5 .LANDSCAPE RESPONSE The objective of the landscape concept is to integrate the weir structure, vent stack and odour control within its contextual surrounds through overarching landscape principles. These make reference to the original coastline, mana whenua narrative and existing coastal vegetative backdrop. Using tall flowering coastal trees and mixed height coastal shrubs landscape response will provide green visual amenity referencing the original foreshore of the site. The proposed landscape response is representative of Auckland s overarching landscape values of greenness and connectivity. The weir structure will significantly increase water quality in the area. The proposed deep dark stone represents, Mana Whenua narrative of the Waitamata s obsidian dark waters and the reef structure on which the Taniwha Ureia, would sunbathe. The Design integrates the landscape principles of coastal planting and rock formations seamlessly into the landscape with fluid natural formations and will ultimately create a greener experience for pedestrians and motorists alike. PT ERIN VISUALISATION The proposed response focuses on ensuring the landscape elements provide: consolidated planting areas to maximise amenity and visual mitigation (if needed); a seamless fit to context; and qualities that are distinctive to the landscape narrative The landscape response is therefore structured in addressing: Wier structure mitigation Vent Stack mitigation Referencing the sites origins LEGEND The detailed explanation of the planting types has been included in section.
