2 Tweed Landcare meeting The next Tweed Landcare meeting is Wednesday 15 February, 6.00 pm at the Murwillumbah Services Club meeting room. Everyone welcome. We will now have a session at the start of each meeting for members to raise issues or projects. Please to Secretary secretary@tweedlandcare.org.au with agenda items. Membership feedback on Tweed Landcare Strategic Plan Over the last six months the Tweed Landcare Inc Committee has been working to develop a five year Strategic Plan. A Strategic Plan provides a roadmap for where we want to go - it outlines a vision and mission, goals and priorities. It also helps to identify areas where we can improve. The Committee participated in a facilitated workshop, follow up prioritisation activity and provided feedback on a preliminary Draft Strategic Plan. The Draft Strategic Plan is now ready to be reviewed and commented on by Tweed Landcare members. This step is very important as the final Strategic Plan should reflect the wider memberships priorities for Tweed Landcare Inc. over the next five years. An Executive Summary is also available for those who do not have time to review the entire Strategic Plan. All feedback is welcome and will be considered prior to finalising the Tweed Landcare Inc. Strategic Plan at the March 2017 General Meeting. If you receive the Newsletter via the Draft Strategic Plan and Executive Summary are attached as separate documents. If you receive a paper copy of the Newsletter the Draft Strategic Plan and Executive Summary are enclosed. Both documents are also available at Please provide feedback by Monday 6 March Feedback can be received: In writing please post to Tweed Landcare Inc. Cudgen Plateau planting day success On 10 th of December 2016 the community was invited to help plant 1000 native riparian plants on a local farm on the Cudgen Plateau to help reduce soil erosion and improve biodiversity. Thirteen productive and enthusiastic volunteers including local farmers, local Tweed residents, Tweed Shire Council staff and bush regeneration contractors Jacqui and Lue from Basically Bushland Restoration managed to plant all 1000 plants and get them mulched and watered in. The works were part of the final leg of an Environmental Trust grant Restoring the Waterways of the Cudgen Plateau awarded to Tweed Shire Council s Sustainable Agriculture Program, which involved the planting of over 8000 plants along 1.5 km of waterways through one of the Tweed s most intensive agricultural areas. To help maintain and expand upon these important riparian plantings, the community are invited to provide an expression of interest in the formation of a Cudgen Plateau Landcare Group.
