCO can be configured to use data from light sensors, weather stations or on-line sources to automatically adapt lighting intensity, and adjust shades and shutters position. DMX CONTROL DMX512 is a communication protocol originally designed for the control of scenographic lighting systems and special effects. It is now becoming more and more popular for the automation of RGB color 6

8 lights, such as LED lights. The HSYCO standard DMX control object displays the brightness level of each channel and the status (on/off) of each DMX light. HSYCO can combine multiple DMX busses and manage a w i d e n u m b e r o f devices, using highspeed dedicated DMX /IP interfaces or the native DMX gateways of the field automation systems. The DMX Merge functionality is fully supported on selected DMX gateways. DALI CONTROL THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT HSYCO ability to coordinate diverse field systems unleashes unparalleled possibilities to the creation of scenographic and e n v i r o n m e n t a l e f f e c t s. D i f f e r e n t combinations of lights, automations, audio and video devices, text-to-speech and fragrances control become the building blocks of sophisticated, innovative and fully customised effects for residential and business settings. Scenarios can be defined, activated or changed manually, following a timed sequence, or when a specific event is detected, from local or remote access. DALI stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface and is an industry standard protocol for lighting systems, widely used in both building and residential premises. HSYCO integrates DALI devices natively via the Tridonic controllers, or through the standard bus controllers, such as KNX s. DALI lights can be displayed and controlled together with others based on different technologies. Combined scenarios can be defined and easily modified when needed, providing integrated, flexible control for all lighting systems. 7 TEMPERATURE AND AIR QUALITY CONTROL HSYCO provides comprehensive overview and seamless management of temperature control systems. HSYCO can interface small and large plants at the same time. Temperature, humidity and CO2 values, together with readings from specialised air quality control sensors, can be used as input for environmental control systems. All values are clearly displayed on the HSYCO control interface, together with setpoints, operation modes and other key operating parameters, enabling complete supervision of the global settings and of each temperature zone.

9 H S Y C O c a n c o o r d i n a t e m u l t i p l e, independent temperature control systems, increasing their efficiency and effectiveness. A powerful scheduling functionality is available to define the power-on calendars of each systems and all exceptions. The HSYCO temperature control interface can be accessed locally and remotely. Smooth, integrated control is very convenient in itself when used locally, but becomes an absolute necessity when the heating and cooling systems must be managed from remote access. More important, such functionalities are key to define and implement fully customised energy saving and cost control strategies. HSYCO supports the native communication protocols used by heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems of several leading manufacturers, and can be integrated via automation bus control with many third party temperature, air conditioning and VMC control units. In small sized installations, stand-alone A/C units can be controlled via infrared commands. HSYCO offers support of the BACnet protocol for building automation and control networks. HSYCO can retrieve and store data from a variety of environmental sensors, providing a graphical representation of actual values and historical trends, plus formatted files ready for download. HSYCO can use all these data to fine tune the settings of the temperature control systems and to send warning messages when the operating conditions are outside predefined standards. The data displayed and exported from the HSYCO database are a valuable support for optimising the usage of the temperature control systems itself, and a key enabler to 8

HSYCO can receive technical alarms from the HVAC systems, notify maintenance, activate contingency scenarios and send messages or alerts if an issue is not properly and timely resolved. This way, HSYCO becomes a key support tool for any building manager. SYSTEM INTEGRATION AND SCENARIOS A scenario is a combination of settings, such as room temperature, lighting and appliances status (like the multi-room music system and home theatre system, or even the coffee machine), working together to create an overall living experience tailored to the requirements of the users. HSYCO is key to make different systems functioning smoothly and efficiently in an integrated way, overcoming potential issues created by the diverse protocols and standards used by each one of them. For example, according to the status of the security system, lights can be turned on or off, shutters can be open or closed, video recording from the surveillance camera can be started or stopped. Complex scenarios can be defined in HSYCO, where actions depend on sophisticated programming logic and special conditions, combining events from different field systems. HSYCO can activate the scenarios that have been configured within each of the controlled field systems. Chains of events for separate systems can be triggered simultaneously. IRRIGATION, TIMERS, ALARM CLOCKS HSYCO provides a very simple interface for alarm clocks as well as for timers turning on 9

