4 SITUATION Jesses is situated off Snows Hill within the heart of the popular Nadder Valley village of Dinton. The village has its own primary and pre-school, public house, church, village green and cricket pitch. It is approximately 5 miles west from the delightful market town of Wilton which offers a range of shops for every day needs. Alternatively Tisbury is a vibrant village (5.5 miles to the west) with an excellent range of shops and railway station to London Waterloo. HISTORICAL NOTE Sir Thomas Arundell was granted the manor of Dinton by Henry VIII in 1540 and in 1547 it was passed to Sir William Herbert who later became the Earl of Pembroke. The manor of Dinton (Jesses was believed to form part) descended through the Pembroke family until it was sold in 1918 as an outlying part of the Wilton Estate. The Jesse family of which the property is named after had resided in Dinton since the 16 th century. The house was remodelled in the late 1930 s by the London architect Charles Biddulph-Pinchard. The Vineyard dates from the 1970 s and now produces wine in partnership with Fonthill Vineyard.

5 DESCRIPTION Jesses is a charming Elizabethan country house dating from the early 17 th Century which was remodelled in the late 1930 s. It has attractive Chilmark stone elevations clad wisteria and roses, stone mullion windows under a thatched roof. It is listed Grade II as being of Architectural and Historical Interest. Internally the accommodation flows well from a central hall and retains much of its original character with exposed beams, panelling and parquet flooring. The owners have installed Jetmaster fires in the Drawing Room and Sitting Room. The Kitchen / Breakfast room has hand built pine cupboards, and island with marble worktop, 2 oven oil fired Aga and walk in larder. Beyond is a utility room, boiler room and WC. From the hall an oak staircase rises to the first floor passing a charming large stone mullion window which throws light into the hall and the landing. The Master Bedroom suite is at the western end and there are six further bedrooms and two further bath / shower rooms. 11 OUTSIDE Jesses is approached from the lane through a five bar gate leading to a large turning and parking area beside the eastern facade. Adjacent is a magnificent Tythe barn with weather boarded elevations under a thatched roof. Internally this is a fantastic entertaining space with vaulted ceiling and large central glazed doors to either side. At one end is a bar area and steel / oak steps up to a former apple loft (with potential subject to the necessary consents). To the rear of the barn is a charming private parterre garden with pergolas and a paved seating area. Adjoining the barn to the north is a single garage, workshop / potting store, logstore, pool plant room with separate oil fired boiler and an oil tank store. 14 THE LAND & VINEYARD This is situated to the north of the garden and is south facing on a gentle slope. It is divided into paddocks with water, the vineyard and there is also a lambing shed. The Vineyard comprises 16 rows of vines which are grown on greensand over chalk. There are two white varieties: Triumphe D Alsace and Muller Thurgau and one red: Madeline Angelvine. The vineyard is currently managed by a local wine producer in conjunction with another local vineyard at Fonthill. It offers a buyer a wonderful opportunity to become involved in this interesting subject, which is an increasing fashionable form of diversification. In all the property extends to 6.9 acres.
