3 Product Description The arched trumpet rod pocket valance is our most popular valance so far. The valance features a flat section in an arched shape and unique trumpets that are lined with a contrasting fabric. Multiple valances can also be used to cover each window section of bay windows or bow windows. Each valance is fully lined with premium white lining. Interlining is optional. Trims are also optional but highly recommended as they give the valance a more beautiful shape. If you choose a fabric with large cameo prints, they will be centered onto each valance whenever possible. 7 Step-by-Step Ordering Guide To order the arched trumpet valance, you must use our design tool. Our design tool lets you choose from over 1,200 fabrics and other customizable options such as sizes, trims, linings and more. To start your design, click here. You will have to go through a series of steps to design your product. If you are ready to purchase the product, you can click on the Add to Cart button. Step 1 Main Fabric: Here, you get to select the fabric for valance. Remember that the valance will be lined in our premium white lining, free of charge. 7 Home and Design. 8 Step 2 Accent Fabric: Choose the accent fabric. This is the fabric that will be used to line the trumpets. We suggest solids or small-scale fabrics. Ideally, the fabric should be a pronounced contrast to the fabric chosen in step 1. Step 3 Trim: You may also opt to add trim to your custom valance. This selection is optional; if you do not wish to add trim, you can simply skip this step without making any choices. Step 4 Width: The arched trumpet valance can be made in the following widths only: 35 to 48 inches (single arch) 64 to 96 inches (double arch) 97 to 132 inches (triple arch) 8 Home and Design. 9 First, measure the width of your window, including the window frame, if any. Add 2 ½ to 4 inches. This should be the width that you order. Note that if you will be adding draperies underneath the valance, you may wish to add an extra 10 to 20 inches to make the window appear larger (if space permits). SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAY, BOW AND CORNER WINDOWS: You will need to make sure that there is enough space between each window section. We recommend at least 7 inches of space between each window section for bay and bow windows and at least 8 inches of space between corner windows (if no draperies are installed underneath valance). You may need to join adjacent decorative poles with a hinged elbow to save space. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARCHED AND PALLADIUM WINDOWS: Follow measuring instructions above. 10 Step 5 Length: Choose a length for the valance, excluding trim. You may select a 19, 21, or 23-inch length. We only recommend a length of 23 inches for valances installed higher than 10 feet from the floor. Also be mindful that adding trim to a valance makes it appear longer. Step 6 Lining: The valance is lined in premium white lining. In addition, you may also select felt thermal interlining to go between the two layers of fabric, which will give the valance a better shape and make it fuller and heavier Home and Design. 11 Measuring and Installation Recommendation Measuring Instructions: This valance can be made 36 to 48 and 64 to 132 inches wide. The arched trumpet valance is best if installed as an outside mount only. First, we recommend that you measure your window width. See page 8 for instructions. 12 Frequently Asked Questions Can this valance be gathered? No, this valance is meant to hang flat, as shown. Can I install draperies over this valance? This valance works best if draperies are installed underneath, not over it. How long is the valance? At the lowermost point, the valance can either be 19, 21, or 23 inches long. This measurement excludes any trims. Thus, keep in mind that a shorter length will be sufficient if trim is chosen. What kind of accent fabric should I choose? First, you should choose a fabric that differs from the face fabric. Solids or small-scale patterns in a contrasting color should work. 13 personally recommend a contrast rather than choosing the same colors as the face fabric. What kind of curtain rod do I need for this valance? You will need a decorative pole up to 1 5/8 inches in diameter. Can I install this valance with draperies underneath? Yes, but you have to make sure that the drapery pole for the valance projects at least 5 inches away from the wall. This is needed to clear enough room for the draperies to be installed underneath. What kinds of trims do you suggest? I'm afraid that I will pick the wrong kind. Each product has already been configured to allow you to choose only trims that will work with it. Short trims are not offered on valances with deep, voluminous folds and similarly, big and bulky trims aren't an option when it comes to scalloped products with sharp edges and curves 13 Home and Design. 14 that need to be sewn with utmost attention to detail. Feel free to choose any trim that the product allows in its selection. And remember, colors don't have to match exactly, but they need to go together. Why is the fabric that I like not available from the selection?