11 When local weather data - such as rain and wind conditions - are available on the Internet or when a weather station is installed, HSYCO uses these information to control the irrigation system, eliminating the installation and maintenance costs of rain detection sensors. For business installations, HSYCO provides a powerful scheduling module, designed for coordinating the functionalities of many different systems. Complex scheduling rules are supported, together with calendars, interval operations, daily programs. Each timer is assigned a priority, so there s no need to change the main schedule to cover for exceptions. Timer configuration and management is a guided, user friendly process. ENERGY MANAGEMENT When an integrated control system is installed, all energy resources in a building are automatically used in a more efficient way. Even in simple implementations, the possibility of differentiated control of the heating and cooling systems by room or area, windows and blinds automatic closing while leaving or at night, accurate shading of all rooms and a precise and powerful lighting control are key to generating remarkable savings. HSYCO supports all these functionalities with unparalleled flexibility and simplicity, enabling the set up of cleverly customised energy management solutions. The efficient use of energy requires an accurate knowledge on how and where it is used in the first place. HSYCO offers an intuitive yet complete representation of the statistical data on resource usage: electricity, water, temperature readings, HVAC system power on time, lighting usage and intensity for any designated room or area of the building. All these data are collected and presented with real-time hourly, daily and monthly charts, with no preset time limit, and are also available for download. Data trends can also be displayed. HSYCO supports the Modbus TCP Client/ Server and Modbus RTU Master protocols. This makes it easy to interface controllers, 10

12 sensors, metering devices and PLC based systems in order to collect information about data readings and operational parameters. Again, this data can be presented in aggregated or detailed form on the control interface and also used to implement energy efficiency scenarios. The scheduling functionality embedded into HSYCO enables a very refined control of the operating parameters and of the power on time of all the energy usages in a household or a building. MULTI-ROOM MUSIC A m u l t i - r o o m m u s i c s y s t e m i s a combination of connected devices that distribute music from several sources to different areas of a house or a building. Local zones can b e c o n t r o l l e d i n d e p e n d e n t l y one from each other. Multi-room music players can b e c o n n e c t e d either through a d e d i c a t e d b u s cabling system or via standard LAN. HSYCO integrates systems of both types. The user interface replicates the control keypads, while also allowing full customisation of the control logic. The multi-room music system can thus be managed from portable devices, locally and remotely. Common functionalities include: music source selection, music library browsing, multiple zones synchronisation and desynchronisation. Thanks to the HSYCO configuration center, the HSYCO MANAGER, any multi room system with a serial or IP control protocol can be easily integrated in the HSYCO control interface. For selected systems, a dedicated graphical object is already included in the standard HSYCO interface. For example, music can be played when presence is detected in a room, or when the light is turned on, and turned off when the exit or night scenario is activated. HOME THEATER HSYCO supports the logic needed to control multiple audio and video devices in a media room or home theater set up with different sources, thus combining IR controlled devices with the ones directly managed over the local network or via RS-232. HSYCO acts as a universal remote c o n t r o l u n i t, w i t h a c o m p l e t e l y customisable user interface. 11

13 This way a single device such as a tablet, a smartphone or an ipod touch can replace many traditional remote controls, in any location in the building, locally and remotely. HSYCO is flexible and expandable, so it can be configured to match the very specific integration needs, both in terms of products and functionalities, that are typical of the elaborated world of high-end video distribution. For example, using both serial and LAN protocols, HSYCO can control HDMI video matrix switches and modern home theater devices, forging a system very simple to use out of a complex maze of different products. with all the other home or building automation systems. VIDEO SURVEILLANCE HSYCO integrates with modern networkbased digital video cameras to provide live and recorded images. All the key features of a complete video surveillance system are already in HSYCO. This comes with the additional benefits and flexibility of a fully integrated system. The HSYCO Web based user interface for video cameras visualisation and control is highly configurable, very effective and easy to use from any device running a Web browser, such as PCs, smartphones, tablets, iphone, ipod touch and ipad. The video streams are optimised to guarantee performance even when connected through a basic 3G network. Last but not least, the functionalities of the distributed video system can be coordinated Video recording can be triggered by camera-detected motion events as well as by any other event in the connected systems, including the anti intrusion, fire/gas detection and access control systems or door locks. Recordings can be conveniently browsed using a scrollable pull down list in the video surveillance page. 12

