With night coming early, And dawn coming late, And ice in the bucket And frost by the gate. The fires burn And the kettles sing. And the earth sinks to rest Until next spring. Elizabeth Coatsworth President s Message: The November earth may be resting, but the CGCC is not! We have 45 days to continue preparing for our amazing Yuletide House Tour. The decorators have seen their houses and are drawing up their designs, publicity abounds and the Marketplace is filling up. Please come and join us as extra hands are always needed at the workshops. Sign-up sheets will be available at the General Meeting this coming Tuesday for hosting at one the five houses. Hostess positions are for three hours each. Set-up at St. Anthony s will begin on Wednesday, December 6th. We will be in touch. 2 Marketplace Workshops - Save the Dates Please join us on November 16, 21, 29, and 30 at the Lightkeeper's Cottage at 9:30 for some crafting. The workshops are free and we will be making various items for sale at the Yuletide Marketplace. There will be several different crafts at each session so you will always find something suitable to your skills. Members donate arrangements to the South Shore Art Center Art to Table fundraiser Six of our members were kind enough to donate their talents to the Art to Table fund raiser on Saturday, October 21st. Lelia Stokes Weinstein, Carol Geyer, Tania McCann, Heather Frank, Marlene Tabor and Kate Farrington all created arrangements to celebrate the botanical art featured at the event. 5 Garden Therapy at Harborview Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Thanks to Susan Reagan, Sheila Toomey, Jenifer Stockbridge, Ann Helbock and Diane Herth for helping the Elders create beautiful fall arrangements. 18 people attended our popular event at the Senior Center! 6 Our Sister Club The Garden Club of Nagoya, Japan At our October general meeting, we had a luncheon at a Sri Lanka restaurant named Ehgaya in Nagoya. Ms. Waruni Jayaratne, a student from Sri Lanka, working towards a PHD at Nagoya University, told us about the unique cultural heritage of her country.
