Urban Stitching Rhythm and Stress-free in North Station-Rogier Metro Station Brussels, Belgium Nicolas Mansour The main focal point in my proposal is in the area between the City center and the Northern Quartier which are separated by a highway making the area Living in two Different Worlds, where the downtown area is reduced and thick while the North quartier is scattered, divided and permeable. It goes about as the middle oxygen donner. Much spaces are being empty because of re localisation of a few workplaces. The North Station and Rogier Metro station are the penetrators of the urban tissue to the area. This urban tissue creates a stream/flux which acts as key activation for the design strategy. So within the two areas (North Station-Rogier) and after a survey in the area, a vacant hotel (Sheraton) acts as an anchor point for the design strategy. The core (structure) of the building is to be kept and implement the proposal to the urban trajectory, where the axis from Rogier to North station is to be pedestrianized and the flow of vehicles rerouted. This new car free area nourished the space with a piazza and some kiosks that can be multifunctional keeping in mind the diversity of commercial spaces. After the investigation of the area a rhythm is found where all office workers follow the same rhythm almost everyday feeling stressed all the time due to work. So in my proposal a Stress Free Facility is to be followed in my design strategy with varieties of stress relief.the program is divided in 3 levels, the first part is cultural/social(library, therapy, lecture hall), second physical activities(golf, squash..) and the third part meditation/spirituality (Spa, Yoga, Tai-Chi). Between each level some vacant spaces for further approach.
Living in Different Worlds Magnetic Field North Quartier North Quartier North Station Center Rogier Metro Station Center The City Center and the Northern quartier are seperatedby a highway, where the center is compact and dense while the North Quartier is dispersed, fragmented and porous. It acts as the center Oxygen Doner. Much spaces are being vacant due to Localization of offices. There are two attractional points that penetrate the urban tissues to the two worlds, The North Quariter and Rogier Metro Station in the edge of the city center creating a sense of tension to the area. Urban Contact The Chosen One North Station North Station Rogier Metro Rogier Metro The area between North Station and Rogier Metro Station Is considered to be al/overlapping meeting point, creating a flux which is a key activation for the design strategy Whithin the two areas(north Station-Rogier Station), a vacant building acts as an anchor point of the followed design strategy

The Unfunctional Sheraton Hotel makes this area more intuagaring since it is located at the edge of the Northern Quatier.
Rhythm Flow While invertigating the area for the design proposal, a certain rhytm flow is to be found which is produced by office workers everyday following the same footsteps twice a day, along the main axe Rogier-North Station. Stressfull office workers cannot wait to reach their final destination taking the Metro from Rogier or the Train from the North Station. This rhythm of stressfulness is to be considered in the design proposal, being a breakthrough through of urban intervention and design strategy for the office workers and the meeting of the two seperate worlds
Program: Stress-Free
Current Situation Urban Context The axe Rogier-North is defined by a vehicular route and sidewalks on the sides
Design Proposal Urban Context The design proposal and urban transition consists of pedestrinazing the area creating an open surrounding to the lobbys and gardens found on the ground floors.in this case the roads accesses are to be reduced due to habitats and shifted to the main Boulevard across the street.creating a new rhythm of walking by diversing the axe with multifunctional kiosks to give the path more dynamism. Place Rogier is to be used as a collective space with all the surrondings since its a meeting point.
