Within a limited footprint, the visitor is immersed within the forest environment with a custom created life-like wall mural and dimensional scenic tree. The exhibit features, mounts, low-tech, hands-on exhibits, and a touchscreen interactive to explore conservation heroes.

As complicated as forests may be, ecologists have noticed that a mature forest exhibits distinct layers. The crowns of the tallest trees form a canopy, which receives the full impact of the wind, sun and rain. Below the canopy is an understory of smaller trees. In a healthy forest you ll also find a shrub layer. Close to the ground, you ll observe a variety of smaller plants, such as wildflowers and ferns that make up what is known as the herbaceous layer. On the forest floor, decomposing leaves and wood comprise the litter layer. 211 West Chestnut Street, West Chester, PA p f Forests contribute much to the overall health of our living environment. In addition to providing food and shelter for a variety of wildlife, they help to produce the oxygen we breathe, purify our air, control soil erosion, moderate extremes in temperatures and provide us with a variety of food and wood products.
