4 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF MISSISSIPPI MILLS FIRE COMMITTIE JANUARY 22, 2013 ALMONTE FIRE STATION FIRE REPORTS In 2012, 186 reports for response in our community were sent into the Fire Marshal s Office. This does not include all the training conducted as the Fire Marshal does not require a report for training starting in 2012 as in the past. Our budget for volunteer hours was over, as many of the fires required attendance by both stations. The bush fires from lightning strikes added many hours. A copy of the calls for 2012 is included in your package. Also shown is a break down of the different times of the day for which we received the calls. FIRE LOSS Our fire loss for the year 2012 totaled $ 447, plus one vehicle fire of $ 3, This included four house fires, one barn, one out building, one fence, and a hydro transformer. This total shows the fire loss but not the property saved adding up to over one million dollars. This demonstrates the effort and hard work the members contributed last year. FIRE AGREEMENT The fire agreement with Lanark Highlands has been approved by our Council and will be going to the next Highlands Council meeting to be held on January 29, 2013 for adoption. FIRE INSPECTIONS Bob Machan has been kept busy with inspections as he is finding more code violations when checking businesses and apartment buildings. He has been working closely with the building department on retrofits and new building in the community. Submitted by: Art Brown Fire Chief Reviewed by: Rob Tremblay Acting Clerk 3
