The EDT is supported in its normal operating position inside the test chamber in which talcum powder is maintained in suspension. The duration ofthe test is eight hours. The protection is satisfactory if no deposit of dust is observable inside the enclosure at the end of the test. After the test no dust found inside the EDT. 2 IPX8: (Temporary Immersion in water Test) Ensure the Degree of Protection provided by the enclosure against water by using following test: Method The EDT is completely immersed in the water. The surface ofthe wilier shall be at least 150 mm above the highest poin(ofthe item. The lowest portion of the item shall be at least 1 meter below the surface ofthe water. The duration ofthe test is Ihr. The water temperature shall not differ from that of the item by more than 5 C. After completion of test the item shall be removed from the water and visually examined for the ingress of water inside the item. Requirement Ingress ofwater shall not be sufficient to interfere the satisfactory operation ofthe equipment. No water found inside. the EDT.
