2 Central Idea # 1051 Ada Street Community Hub A public space for all neighbours to gather. Improvements to the Thompson Road Park at Ada Street. Total Cost = $40,000 Park Improvements - $40,000 This will create a natural space where people will be able to meet, exchange ideas, have fun together, and create more of a sense of community. We need a space where our local artists can have events where they can meet each other and present their work to the community. Thompson Road Park

3 Central Idea # 1050 Additional Playground Equipment in Vauxhall Park Install additional playground equipment in Vauxhall Park. The new equipment could include a slide, a swing set, and more climbing equipment. Total Cost = $30,000 New Play Equipment & Play Circle - $30,000 The additional equipment would allow more children to use the equipment at a time. Vauxhall Park

4 Central Idea # 1053 Age Friendly Parks More Seating Four benches would be installed in both St. Julien s Park and Gibbons Park for a total of eight benches. Total Cost = $20,000 8 Benches - $20,000 Our group wants to encourage older adults to be physically and socially active in our parks and neighbourhoods. Age Friendly benches with arms, higher seats, and accessible picnic tables, make it easier for older adults and everyone to use our parks and participate. Gibbons Park and St. Julien s Park

5 Central Idea # 4927 Basketball Pad in Murray Park Replacing the tennis court with a new basketball court. Total Cost = $35,000 Replace tennis court surface for basketball court - $35,000 The tennis court in Murray Park is not used very often. There are a lot of kids who use it for ball hockey but the tennis net is always in the way. There are many children in our neighbourhood who play basketball right on the street. It is very unsafe. There is a beautiful park that is very well used. The only thing that would help us to make it even better is a basketball pad. 6 Central Idea # 4882 Beautification of CNRA Park Beautify CNRA Park by adding two benches and a gazebo. Total Cost = $40,000 2 benches - $4,000; Gazebo - $36,000 Improvements will help support the growing number of young families in the neighbourhood who want a good quality park to take their children to. There is not much green space in this particular area of the city, so the green spaces we do have should be treasured and maintained properly for the families that want to use them on a regular basis. 7 Central Idea # 4900 Bee Pollinator Garden Installation of a Bee Pollinator Garden in Old East Village neighbourhood green space. Total Cost = $7,000 Installation of Garden - $7,000 The world needs more bees. The park area, the public and all the people that live in the neighbourhood would realize the great value with the garden, the plants, the space and the extra work they do for the environment. The garden will be a visual pleasure adding beauty and will also to be used as an educational feature. 8 Central Idea # 4886 Benches for Wortley Village Install three benches along the sidewalk on Wortley Road between Craig Street and Elmwood Avenue. Exact location of benches will be determined through consultation with local businesses, Old South Business Association, and the Old South Community Organization. Total Cost = $6,000 3 Benches - $3,300; Concrete Pads and Installation - $2,700 Installing benches will make Wortley Village feel even more like a village! They will make the area look and feel more historic and give people a place to sit and take a break as they walk along the road. Benches will make the shopping area in Wortley Village more accessible to all, especially seniors and others who need to take a rest as they walk. Wortley Village

9 Central Idea # 4644 Benches in Gartshore Park Adding four benches to the park Total Cost = $15,000 4 Benches - $8,000; Accessible Pathway - $7,000 There is presently no place to sit down in the park. Taking children or pets does not allow parents or owners to sit down to enjoy the park, or the tree shade. Gartshore Park

10 Central Idea # 4809 Benches in Old East Village Install five benches on existing Canada Post concrete pads on boulevards in Old East Village. Total Cost = $6,000 5 Benches - 5,500.00; Installation - $ More people will walk to shop, walk in general and then stop and sit and get to know one another. Great for those with mobility issues. OEV does not have parkland with benches and this is a good substitute. The existing concrete pads are the perfect spots for neighborhood benches. Old East Village Neighbourhood Streets

