If you would like to attend the final commitment ceremony or the MIP Luncheon to be held on June 29, 2014, please contact Soror Tammy Bass-LeSure. The 2014 Boule will be held July 12-18, 2014 in Charlotte, NC. If you will be attending Boule, please provide your name, hotel/roommate, and phone contact number to Soror Cheryl or Soror Collette Houchen. BSO has received an invitation to attend the Boule Installation Reception for Soror Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson at the Charlotte Convention Center on Thursday, July 17, 2014, 10:00 p.m. Sorors are also asked to wear a white top/jacket to the 7 th Plenary Session. Delegates will be voting for the following international positions: 1 st Supreme Anti- Basileus, 2 nd Supreme Anti-Basileus, Supreme Grammateus, Supreme Tamiouchos and Undergraduate Members-At-Large (2). Soror Jan Carpenter Baker will be ratified as the new Mid-Western Regional Director. No recommendations for Bylaws changes will be voted on at this Boule. Beta Sigma Omega placed 2 nd in the large chapter category at the 2014 MWRC for our EYL Program. As a result, we were awarded $ Congratulations to Soror Linda J. Huggins and the Education Committee for executing an award winning program.

2 No chapter meeting for the months of July and August, but various committees will still be meeting and our 2014 Fashionetta will be in full swing. As we receive direction from Soror Jan Carpenter Baker, we will be busy in preparation for the 2015 MWRC which we will be hosting. Once the committee list has been generated, sign-up sheets will be available for sorors. Have a great summer! 1 st Anti-Basileus: Soror Anika Wilson, FILED Mid-Western Region has been asked to donate school supplies (crayons, rulers, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, and calculators) for the 66 th Boule. All supplies will be distributed to the Youth Summit participants. These items will be collected today and shipped to Charlotte, NC (June 23-28, 2014). Soror Wesui Gilmore and the Health Committee are seeking volunteers for the Integris African American Men s Health Fair to be held at Metro Tech Springlake Campus on June 28, Today the Health Committee will be serving cupcakes and punch to those sorors who are cancer survivors in recognition of National Cancer Survivors Day which was June 1 st. The survivors will also be asked to take selfies wearing a tiara and boa. Soror Glimerine Ware and the Education/Scholarship Committee held an Emerging Young Leaders Bridging the Gap for Success Workshop on May 19, 2014 at Oklahoma Centennial Mid-High School. Approximately seventy-five (75) young ladies attended the workshop. Topics presented at the workshop included Keeping Your Hands Off Me, Don t Date You Can Wait, Do s and Don ts of Interviewing and Oklahoma Promise information. Hats off to presenters: Sorors Kelley Edwards, Shante Fenner, Dawn James. Also a special thanks to Soror WyAngela Knight-Singh s son, Christian Singh, who presented the information on the Oklahoma Promise program. The Scholarship Committee submitted the name of Miss Vivian Taylor as the recipient of the BSO Ivy Foundation Scholarship. From Soror Kathy Williams and the Economic Development Committee our Soror Entrepreneur of the Month : Soror Dionne Todd, owner of Creative Kids Daycare Center. Please take time to visit with her today. The BSO Ivy Foundation Scholarship was presented to Miss Vivian Taylor, a student at Midwest City High School. Her winning assay was read to the chapter by Soror Cheryl. Pecunious Grammateus: Soror Brenda Walker for Soror Marsha Cayton, FILED As of May 31, 2014, Beta Sigma Omega has 222 financial sorors. Twelve (12) reactivations and four (4) transfers. Year to Date Income: $55, Tamiouchos: Soror Emilykaye Mitchelson, FILED Operations Checkbook Balance: $45, Operations Savings Account Balance: $20, Programs Checkbook Balance: $11, Total cash on hand as of May 31, 2014: $76, Hodegos: Soror Terri Hurte, FILED Kudos: Sorors Felecia Moriels and Michelle Chapple are new members of the Tau Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; Soror Loraine Liggins will be the keynote speaker at Wildewood Baptist Church, Mind, Body & Spirit Workshop on Saturday, June 21 st. -2-

