The system utilizes the unique Kingspan modular, direct Flow evacuated tube system. The project was completed while the building was fully occupied. The system is actively monitored for performance and solar energy delivered to the building s domestic hot water system.
American University - Solar Water Heating (Commissioned October 2011) Letts/Anderson/Centennial Dormitories Mary Graydon Center NW Washington, DC Customer: Skyline Innovations Panel Count: 152 Kingspan Solar DF 100 Tube Count: 4560 Combined Storage: 9000 gallons
Solar Energy Services was contracted by Skyline Innovations to design and install three solar water heating systems on two university dormitories and a student union. SES designed and installed these closed loop systems utilizing Direct Flow evacuated tube solar collectors manufactured by Kingspan Solar. The systems include 81 panels, 55 panels, and 16 panels for a combined 4560 evacuated tubes in all. For solar storage, the larger systems utilized rooftop unpressurized tanks of 5000 gallons and 3100 gallons. The smaller system utilized (7) 120 gallon pressurized tanks for a combined 840 gallons of solar storage. The smaller 16 panel array was designed to integrate with a green rooftop.
Housing Authority of Chester County - Solar Water Heating (Commissioned October 2009) West Chester, PA Customer: Johnson Controls Inc. SES designed, project-managed, and installed a solar water heating system to provide solar water heating to a 90 person public housing facility during an overall energy upgrade. The SES team installed (10) roof mounted flat panel solar collectors and three 120 gallon solar tanks, plumbed in parallel to provide solar heated water to the new gas boilers, significantly reducing water heating requirements from gas. The installation took place while the building was occupied, requiring coordination with other vendors, customer project management, and sensitivity to the needs of residents currently occupying the building.
Glen Square: Senior, Assisted Living: Solar Water Heating (Commissioned December 2012) 102 North Crain Highway Panel Count: 42 Schuco C220 Glen Burnie, MD Storage: 1100 gal unpressurized Customer: Skyline Innovations Property Owner: Anne Arundel County Solar project developer contracted Solar Energy Services to assist in the design and complete the turnkey installation of a 42 panel roof (ballast) mounted, closed loop solar domestic hot water system.