14 HSYCO can automatically send s with live or recorded video frames. HSYCO supports PTZ video cameras (i.e., with Pan - Tilt - Zoom functionality). The control of orientation, zoom and focus can be smoothly performed by clicking on specific areas inside the camera image. PTZ cameras pre-set positions can be controlled as well. Different combinations of video cameras, even installed in multiple locations, can be defined to create matrix pages (grids). HSYCO can present the camera images grids on the display of Snom VoIP phones. In order to comply with privacy regulations, HSYCO can be configured to automatically delete all recorded videos after a predefined amount of time which can be different for each camera. The recording function can be disabled for one or more video cameras. Users can access the cameras images according to their specific profile; access can be completely or partially restricted. Thanks to the text-to-speech functionality, HSYCO can route information and alarm m e s s a g e s t h r o u g h t h e c a m e r a s microphones. This features leads the way to the design of innovative applications where field systems and camera motions events trigger text-tospeech messages. These applications have a wide range of implementations, spanning from security and safety, to comfort and ease of usability and to solutions aimed at increasing the independence of disabled or elderly people. ANTI INTRUSION Thanks to the HSYCO integration engine, complex and sophisticated security systems can be implemented by combining the functionalities of state-of-the-art anti intrusion, access control, fire/gas/water alarms, localisation and video surveillance systems with field automation, networking and telephony. For example, lights and camera recording can be turned on when a sensor detects a presence in a room, or the armoured shutters can be automatically closed when perimeter sensors are triggered. Thanks to the text-tospeech functionality, voice alert messages can be broadcasted through the multi-room speaker system, via the speaker on Axis digital cameras or sent to the VoIP telephones from Snom. HSYCO integrates with many leading anti intrusion systems, reading and displaying the real-time status of the main unit and of 13

15 all sensors, both locally and from remote access. All events can be permanently saved in HSYCO log files. A complete log is visible on the control page. The standard user interface replicates the graphics and the look and feel of the anti intrusion system control panel. The HSYCO integration with the anti intrusion systems is performed through manufactures supplied protocols. The security and data encryption of the anti intrusion set up is preserved completely. There s no need for third party gateways. The control is smooth, flexible and secure. Also, we support each system through its evolution over time. HSYCO supports full bi-directional communication with a GSM modem, implementing IVR (interactive voice response) features on incoming and outgoing calls, for phone messaging with text-to-speech. Full VoIP telephony and Intercom features can be extended to the VoIP Touch by HSYCO touch PC. O n l a r g e p r o j e c t s, H S Y C O c a n simultaneously control and integrate multiple anti intrusion systems, creating a full featured customised security control interface for professional installations. FIRE DETECTION HSYCO integrates with fire detection systems from leading manufacturers. The complete control panel can be replicated on the HSYCO interface. The status of all sensors and alarms can be displayed in a comprehensive view on a graphical map, combined with the information from other security systems, such as anti intrusion, access control, video surveillance, localisation, gas and water leak detection. HSYCO is the ideal supervision tool for large scale projects, thanks to its unparalleled capability to simultaneously control multiple fire detection main units, even from different manufacturers. In addition to the integrated web based control interface, that can be accessed by any PC or mobile device running a modern web browser, HSYCO, thanks to its digital signage functionality, can display a combined overview of the status of all the security systems, for example of the anti intrusion, the access control and the fire detection, on dedicated control room monitors. SAFETY AND SECURITY HSYCO can integrate with many different sensors to enhance the safety and the security of the environment. , SMS and telephone alerts can be sent out when a safety alarm is detected. 14