11 Central Idea # 1047 Cavendish Playground Addition Adding a new playground and play circle in Cavendish Park. Total Cost = $50,000 Swings and play surface - $50,000 The children in the area would be encouraged to engage in more physical activity if there was more variety in playground equipment. 12 Central Idea # 4982 Christmas Market on the Green Christmas Market on the Green to run for the first weekend in December on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This would compliment the opening of Christmas in the Village. Total Cost = $7,600 Building 8 Kiosks - $5,600; Park Rental - $675; Overnight Security - $725 The Christmas Market is a recreation of the Ancient European Tradition which when set behind the restored and saved Victorian Education Centre (Normal School) will draw both neighbours and Londoners to celebrate the season: a celebration of Heritage and Community The Green in Wortley Village

13 Central Idea # 1056 Community Info Board in Blackfriars Community Info Board in Blackfriars. Total Cost = $5,000 Community Info Board - $5,000 This board will help to promote neighbourhood activities and connect people in the community. Blackfriars

14 Central Idea # 4845 Doidge Park Improvements Added seating area to Doidge Park. Total Cost = $9,000 Accessible pad - $1,500; Path - $4,500; Tables - $3,000 The park is a space widely used by the community - with a playground and tennis courts, but there is no space (other than 1 bench) for people to sit and currently there is nowhere for people to sit and enjoy a meal or a snack. 15 Central Idea # 1154 Downtown Scavenger Hunt Host a scavenger hunt across Downtown, with a passport stamped when clues are found. When the passport is completed, it can be traded for prizes such as discount for downtown stores, or downtown dollars. Businesses in the area would support the Scavenger Hunt, handing clues out at each location. Total Cost = $2,500 Event Costs - $2,500 People can move around and learn about downtown. This event gets people motivated to do so, which is part of a healthy community. 16 Central Idea # 1151 Downtown Winter Ice Festival Downtown locations with patios partner to host ice sculpture displays for residents to visit. The festival would encourage people to get out and explore downtown during the winter. Total Cost = $3,500 Event Coordination - $3,500 Promotes a healthy lifestyle and gets people moving in during a season that can be a little more quiet in downtown. 17 Central Idea # 1039 Giant Chess Board in R.H. Cooper Square Installing a giant chess board in R.H. Cooper Square. Total Cost = $4,200 Chess Pieces - $1,000; Painting the board - $200; 2 benches - $1,000; Storage Locker for Pieces - $2,000 This chess board will provide entertainment, allow people to create community connections and encourage people to visit the Square. 18 Central Idea # 1128 Here Before Us: Oxford Park Neighbourhood Cultural Heritage Evaluation Report (CHER) A CHER will assess the heritage of the Oxford Park neighbourhood. Researched and written by experts in archaeology and cultural heritage, this document will provide a reliable, accurate, and credible resource for both Oxford Park residents and Londoners. Total Cost = $14,260 CHER - $12,000; 100 Heritage home signs - $2,260 This research assessment will give Oxford Park neighbours a connection through a shared appreciation for the history behind our homes and neighbourhood. The CHER will uncover important historical information to us, such as which homes are Kernohan pre-fabricated houses (a multigenerational London family and business), the names of all WWII veterans who lived here, etc. Neighbours will demonstrate their community spirit collectively by posting an Oxford Park-specific heritage sign signifying the original homeowners information. The CHER will be conserved at the London Room in the Central Library providing all Londoners access to it. Oxford Park

19 Central Idea # 4853 Historical Tours of Hamilton Road A series of walking tours of the Hamilton Road neighbourhood, sharing different parts of the area s rich history. Organized by the same people who run the Hidden History of Hamilton Road series. Total Cost = $8,000 Tour Planning and Promotion - $8,000 C O M M U N I T Y I M PA C T Many people who live in the community show interest in the historical context, and people raised in or having lived in the community are excited to have an opportunity to learn more about the history of the neighbourhood or, revisit some of the places and activities that they remember. Throughout the Hamilton Road Area

