4 > > > > > > > History Recpel Recpel vzw asbl fonded in 2001 on initiative of the indstry and still managed by the indstry Collective system for collection and recycling of Waste Electrical and Electronic Eqipment (WEEE) Offers a national soltion for the take-back obligation as described in the Eropean WEEE directive WEEE landscape is very diverse => creation of several sectorial organisations Sectorial organisations take strategic decisions (bdget, fee, scope etc) with Recpel acting as the exective organisation

9 > > > > > > > Declaration & Invoicing Qarterly electronic declaration of the nmber of pieces pt on the market Recpel sends an electronic invoice to the importer/manfactrer based on the declaration Fee is charged to the wholesaler/retailer and finally to the end-consmer Restittion is possible (e.g in case of export of hosehold appliances)

12 > > > > > > > Collection of Hosehold Appliances Depending on the prodct s condition, there are several possible soltions. 1. If the prodct can be resed, it may be entrsted to a social economy organisation. The prodct will then be cleaned p and sold second-hand at a redced price 2. Prodcts that no longer work can be disposed of in a container park 3. Consmers can bring their sed appliances to retailers whenever they prchase new items. The appliances will then be picked p by Recpel at a later date
