1 ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC. Chi Theta Omega Chapter Newsletter MARCH 2013 Happy March! I hope that this report finds you all well. February was a busy month for Chi Theta Omega. The chapter went red for the chapter meeting. Thanks to all of you for supporting the American Heart Association. AKAdence took a field trip to the Great Blacks in Wax Museum on February 2. The girls and their chaperones really enjoyed this educational trip. Thanks to Sorors Kiarah and Imani for coordinating the trip. The debutantes had their orientation with an overnight experience on February 22. Four of our debutantes were there and they were all very excited. Several Sorors stopped by the hotel to meet the girls. There will be many opportunities for the chapter to interact with the girls. This month we will be collecting toiletries for the local women s shelter. Please bring them with you to Saturday s meeting. We will also be going down to NBC 4 s annual Health and Fitness Expo on March 16 at the Washington Convention Center. Please let Soror Linda know if you are interested in going. The cost is FREE! I will be placing an order for the chapter blazers on March 8. It was suggested that we wear the same outfit for our anniversary luncheon. The cost of the blazers is $115. Based on the chapter vote, we will be getting whatever color the majority wants (pink, green or black). Please note that this is not required for chapter members. However, there will be an official chapter picture for inclusion in the souvenir journal. Only those Sorors with the blazers will be in the picture. If you need financial assistance, please see me privately. We will try to make it more affordable for you. Some upcoming dates: March 18: Scholarship deadline March 19: AKA Day in Annapolis March 22: Pan Hellenic Bowling party (Terrace Lanes) Please consider coming out and supporting our activities. This is our chapter and we are the ones who will continue to make us strong. Soror Coleen "When sisters stand shoulder to shoulder, who stands a chance against us?" ~ Pam Brown