16 Text-to-speech notification messages can be broadcasted to specific areas or throughout the entire building. Reactive scenarios can be configured. For example, when a gas leak is detected, HSYCO can automatically shut off the main inflow, thus avoid potentially dangerous situations. HSYCO has a sophisticated leak detection functionality, which adds flow analysis to sensors readings, extending the protection beyond bathroom and kitchens and to the whole building. This feature is the key for water leaks early detection and for damage avoidance. While a sensor can only detect a water leak after the spill has already happened, HSYCO flow analysis can alert of unusual, small and continuous flows within the pipes, well before walls, floors, furniture and equipment are soaked. HSYCO can also interface traditional water leak sensors. Many safety scenarios can be configured in HSYCO for the protection of elderly or disabled people. Text-to-speech announcements can notify people with vision impairment or mobility limitations on any event occurring on the automation and security systems or on any scenario activated by HSYCO. Lights turning on automatically on specific events can also avoid dangerous accidents. VoIP telephony systems, the VoIP touch by HSYCO or portable devices can be used to send alarms and requests for help or assistance. LOCATION SERVICES Real time location systems can identify people and objects and determine their position inside and outside a building or a pre-defined area even in large facilities, where GPS-based technologies are not applicable. HSYCO integrates with the Wi-Fi based location systems and enables the 15 development of sophisticated breakthrough applications by using the position information for field systems control and to enhance the effectiveness of the safety and security systems. Some of these applications can be very simple and inexpensive, such as those based on the identification of the access point to which each controlling device is connected. They can be easily implemented through the HSYCO configuration center, the HSYCO MANAGER. Sophisticated implementations are made possible by the integration between HSYCO and the highly innovative technology of Ekahau, a leading provider of RTLS (Real Time Location Services) solutions. 17 Thanks to HSYCO, the Ekahau tags can be dynamically configured to open doors, turn on lights or activate music depending on each tag position. The security, safety and video surveillance systems can be fully coordinated with the localisation services. In addition, HSYCO secure remote access functionality makes all these information available just everywhere on any Tablet, Smartphone or PC. Traditional location systems often require a dedicated and expensive infrastructure. The RTLS solution provided by HSYCO and Ekahau exploits a standard Wi-Fi network to achieve a fine precision, avoiding the installation and maintenance costs of proprietary hardware. The HSYCO location services can be implemented on multiple building locations, enabling efficient and sound centralised management of the security and safety systems. ACCESS CONTROL HSYCO offers a complete user interface for the management of Access Control functionalities. HSYCO stores and display the transit data on a summary page. A filter functionality is available to facilitate searching. HSYCO supports the HID EDGE SOLO devices from HID Global and other primary access control systems. The combined solution of HSYCO and HID EDGE SOLO is powerful, scalable and reliable. OPERATIONAL DATA AND FIELD READINGS COLLECTION AND STORAGE Thanks to its unparalleled capability of data interchange with a large number of diverse systems, HSYCO is the perfect tool to collect operational data and field readings. All data are stored in the HSYCO database, and automatically backed up. They can be exported, manually or automatically to.csv files or sent via JDBC to a relational database. The data reporting pages are completely customisable in terms of size, background, window composition and transition speed. All pages are dynamically created and can be presented either on the web interface or send to a video screen. HSYCO pages for content presentation may also include a choice of graphical elements, video camera feeds, field data, images and text. All HSYCO data presentation pages can be configured and updated on-line, both in local and remote access. CHARTS AND DIAGRAMS The HSYCO DATA LOGGER includes many useful tools for data presentation and analysis: a charting functionality with a wide choice of different colours and graphics for data presentation. 20 PROCESS REPORTING - INFO PANELS HSYCO is the ideal tool to create process or shop floor on-line control reporting. Sensors data readings, timers status and activation times, counters measurements, camera images and external data can be combined to provide a complete picture and an effective historical log of many different systems. The same reporting tool can be used for corporate information panels showing, for e x a m p l e, a n a p p e a l i n g g r a p h i c a l representation of the key environmental data in a business establishment or the energy consumption statistics for a sustainable building. DIGITAL SIGNAGE Digital Signage is an effective form of advertising and business communication. Contents are presented on electronic screens placed in public locations. While HSYCO is not a traditional digital signage solution, it offers most of the popular features of dedicated system, while adding remarkable integration capabilities and unlimited customisation. HSYCO enables the design of highly customised layouts for digital signage pages. Content is managed from the same HSYCO Web interface used for lighting, automation, security and video surveillance. Wherever you are, just use your phone to control all your systems and change the digital signage content at the same time. HSYCO provides full customisation of the user interface in terms of background, size, page layout, page transition rate.
