Re-activate Tositsa area Urbanism 7 - Exarchia Timothé BEILLEVERT Agathe GERAUD Karol GWIAZDOWSKI Juakub MORAVCIK
Why Tositsa? Global view of the area Exarchia - Omonia - Panepistimio The area of Exarchia is the meeting point of 2 different grids : one from Patission street, the other one from Acadimias/Panepistimio streets.
Why Tositsa? Commerces opened during the day The south of Stournari street is very active during the day, compared to the north of this street where there is only a few shops active.
Why Tositsa? Commerces opened during the night During the night, the activity is concentrated around Platia Exarchia and E. Benaki
Why Tositsa? Map of activity felt days/night We can observe that the activity is concentrated in the mains roads, and around platia Exarchia. The area at the north of Stournari don t give the sensation of a living neighborhood, increased by the complex Museum/Politechniou.
Why Tositsa? An area with a lot of pocibilities of pleasant spaces, and a few streets already pleasants.
Why Tositsa? Hights of the buildings in Tositsa. 8 Floors 7 Floors 6 Floors 5 Floors 4 Floors 3 Floors 2 Floors The upper part of Tositsa is caracterized by a lot of hight buildings, with what is accorded a large central street.
Why Tositsa? Galleries in the street Gallery Buildings A lot of galleries are the potential of different kinds of landscapes in the street.
Why Tositsa? A complex School - Museum conceived as an only one antitie from a spatial point of view. The 2 elements share a space that could be considered as only one possible unity.
Why Tositsa? But 2 antities working in a different way The school is a closed space, enclosing a lot of open space and several differents closed buildings. The area of the museum is an open public space plus a closed building.
Problems of Tositsa The neighborhood is not working as it could be. There is not enough life to attract people and to feel in a pleasant area, yet caracterized like a close area of the center of Exarchia.
Problems of Tositsa Closed shops
Problems of Tositsa Car parks
Problems of Tositsa Use of the pavement
Problems of Tositsa Bottom of Tositsa : A street of a big size, possibly for hight frequentation, thought with a spirit of a garden. But this street is used only by a few neighborhoods and as a car park during the day.
Problems of Tositsa Visibles and invisibles barriers

Problems of Tositsa Life and vegetation
Problems of Tositsa No connection between the museum and the school

How re-activate Tositsa area? Use the beggining of Tositsa as a powerfull and very attractive area, to make people coming in this street. Then permet them to access easily to the top of the street. (+ possibles connections)
How re-activate Tositsa area? Bring new life in the upper part of Tositsa and in the perpendicular streets with activities.
