5 Program Highlights In their libraries, the residents of nne rundel County need: More space to display materials on easy-to-reach shelving, Library size increase of 55% to 32,500 SF Increased area to display new and current materials, Bookstore style Popular Materials display area Public computers with adequate working space on either side, 35 public computer stations with ifi capability throughout + future laptop check-out Comfortable furniture for reading and conversing, Community Living Room and additional seating throughout dditional meeting room space for community groups and businesses, Large Meeting Room space more than quadrupled Increased space for teens and children s areas, Children / Teen areas doubled in size New vending areas, and Vending in Café style seating area Space for tutoring and small group collaborative workspaces. New medium size meeting room and six smaller collaborative workspaces, none of which currently exist 1410 EST STREET, NNPOLIS, MD
6 est Street Site The nnapolis Public Library is located at 1410 est Street, nnapolis MD The site is currently 3.90 acres. n adjacent property, 1420 est Street, has been purchased by the County and added to the project area resulting in a total project area of 4.77 acres. The existing library is immediately bordered to the south by est Street (State Maintained Minor rterial Road) and residential areas; and to the east, west and north by existing single family residential dwellings. The main site access is off of est Street with a secondary access point to the north at Poplar Street. The Library site consists of mowed lawn, trees, surface parking and a one-story building. The adjacent property, 1420 est Street, is a vacant lot with several large existing trees. No forest or steep slopes (grades >15%) exist on the properties and the land is generally flat EST STREET, NNPOLIS, MD
7 SUSTINBLE STRTEGIES: LEED Silver Certification mandated by County and City Daylight harvesting, passive solar design Limit parking increase per City negotiations (Parking increase of 17 spaces, or 14%), and introduce areas of area permeable pavement to reduce site impervious PREFERRED SCHEME SITE NLYSIS High performance mechanical and lighting systems SITE CONSIDERTIONS: The use1. of sustainable products; recycled content, low Strong connection to est Street. 2.
