From the saltwater shoreline to the accessible Lerner of the Five Senses, you will discover the many sights, scents and sounds that make up the 248 acres of s. We opened our doors to the public in 2007, following a dream that grew from a small grassroots organization in Today we are the proud guardians of this community resource. We are grateful for our members, our Board of Directors (past and present), our 600 volunteers and the nearly 100,000 people who visit Coastal Maine Botanical s each year. As you travel through the s, look for the ecologically sound planting. Discover gardens with a purpose. Examine the colors and textures that abound. 3 The Amenities To make your visit to the s as comfortable as possible, here are a few things you may need to know: Making the Most of Your Visit For your enjoyment and safety, and to protect and preserve the s, please abide by the following: $ $ Supervise children at all times. $ $ Walk only on paths or lawns. $ $ Leave all plants, flowers and wildlife undisturbed. $ $ Exit the s before the posted closing time as the gates are locked at closing. $ $ Active sports (Frisbee, ball playing, kite flying, biking, etc.) are not permitted. A bike rack is provided for those arriving by bicycle. $ $ Dogs are permitted in the parking areas and on the adjacent dog trail but must be leashed. Bags for clean-up are provided. Other than service dogs, no animals are permitted elsewhere at the s. $ $ Smoking is permitted only in designated smoking stations in the parking lots. $ $ All photographs and other images taken by our guests must be for their own personal use and enjoyment. Any use, reuse or reproduction by any means for commercial use without the express written consent of Coastal Maine Botanical s is strictly prohibited. Photo by Barbara Freeman Kitchen Café Our locavore menu at the Kitchen Café features crisp salads, hearty sandwiches, homemade soups and luscious desserts. We partner with local growers and producers and, whenever possible, use herbs and other edibles from our Burpee Kitchen. Out in the gardens and needing a snack? Look for the gardens snack carts loaded with cold beverages and delicious treats. Restrooms The restroom facilities are located in the Visitor Center, the Bosarge Family Education Center and seasonally in the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children s. Accessibility The Visitor Center, Education Center, and Central s are accessible to people of all abilities. Due to the nature of our property, some areas may not be accessible to everyone. Accession Number As plants are added to our database they are assigned an accession number. The first four digits of the number reflect the year it was accessioned, and the balance of the coding becomes a unique serial number. Plant Family NE. N Central & SE USA Photo Ops With all the beauty that surrounds us here, taking great photos at the s is easy. So pull out your camera or phone and snap pictures of your journey through the s. Then...post them on your social media pages. Share them with us, too, on Facebook. $ $ Celebrate special occasions in elegant surroundings. Several areas of the gardens are available to rent for weddings, birthday parties, or corporate meetings. The setting for your group or wedding photograph is idyllic. Please check our website for the specifics on commercial photography at the s. $ $ Take home your favorite flowers (on your camera only; the real ones stay here, please). Build a garden notebook with the inspiration you find during your visit. $ $ Capture images of the artwork that adorns the s. The works are available for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the s. See our website for a schedule of shows.
