2 Purpose of Tonight s Meeting Update residents on the status of the Streetsville Pumping Station and Reservoir Expansion Project. Inform residents about upcoming construction activities and potential impacts. Address any questions and concerns from residents Address any questions and concerns from residents regarding the project.
3 Objective of the Expansion The Region of Peel is one of the fastest-growing regional municipalities in Canada. The Streetsville Pumping Station and Reservoir requires upgrading to meet projected demand in A Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) was completed in 2008 for this project. The Class EA recommended the construction of a new reservoir and pumping station.

6 Construction Staging Project implementation is broken down into two phases: Phase 1: Reservoir Expansion and Associated Works Phase 2: Pumping Station Expansion

9 Landscape and Restoration Plan Improved visual aesthetics using landscaping. Native trees and shrubs (coniferous and deciduous) will be planted as part of the restoration plan of the site. Some of the new trees include Red Oak, Red Maple, Silver Maple, Hackberry, Austrian Pine, White Spruce, Balsam Fir and Pin Oak. Red Oak Red Maple Pin Oak White Spruce
10 Area Closed Off During the Construction Period Temporary Construction Entrances
11 Temporary Hoarding and Security Fencing The site has been surrounded by solid board construction hoarding with sediment barriers along the tennis courts and woodlot in order to protect the trees and tennis courts from construction activity and soil erosion. Existing trees to be protected have all been surrounded d with snow fencing as per City of Mississauga standards. Existing Solid Board Hoarding by the Tennis Courts Additional security fencing will be installed around the entire site prior to commencement of construction activities for public protection. 12 Potential Impacts to Nearby Residents Construction activities may have the following impacts: Potential impact on south bound traffic on Erin Mills Parkway due to construction vehicle traffic in and out of the site. Stockpiling of soil and backfill. Noise and dust due to construction activities. Rock excavation will be limited to the use of hoe ram (i.e., no blasting). Closure of the north end of the leash free area. No impact to existing public parking except for some temporary closures to complete upgrades to the electrical substation. Preconstruction survey of residences (inside and outside) within 100 m of site. Residences will be advised of the impending survey and appointments made with owners to carry out the surveys. Access to the tennis courts will not be impacted.

14 Mitigation Measures The Contractor will be required to submit a traffic management plan. The installed 2.4 m high solid board hoarding along the north end of the site will mitigate impact of noise and dust. Construction activities will be limited to normal working hours, Monday to Friday. Occasional works on weekends and evenings may be required. There will be two construction entrances complete with mud matts in order to control mud tracking onto Erin Mills Parkway. The Contractor will be required to maintain additional dust control as well as soil erosion control measures. Vibration monitoring will take place during construction.
15 Overflow / Stormwater Management Pond A reservoir overflow / stormwater management pond will be constructed at the north end of the site. The pond will be dry at all times, except in a major storm or a reservoir overflow event. The pond self-drains to the storm sewer and eventually to Quenippenon Tributary. The pond will be protected by a 1.8 m high h security fence to deter unauthorized access and protect the public. Typical Cable Concrete Mats The pond will be equipped with cable concrete mats for erosion control.
16 Fencing Restoration The existing wire fencing at the north end of the leash free area will be removed during construction. The fencing will be replaced as part of the restoration plan. The replacement fencing will have small spacing between wires at the bottom and larger spacing at the top. The replacement fencing will keep small dogs inside the leash free area. The subtle design blends in with the surrounding environment. 18 Implementation Schedule Phase 1 expansion works will begin in the Fall of 2010 and finish by Summer Phase 2 works will start the Summer of 2012 and finish by Phase 2 works will start the Summer of 2012 and finish by the Summer of 2014.
