February Feb (TBC) 2016 Awards Ceremony A presentation of prestigious awards for contributors to horticulture. The Awards are a reflection of both horticultural excellence and personal endeavour, regarded internationally as being amongst the highest distinctions in horticulture. 1

2 7 Feb Cyclamen Spring The Cyclamen Society Early Spring offers exhibits and displays of spring flowering cyclamen. There will be experts available to give advice on care, propagation and companion planting and a range of interesting and unusual plants for sale Feb (half term dates change regionally) The Secret Life of Insects Half-term events celebrating the garden from a bug s point of view through dropin craft activities and a garden trail across all four. There will the chance to learn about the secret life of pollinating insects and find out how they move, eat, and taste with planting activities and crafts Feb Early Spring Plant Fair Formerly the Plant and Potato Fair, this early season event will help you welcome in the new growing season and offer a wealth of inspiration to help you get your horticultural creativity started Feb Scarecrow Making Hyde Hall Feb Botanical Art March 12 Mar On Tour Wimbledon Farmers Mar (TBC) Yorkshire in Bloom fund awards Yorkshire A great opportunity for the whole family to get together and have fun making a scarecrow. This show focuses entirely on Botanical Art, promoting the world-class Lindley Library collection and championing the skills of some of the world s best botanical artists through a display of unseen work. Apr (TBC) 1-2 Apr (31 Mar Preview Evening) Britain in Bloom 2016 launch Spring Plant Extravaganza featuring the Orchid Apr National Gardening Week inc. Mass planting by Britain in Bloom groups to celebrate launch of Europe s biggest community gardening campaign. Large displays from professional growers, orchid societies and botanical gardens from around the world. You will be able to enjoy a spectacular array of exotic orchids, learn about their extraordinary history, wonder at their unique beauty and buy some highly collectible and new species. The will be curating this national celebration of all things green. Hundreds of gardens, cultural organisations, museums, heritage sites, charities and businesses, including the four, will be involved. The aim of National Gardening Week is to encourage people and organisations to come together to celebrate and learn about gardening or help keep their neighbourhoods, environments and shared spaces beautiful through gardening. This year s theme will be Health, Horticulture and Happiness 3

The campaign raises the profile of gardens, boosts the public and government s awareness of its benefits and helps broaden access to gardens. The gardening season starts at the Flower Cardiff at this charming show, which has a real spring festival feel. There will be inspirational show gardens, an amazing array of daffodils and lots of family fun. The best of Wales and the best of spring all in one mustsee show. This National has over 60 classes covering all types of Rhododendrons, as well as trade and advice stands and magnificent displays of Magnolias and Camellias. markets throughout to offer The Malvern Spring Festival brings together inspirational ideas, practical tips and a fantastic day out for gardeners. Meander round the stunning collection of show gardens. Lose yourself in the Floral Marquee and pick up tips from the experts all around including the Allotment Theatre, and the Plant Pavilions. Once stocked up, find all the latest gardening gadgets and essentials in the vast array of trade stands. An all-weather Terrace Marquee will house over 30 of the top producers from all over the UK, with chilli plants, chilli sauces, chilli chocolate and fudge and chilli preserves to try and buy. There will also be talks, cookery demonstrations, special guests, music, children's activities including free face painting, and a Chilli Trail around the formal garden. 4

Specialist nurseries from around the UK will be exhibiting colourful displays and a wealth of advice on offer from some of the best growers. Wild About week is an annual initiative run by the Royal Society and The Wildlife Trusts. It focuses halting the decline of Britain s wildlife by encouraging people to take action for nature in their gardens and green spaces. The sights, sounds and tastes of the season are celebrated during this big autumn day out, with tasty produce from food stalls, and apple tastings from among the 670 cultivars of apples that are grown at. A special new series of events from the Royal Society () promises to get ers growing, eating and celebrating the best of seasonal British produce in Local sculpture set against the dramatic backdrop of the garden. December Dec Magic of Christmas 3 Dec Christmas Light Dec Christmas Magic of Christmas will include natural Christmas decoration making, stories with Santa / elves, gingerbread decorations activities as well as Christmas fairs and late night shopping. Christmas is new to 2016 and is intended to be the go to venue to purchase interesting plants and sundries which will make fantastic Christmas gifts for the avid gardeners.