3 -3- Prayer Requests: Soror Cheryl Williams husband and Soror Devona Whitfield s father, Edward, had surgery; Soror Patricia Kemp was recently hospitalized. She is requesting no visitors at this time, but cards may be sent to her 4325 Woods Drive, OKC, OK Soror Ramona Hollier was recently hospitalized, but is now at home. Cards may be sent to 25 N. 155 th Steet, Edmond, OK 73013; Soror Ameyka Pittman had surgery on June 19 th ; Soror Martina Cox and her husband were hospitalized but now at home and doing well. Soror Claudette Goss, who is caring for her mother, is now dealing with health issues of her own. Let s keep her lifted up in prayer. Sympathy: Soror Wanda Eviage (member of Theta Upsilon Omega Chapter) became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on May 16, Services were held on May 23, 2014 at Frederick First Baptist Church in Frederick, OK. Soror Carmen Butler s cousin, Johnie Nolen, passed on May 16 th. Funeral was held on Friday, May 23 rd at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, OKC. Visiting with us today is Soror Tiffani Bates of Upsilon Theta Omega, Stillwater, OK. Committee Reports Membership: Soror Kjulonda Ogles Williams for Soror Tammy Bass-LeSure, FILED Membership Committee has been busy in preparation for the final weekend of the MIP Candidates for Membership are collecting items today for their community service project at the Wonderfully Made Foundation. Final weekend of the MIP is June 27-29, A full schedule will be forwarded to those members who have completed the chapter orientation. The weekend will come to end with a spectacular Luncheon/Fashion Show featuring our new members. Please come out and support our new members. You may contact Soror Tracy Smith to purchase ($30) your Luncheon ticket. Kudos to Soror Devona Whitfield and the Technology Committee, with the launch of our new website we have received contact from sorors wishing to reactivate or asking for more information about BSO. And a great big thank you to the entire Membership Committee for an awesome job! Sisterhood: Soror Terri Hurte, FILED The Sisterhood Committee met on Monday, June 2, 2014 to revisit the guideline change that was referred back to the committee. The committee proposes the following change: Illness 1. When a soror is confined with a serious illness (in the hospital or in the home), a plant will be sent at a maximum cost of sixty dollars ($60.00) or the soror may choose to accept a monetary donation in the amount of forty dollars ($40.00). A soror with a short term illness will be sent a get well card. If a plant has been sent once to a soror during the sorority year and she becomes ill again at home or returns to the hospital, a card will be sent. Proposed Change: 1.When a soror is admitted to the hospital for at least forty-eight (48) hours, a plant will be sent at a maximum cost of sixty dollars ($60.00) or the soror may choose to accept a monetary donation in the amount of forty dollars ($40.00). A soror with a short term illness will be sent a get well card. If a plant has been sent once to a soror during the sorority year and she becomes ill again at home or returns to the hospital, a card will be sent. Rationale: Due to the fact that hospital stays vary significantly, the forty-eight (48) hour time frame establishes a baseline for sisterly benevolence.

4 Executive Board recommends that the chapter accept the proposed change to the Sisterhood Committee Guidelines as presented (Illness, 1. Standarads: Soror LaTrice Vaughn, FILED The committee met on Thursday, May 22, 2014 and reviewed the evaluations of the Standards Workshop that was held on Saturday, May 3, Eighty-eight (88) percent rated the workshop as excellent, ten (10) percent gave a rating of good and two (2) percent rated the workshop as average. The total expense for the workshop was $ leaving a balance of $ In kind donations totaled $ The committee will be addressing the concerns of sorors by implementing Dear Ivy. A box will be placed at chapter meetings to submit your questions/concerns/suggestions. You may also submit Dear Ivy items through the contact us section of the chapter website. The 2014 Chapter Assessment will be conducted in the October November time frame. The committee has prepared their proposed 2015 budget request at $ June/July Birthday Salute: Soror Wesui Gilmore Unfinished Business: None New Business MOTION: Moved by Soror Deborah H. Burroughs that the chapter instructs the BSO Boule Delegates to vote for BSO members (Soror Maggie W Green, candidate for Supreme Grammateus and Soror Gayle Miles Scott, candidate for Supreme Tamiouchos) at the 66 th Boule and that the delegates caucus prior to voting for the remaining international candidates. Seconded, Motion Adopted. Announcements Soror Joyce Henderson, who is a member of the International Connection Committee, will serve on a subcommittee presenting a Public Education Forum at Boule on July 15, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Detailed information will be forthcoming on the upcoming BSO Chapter Fundraising events. Sorors please get out and vote. Early voting is available today until 2:00 p.m. The National Multicultural Writers Association will be sponsoring a writer s symposium August 23, 2014 at Langston University, OKC from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Fashionetta Committee will be conducting workshops for the participants today at Langston University, OKC, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sorors are asked to wear Pink & Green attire for the Mid-Western Regional Boule Luncheon to be held on Thursday, July 17, Terry Evans Basketball Camp scheduled for June 30 July 3, 2014, University of Central Oklahoma Hamilton Field House. 5 -5- First annual Sickle Cell 5K Run for the Cure is scheduled for August 2, They are seeking donations, volunteers and/or participants. Soror Wesui Gilmore and the Health Committee are seeking volunteers for the Integris African American Men s Health Fair to be held at Metro Tech Springlake Campus on June 28, Rose State College offering workshops for mid-high school students.