20 Central Idea # 4944 Inclusive Play Structure in Meredith Park Installation of surfacing material that would be accessible and safe for all who use the site. Accessible equipment could include: a chinning bar that could be reached by a child in a wheelchair; a spinner/merrygo-round; roller table; low to the ground tunnels; bridges and towers; and ramps to reach them. Total Cost = $50,000 New Play Equipment and Safety Surfacing Installation - $50,000 Our hope is to build a new play structure that would be accessible to all children and that would provide a complete and enriching play experience for every child who uses the park. It is our hope that children and parents from all over London would visit such a play structure and that it would become the first step in an upgrade to Meredith Park that would make it a destination in itself and a true neighbourhood hub for SoHo. 21 Central Idea # 1049 Lighting for Dog Park in Campbell Park Install lighting in the off-leash dog park in Campbell Park. Total Cost = $5,000 Light Installation - $5,000 Lighting in the dog park would allow residents to use the park for longer hours. Campbell Memorial Park

22 Central Idea # 1052 Little Libraries in East London Eight Little Libraries in the Hamilton Road area. The Little Libraries will be constructed by a group of residents in the Hamilton Road community, who are working with Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre and Pathways Skills Development, as part of a wood working program. Total Cost = $1,900 Materials - $1,600; Invitations through Canada Post - $300 This idea will increase the presence of Little Libraries and thus maximize the benefits for residents living in this geographic area. Many children, youth and families will benefit from the addition of Little Libraries throughout their community. Hamilton Road Community

23 Central Idea # 4933 London West Lions Park Gazebo and Gathering Area Installation of a gazebo, picnic tables and a path alongside the Food Forest in West Lions Park. A gazebo and picnic tables or benches would create a caring space alongside the Food Forest, for sitting together, meetings, picnics, resting, family outings, and compassionate community connection. Total Cost = $50,000 Gazebo and Path - $44,000; Picnic Tables - $6,000 This Food Forest has become a space for Londoners to learn about the concept of a food forest. This green space has naturally evolved into an important community meeting/participation space, and a compassionate destination that encourages inclusive participation, diversity, and enhancement of green space for all Londoners, including vulnerable populations. 24 Central Idea # 4854 London s Free Fruit Providing all the necessary supplies to allow 100 fruit trees to be planted in Central London on privately-owned front lawns with signs that invite the passerby to enjoy the fruit. Total Cost = $5, Fruit trees, tree guards, tree tags, tree stakes, and wood chips - $5,000 This project promotes a culture of sharing, initiative and collaboration towards solution based issues such as rising food costs, impacts to climate change and pollution resulting from importing foods. Creating opportunities of engagement and skill based learning so as to optimize the harvest. Central London Neighbourhoods

25 Central Idea # 4934 Magic Mobile Wood Oven This oven would move around to neighbourhood parks such as Wood Street, Cavendish, Blackfriars, West Lion s, Thames, Gibbons and many other locations around Central London. Kensington Village Association will store the oven between events. Total Cost = $12,000 Mobile Wood burning oven - $12,000 This outdoor mobile wood burning oven is for making pizza, bread and many other wonderful things. It can be transported easily for any kind of community event. This oven would bring together communities to eat and celebrate together. 26 Central Idea # 4941 Natural Landscape Playground in Cavendish Park (KeVA) Creating a natural landscape playground in Cavendish park will add a great space to the existing swings. Total Cost = $50,000 Natural Landscape Playground - $50,000 To become community together. Creating a welcoming and beautiful space that stimulates carefree and unbound exploration. Cavendish park is perfect! It is central to our neighbourhood and has a wide-open space with no existing playground. Cavendish Park

