MACROPLAN Macroplan is a Town & Regional Planning firm based in Upington, with a satellite office opening in Kimberley in January There are also independent offices (trading under the same name) in Cape Town and George, not forming part of the Gobetla Planning group (Gebetla Beplannings Dienste CC). Macroplan was established in 1986 by three town planners with offices in Upington, Kimberley and Cape Town, making it the oldest town planning firm in the Northern Cape Province. The Upington office is currently located in 4A Murray Avenue and has been serving an extended client base in the Province for over 28 years. During , Macroplan had the opportunity to establish itself as one of the leading Planning Firms in the Northern Cape with the redesigning of our office building, demolishing the old building and rebuilding an office in 4A Murray Avenue that has become an Architectural beacon in the old CBD of Upington. The new office building was designed on the old premise, in order to show the utilisation of space to the utmost and to establish a building that harmonises with nature. From the list of our existing clients it can be noted that we serve the local and surrounding municipalities, giving us an unequalled working knowledge of the area and its people. Simultaneously, the company also provides planning services to a broad private client base, placing it in a favourable position with regards to public-private relations. The fact that Macroplan is situated in Upington, with a branch office opening in Kimberley, ensures that we are basically on site and have no problem travelling to any part of the Northern Cape. Exceptional Projects in more detail: Green Energy Projects (Solar and Wind) in the Northern Cape Province: Macroplan has been involved with 67 different applications for Green Energy Projects throughout the province, including applications for rezoning and long term lease agreements. We have been involved with the Abengoa site about 20km west of Upington, which is now one of the largest Solar Towers in the Southern Hemisphere. Land Use Management System of //Khara Hais Municipality and the alignment with SPLUMA: Macroplan was appointed by Rural Development and Land Reform to update the existing Land Use Management System (LUMS) of //Khara Hais Municipality and to align it with SPLUMA. This project was done on a GIS format, incorporating all the new Spatial Planning Categories (SPC s) of the Provincial SDF and rewriting the existing Scheme Regulations to incorporate this. This is a project that we are very proud of and are seen as the leaders in the Northern Cape Province in establishing this very difficult project. 3.
