Sophisticated design is apparent in the bathrooms, which the Berlin-based Studio Aisslinger equipped with hansgrohe bathroom fixtures. Schiltach, September Stockholm is spread out over fourteen islands and a bit of the mainland. The city has a population of over a million and is famous for its historic centre and attractions such as the Royal Palace and the Stockholm Concert Hall, where the Nobel prizes are awarded every year. But Scandinavia s largest city is also the centre of Northern Europe s creative scene, which now has a new home in the Norrmalm district: the Hobo Hotel, which opened in March Probably the most private spaces in a hotel the bathrooms are beautifully equipped with quality taps and showers made by hansgrohe, the premium brand from the Black Forest.

2 The Comeback of Brunkebergstorg The Hobo is located in the modern commercial district of Norrmalm, also known as Stockholm s City. Although the hotel is very centrally situated between the main train station and the popular Kungsträdgården park, Brunkebergstorg, a street marked by 1970s architecture, had been somewhat forgotten in recent decades. The hotel, which belongs to the Nordic Hotels & Resorts group owned by Norwegian entrepreneur Petter Stordalen, breathes new life into the district together with its neighbouring sister hotel At Six. The award-winning, Berlin-based industrial design office Studio Aisslinger was responsible for the hotel s interiors. Some of Aisslinger s furniture projects are considered design classics today and are on display in famous museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Museum of Modern Art MoMA in New York. A Collage with a Laid-Back Feel Studio Aisslinger s concept for the Hobo: Creative functionality, appealing to both urban travellers and creative hipsters. Hobo sees itself as a communicative, open-minded place where outgoing people can meet and network. It is dynamic, radiates optimism and cultivates an unconventional and casual style. The hotel is not just an accommodation, it is an experience; it features a pop-up space, where alternating young artists can display their work, a restaurant and bar with craft beer from a local microbrewery, and a bike station in the lobby. Loft-like spaces with direct access to all public and seating areas extending over two floors, invite guests and visitors to meet and share the experience. The interior resembles a collage, one of Aisslinger s hallmarks. Cushions with ethnic patterns on modern design furniture are not contradictions. A mix of materials, such as stone and wood, natural hues, colourful accents and warm lighting create a pleasant, informal ambience simply hyggelig, as Sweden s Danish neighbours would say. Unexpected Perspectives An authentic and modern way of life with a slightly hippie-like feel, a bit reminiscent of the freedom and easy-going spirit of being on the road in a VW camper van: this is what Hobo aims to create. Upon entering their hotel room, guests find a bed in the middle of the room; the headboard, a metal frame structure, acts as a room divider. The back side of this dividing structure faces the door and is equipped with a desk and storage space, while the bed itself

3 faces the window so that guests can lie on the bed and look out the wood-framed panes directly into the sky: This is an interior that surprises and creates a memorable experience, explains Werner Aisslinger. In creating the interiors of the hotel s 201 rooms, Studio Aisslinger collaborated with leading brands from all over Europe, including Italian furniture designer Giulio Cappellini. The plastic lighting specially designed by Aisslinger for the hotel was produced by the Swedish company Wästberg. Perfectly Designed Bathrooms Sophisticated design is also apparent in the bathrooms, which Studio Aisslinger equipped with hansgrohe bathroom fixtures. At Hobo, guests can freshen up under hansgrohe s Croma 220 showerpipe. The matching hand shower is a perfect complement. At the washbasin, the slender spout of the Talis Classic Highriser tap is reminiscent of old well pumps. Thanks to its height, the tap is more convenient for washing hands. The taps of the hansgrohe Talis Classic range have a slender, cylindrical body and a bell-shaped base. The characteristically designed lever is easy to hold and the Boltic lever lock ensures wobble-free operation. Even after especially long Scandinavian summer nights, the Hobo community can relax comfortably and beautifully in the most private of all hotel rooms: the bathroom.
