5 Climate Protection Measures extension of central pedestrian area and development of new bicycle corridors (over 250km) redirection and relocation of transit/heavy traffic from the central city area energy efficiency measures use of geothermal and renewable energy (significant underground water potential in central city area 1.200MW) development of cogeneration plants (bio mass, bio gas, waste) reconstruction and new construction of embankments/levees (protection systems against flooding, erosion, torrents and high water levels) use of other measures for reduction of negative impacts (improved maintenance of existing water sources, restoration of Danube forests, targeted conservation of forest biodiversity, forest and urban areas, enlargement of ecologically functional areasbiotops (Biotop Area Factor (BAF) or Green Factor) on each parcel (city block) etc.