27 Central Idea # 4901 OEV Mosaic A community driven and built, handmade tile mosaic to enhance the neighbourhood, build relationships between shopkeepers, building owners, and neighbours, and bring pride and draw awareness to the exciting, vibrant, and resilient neighbourhood that is called Old East Village (OEV). Total Cost = $26,500 Artist fees - $20,000; Mortar, Clay, Glazes & Grout - $2,800; Miscellaneous (base coat gloves, brushes, etc.) - $1,200; Insurance $1,000; Scissor Lift Rental - $1,500 C O M M U N I T Y I M PA C T The community building with the tile making workshops, and community input sessions will be the greatest initial benefit of the mosaic - however the lasting beauty of the finished mosaic will be there for generations to come, and will document the strong community spirit in this resilient vibrant neighbourhood. 630 Dundas Street, facing Queens Avenue

28 Central Idea # 4634 Off-Leash Dog Area at Victoria Park Temporary off-leash area for dogs in the northwest area of Victoria Park. Total Cost = $50,000 Off Leash Park - $50,000 Creating this off-leash area will bring neighbours with dogs together to gather in one place, and talk to each other while dogs play. 29 Central Idea # 4921 OId East Village Community Association Block Party Each year, the Old East Village Community Association hosts a family friendly, inclusive, accessible and FUN block party, open to the neighbourhood and the London community. We bring together the community--from artisans and musicians, to service agencies, to the incredible businesses that have set up shop in Old East Village. Total Cost = $1,500 Food - $1,500 This one-day annual celebration fosters connections between neighbours and their community, whether it s volunteers who barbecue all afternoon, or a community member who is able to learn more about a service or agency at one of the many info tables. These community connections stretch across the lifespan, since this is an event open to all ages, with thought given to accessible locations. We seek to increase participation and remove barriers to access by ensuring this accessibility extends to free entertainment and food everyone is truly welcome! Old East Village - Charlotte Street

30 Central Idea # 4958 Oxford Park 1901 : Unique Street Sign Design for the Oxford Park Community Commemorative street signs in Oxford Park will defi ne a specifi c and identifi able neighbourhood. The signs will reference the neighbourhood s name, Oxford Park, using old script found on a map of the area from Total Cost = $7, Signs - $6,250; Sign design - $1,250 Commemorative street signs will help increase Oxford Park s profi le as a recognized city neighbourhood, instill a greater sense of pride in our community, and celebrate our best-kept-secret status. 31 Central Idea # 4919 Pollinator Pathways Project The project will engage residents in the Kensington Village neighbourhood by asking them to plant a pollinator garden on their private property or boulevard in front of their house. Total Cost = $4,000 Seeds - $1500; Ground preparation - $2000; Signage - $500 The emphasis is on creating a network of people and habitat that will ensure the flourishing of pollinators across the neighbourhood. This project will support a healthy and diverse ecosystem and beautify our neighbourhood. Kensington Village Neighbourhood

