3 Product Description This beautiful window valance works in virtually any room. It comes in many different widths to accommodate even the most difficult windows. Because it is installed using drapery medallions and not curtain rods, it can even accommodate a slightly curved wall. If you choose a fabric with large prints, they will be centered onto each scallop. Each valance is fully lined with quality drapery lining. Interlining is optional. The valance features 2-inch tabs and should be installed using drapery medallions (or tiebacks). Valance length, excluding trims, is 22 inches and is measured from top of each tab to the deepest scallop point when hung. Drapery medallions and other hardware not included. 7 Step-by-Step Ordering Guide To order the medallion swag valance, you must use our design tool. Our design tool lets you choose from over 1,200 fabrics and other customizable options such as sizes, trims, linings and more. To start your design, click here. You will have to go through a series of steps to design your product. After you have chosen a custom component, you will need to keep clicking on Move to Next Step until you finally finish your custom design. If you are ready to purchase the product, you can click on the I m Finished Review and Add to Cart button. Step 1 Fabric: Here, you get to select the fabric for the flat swags and front of the trumpets. Remember that these flat swags will be lined in our premium white lining. If you want to narrow down the fabric choices, you can check the desired fabric categories that you are looking for for example, if you know you want a 7 May not be edited or distributed.

This means that the fabric is part of a color family. Color families are groupings of coordinating fabrics, trims and wall paint colors that you may use as an additional design aid. Step 2 Accent Fabric: Next, select the accent fabric. The accent fabric is used for the inside lining of each trumpet. Step 3 Trim: You may also opt to add trim to your custom valance. This selection is optional; if you do not wish to add trim, you can simply skip this step without making any choices. (We highly recommend adding trim to this valance.) Step 4 Width: This valance can be made between 20 and 152 inches wide. First, we recommend that you measure your window width. If your window is framed in wooden molding, make sure to include it in your measurement as well. Add 2 to 4 inches to this measurement. SPECIAL MEASURING INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAY WINDOWS (for outside mount): Option 1 Separate Valances for Each Window Section: If your bay window is separated by walls, then you should order separate valances for each window section. Simply measure your individual window widths, including any wooden molding around the window, and add 2 to 4 inches. This option will work if there is at least a 6-inch wall space between each individual window. 9 May not be edited or distributed.

10 Option 2 One Valance for Entire Window: If there is not enough wall space between each window, but rather, you have one wide unit of windows, then you will need to order one extra wide valance to span across the entire bay window. STEP 1: Measure the width of the center wall (not window!) and write down this measurement. We will refer to it as measurement A. STEP 2: Measure from the edge of the center wall to the outer edge of the left window (measurement B). Add 1 to 2 inches (measurement C). Add B and C together (B+C). Repeat for the right window (D+C). STEP 3: Now you have three window sections: A, B+C, and D+C. Add all those numbers (A+B+C+D+C). This is the total width for your valance. 11 the table below to determine how many swags your valance will have: Total Width of Valance in Number of Swags Inches STEP 4: Now divide A+B+C+D+C by the number of swags from the table above. This is how wide each swag will be. Now take a look at the three numbers again: A, B+C, and D+C. Are they divisible by the determined width of each swag? If so, then this valance will work on your bay window. EXAMPLE: Susan decides that she wants to purchase the medallion swag valance for her bay window. 12 span across the entire window. She takes measurements and determines that her center wall is 56 inches wide (measurement A). From the edge of the center wall to the outer edge of her side windows are 34 inches (measurements B and D). She adds an allowance of 1 inch (measurement C). She adds those measurements (A+B+D+C+D = = 126) and determines that she will need a valance that is 126 inches wide. From the table on page 11, she finds that her valance will have 7 swags and that each swag will be about 18 inches wide (126 / 7 = 18). She goes back to her three window sections, which were 56, 35 and 35 inches wide. She divides each number by 18: 56/18 = 3.1 (swags), 35/18 = 1.94 (swags). Great! The center of her bay window will have 3 swags and her two side windows will each have two swags (It is acceptable if you do not get perfectly round numbers in this case, 3.1 and 1.94 correspond to 3 and 2 swags. 13 Step 5 Lining The trumpets are lined in the accent fabric chosen and the swags are lined in premium white lining. In addition, you may also select felt thermal interlining to go between the two layers of fabric, which will give the valance a better shape and make it fuller and heavier May not be edited or distributed.

14 Measuring and Installation Recommendation Measuring Instructions: This valance can be made between 20 and 152 inches wide. First, we recommend that you measure your window width. If your window is framed in wooden molding, make sure to include it in your measurement as well. If this valance is an outside mount, add 2 to 4 inches to this measurement; if the valance is a frame mount, do not add any extra width. For French doors, measure this width of the pane glass section, not the door, and only add 1.5 to 2 inches. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAY AND BOW WINDOWS IF YOU WOULD LIKE SEPARATE VALANCES ON EACH WINDOW: For an outside mount, make sure that there is at least 6 inches of space between each window. For a frame mount, make sure that there is at least 3 inches of space between each window (NOTE: You may choose one valance to span across all the window sections instead - see pages 9-12 for an example measurement for outside mounts) May not be edited or distributed.

15 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CORNER WINDOWS: For corner windows, you will need to have a separate valance on each window. If you have chosen an outside mount, make sure that there is at least 7 inches of space between each window. For a frame mount, make sure that there is at least 4 inches of space between each window. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FRENCH DOORS: Measure the width of the glass panes (not the door!). Add 1.5 to 2 inches. That should be the width that you order. Note that this valance will only work on wooden French doors. Do not install onto steel doors. TIP: If you will add draperies underneath this valance and space permits, you can create the illusion of a wider window. 16 Installation Instructions: This valance is installed onto drapery medallions (also referred to as drapery holdbacks), which are readily available at your local curtain hardware store. Hardware not included. If you decide to install draperies underneath the valance, make sure that the medallions extend at least 5 ½ inches from the wall May not be edited or distributed.

17 Frequently Asked Questions What do I need to know about drapery medallions? Drapery medallions are sometimes referred to as drapery holdbacks, drapery tiebacks, or drapery knobs. You will need them to install this valance. Usually, you will need to purchase the decorative knob, as well as a post adapter or extender that is attached to the knob. Both parts are readily available at local decorator fabric stores and sometimes in home improvement stores too. Can this valance be installed onto the window frame? Yes, it can be installed onto the wall or window frame. See instructions above. Can I install this valance with draperies underneath? Yes, but you have to make sure that the projection of the entire holdback is at least 5 ½ inches. When purchasing the post adapter or extender for the holdbacks, make sure that it projects at least 5 1/2 inches from the wall May not be edited or distributed.

18 Will this valance work on a French door? Yes, it will work as an inside mount, installed onto the window panes of wooden French doors. See instructions above. What kinds of trims do you suggest? I'm afraid that I will pick the wrong kind. Each product has already been configured to allow you to choose only trims that will work with it. Short trims are not offered on valances with deep, voluminous folds and similarly, big and bulky trims aren't an option when it comes to scalloped products with sharp edges and curves that need to be sewn with utmost attention to detail. Feel free to choose any trim that the product allows in its drop-down list. And remember, colors don't have to match exactly, but they need to go together. Why is the fabric that I like not available from the selection? Likely, it is inappropriate and would jeopardize the shape and look of the valance. Thus, we have not made such fabrics available as a choice May not be edited or distributed.
