1 With Pleasure: A Plan for s Future This master plan harnesses complementary ecological strategies to address s problems of connectivity and identity. The patch-corridor-matrix framework allows us to identify areas of concern within s urban fabric, and to propose solutions that create new linkages within the city. Attention to the specific ecologies of the town s Jamaica Bay and Rockaway Beach waterfronts leads to the creation of a new formal vocabulary (both planted and constructed) for the development of streetscapes and plazas. The overlayment of these two approaches results in a proposal that reinserts pleasure into the city: by creating strong links between the city center and waterfront recreational opportunities, by providing meaningful spaces for community events, and by establishing a vibrant backdrop for everyday activities.