32 Central Idea # 4922 Reimagine Waste Reimagine Waste is a pop-up community space that will be open for three months. It will be a demonstration space for the growing zero waste movement in London, featuring a range of activities that share information and spark conversations about living more sustainably, including workshops, demonstrations and film screenings. Total Cost = $8,000 Rent and equipment - $8,000 Our approach is one of collaboration and co-creation. Beyond promoting the zero waste movement, the space will be open to select community groups who share our vision of sustainable living and city-building. Creating together fosters belonging and boosts mental health. Our art hive will reuse and upcycle waste, transforming it into artworks. Our civic conversation space will catalyse an environment where citizens can converse, learn, and connect with one another, where together we can dream, plan and prototype ideas for making London a city of neighbours. 33 Southeast Idea # 4907 Rollerskating/rollerblading Pathway in St. Julien Rollerskating/rollerblading Outdoor Pathway in St. Julien Park Total Cost = $50,000 Asphalt path - $50,000 Our skate park is too small for those who would like to enjoy rollerblading/ rollerskating. Asphalt would be very smooth and will give people more space to enjoy rollerskating /blading/ skateboarding in addition to the skateboard area. 34 Central Idea # 4931 Rowntree Recreation Beautify and increase the opportunities for recreation at Holy Rosary Catholic School by adding picnic tables, sand box, planting boxes, games painted on the asphalt, and wooden fish decorations in the fence. Total Cost = $20,000 3 picnic tables - $9,000; Sand Box - $6,500; Planting Boxes - $2,000; Games Painted on Asphalt - $2,000; Wooden Fish in Fence - $500 This idea will provide new recreational activities for families and community to enjoy. It will allow neighbours to come out and enjoy the school yard and connect. It will make our neighbourhood more beautiful and offer residents more recreational opportunities. 35 Central Idea # 4898 Safety Mirror on Path in Chelsea Green Park Installation of a safety mirror on the pathway under the bridge of to assist pedestrians and cyclists to see oncoming traffic. Total Cost = $1,000 Mirror on Park Pathway - $1,000 Installing this mirror will improve safety and comfort for people using the bike and pedestrian path. This section of the path takes a sharp turn underneath the bridge. Path users cannot see who is coming around the corner, what lane they are in, or if there are any obstacles in their lane (geese, tree branches, etc.). With this mirror, both bicycles and pedestrians could see around the corner in advance of the turn and prevent any accidents. Chelsea Green Park

36 Central Idea # 1143 Sidewalk Benches at the Hamilton Road Seniors Centre Install two benches with concrete pads in front of the Hamilton Road Seniors Centre. Total Cost = $5,000 2 benches with concrete pads - $5,000 Benches would beautify the area, provide a resting spot for pedestrians who walk along Hamilton Road and provide a more pleasant environment. 37 Central Idea # 1141 Taste of Hamilton Road A one-day street festival highlighting the restaurants and businesses in the neighbourhood. There will be food vendors, dancing, live music from local bands, street cafes and giveaways. 38 Central Idea # 1043 The Exchange: A Neighbourhood Conversation Place As a month long pop-up, The Exchange would provide a place to facilitate conversations amongst residents of Central London. This month-long event would include a series of planned workshops, film screenings, events, meetings, and art showing(s), culminating with a miniconference focused on the city that we share. Total Cost = $7,500 Equipment & Materials - $1,500; Space & Insurance - $3,000; Speakers/Artists/Media Licenses - $2,500; Marketing - $500 This event would allow Central London residents to create new community connections, and encourage residents to feel a greater sense of civic ownership. 39 Central Idea # 4849 Tree Trunk Scavenger Hunt A family friendly Scavenger Hunt of all the beautiful Tree Trunk sculptures that anyone can take advantage of and use as a fun hike activity. People could pick up the scavenger hunt map on-line or at a number of participating businesses and organizations along Hamilton Road. Total Cost = $10,000 Signage and promotion - $2,000; Creation and Printing of the map - $1,500; Prizes - $5,000; Administration - $1,500 This will promote visitors to come to the area, learn about our neighbourhood and what we have to offer, increase the economy in the area and have fun. 40 Central Idea # 4935 Walking Path in Gibbons Park Creation of a walkway by connection existing pathway system Total Cost = $40, m Pathway - $40,000 There are a large number of older adults living near Gibbons Park. Adding walking paths will make Gibbons Park better connected to the existing pathway system and will encourage walking among people of all ages and abilities. This will help make our parks & pathways more age friendly and will support older adults to be active. Gibbons Park

41 Central Idea # 4895 Warrior Womyn Mural Project Indigenous-themed murals in neighbourhoods with high indigenous populations. The details of the artists, artwork, and site would be decided in close consultation with local Indigenous groups. Total Cost = $50,000 Paint, equipment, insurance, artist fees - $50,000 These murals will create a positive outlook on Indigenous culture, and beautify the neighbourhood. The production of the mural will bring people together and transfer skills and knowledge of art creation and Indigenous cultures. To be determined
