6 FIRE IN A METRO STATION Project developed for: TRAIN SMOKE STAIRS Metro Station: -Case study of fire in a wagon. - It is required staircases without smoke and under a limit temperature during certain time detailed. -Optimized design of the ventilation, forced impulsion/extraction, nozzles and grids.

11 CAR PARK When there is a fire in a car park rarely affect to just one car. Due to the proximity between cars and depending on the fire, some of the closer ones start to burn up after a few minutes increasing 100% the thermal load. The design of the car park will be optimized adapting to the real fire situation.

14 CAR PARK Fire modelled as a combustion reaction. Fuel + Oxygen CO 2 +H 2 0 Complete combustion because it is rich in O 2. Extraction smoke system activated to 6 renewals/hour. Natural ventilation: air intake by natural shot of the fire.
15 CAR PARK Temperatures after 2 minutes the fire started.
16 CAR PARK Velocities reached by the smoke after 2 minutes the fire started.
17 CAR PARK The smoke stays at the -2 level (underground level). Ocupying almost the whole floor.
18 CAR PARK After 7 minutes the temperatures increase gradually in the -2 level stratified. The -1 level is full of smoke. The smoke goes out through the parking entrance.
19 CAR PARK We observe the smoke with high CO 2 concentration distribution after 7 minutes thefirestarted.
20 FIRE IN THE NEXT CAR The temperature on the second car reaches the limit to start the fire because of the radiation. The second car burns up. Every car can start to burn up, the behavior of the fire determines which one burns.

26 INTERMODAL FACILITY It is defined as a several levels installation, where different transport mean customers ( short distance train, long or short distance buses and metro) can move from one mean of transportation to another. Several levels with different acceses to the street or metro. The objective is to optimize the conditions at the passengers transit area.

28 TRANSPORT INTERCHANGER In this area the buses are assumed to be pseudotransient, so that it is possible to study the effect of the buses moving on the toxic distribution, temperature Stopped buses
