The floodplain will be improved with the development of Daybreak by making it deeper and a little bit more narrow, but retaining the same volume. This is demonstrated by the bathtub on the right. If the bathtub on the left hypothetically holds 100 gallons, the one on the right would also hold 100 gallons. Flood Storage Analogy
