February Feb (half term dates change regionally) Wakey Wakey Wildlife RHS Activities focussing on birds and wildlife, partnering with RSPB to do bird ringing and watching, hedgehog hunts, scarecrow making and displays Feb RHS Plant and Potato Fair With more than 75 varieties of seed potatoes, chitting workshops, talks and an opportunity to taste many different potato varieties. 26 Feb 2015 RHS Awards Ceremony A presentation of prestigious awards for contributors to horticulture. The RHS Awards are a reflection of both horticultural excellence and personal endeavour, regarded internationally as being amongst the highest distinctions in horticulture. 1

Large displays from professional growers, orchid societies and botanical gardens from around Europe. Traders from around the world will be offering their newest hybrids and unusual orchid species. The international conference with lectures by some of the most eminent speakers from around the world will have days dedicated to Orchid science, Hardy Orchid and their cultivation, breeding and exploration. A celebration of spring where visitors can stock up on plants and take home tips and advice on how to revitalise their frostbitten gardens. The gardening season starts at the RHS Flower Cardiff at this charming show, which has a real spring festival feel. There will be inspirational show gardens, an amazing array of daffodils and lots of family fun. The best of Wales and the best of spring all in one mustsee show. 2

3 Apr (TBC) RHS Britain in Bloom 2015 launch Mass planting by RHS Britain in Bloom groups to celebrate launch of Europe s biggest community gardening campaign Apr National Gardening Week inc. RHS The RHS will be curating this national celebration of all things green. Hundreds of gardens, cultural organisations, museums, heritage sites, charities and businesses will be getting involved. The aim of National Gardening Week is to encourage people and organisations to come together to celebrate and learn about gardening or help keep their neighbourhoods, environments and shared spaces beautiful through gardening. The RHS will be running events and projects throughout the week as well as providing resources and guides around this theme. 17 Apr National Open Day Apr Rhodo, Camellia & Magnolia 26 Apr RHS Alpine Garden inc. RHS Rosemoor National Gardening Week in 2015 will include the first ever National Open Day, when gardens all over the country open to the public for free. and parks represent some of the most visited attractions in the UK and are as important and valued a part of the UK s heritage and cultural wealth as our great stately homes, museums or national parks. The campaign will raise the profile of gardens, boost the public and government s awareness of its benefits and help broaden access to garden visiting. This National has over 60 classes covering all types of Rhododendrons, as well as trade and advice stands and magnificent displays of Magnolias and Camellias. A comprehensive alpine plant fair with a wide range of unusual plants available to buy. April RHS Plant Finder 2014 Publication date for the new edition of the RHS Plant Finder. 3

After a long year there's nothing better than enjoying the fruits of the wonderful season. A show for food and gardening lovers, the event hosts a range of cookery demonstrations, gardening talks, vegetable displays, vintage tractors, crafts and more. See, taste and buy mouth-watering produce at the RHS Harvest Festival, a foodie feast celebrating the taste of autumn. Some of the best growers in the UK will exhibit their bounty in the Fruit & Vegetable Competition finalists announced at a special annual award ceremony (location TBC). Spooky woodlands is the theme for October Half terms with Creepy Crawly woodland trails, spider hunts, pumpkin carving, and trick or treat witches cave, house and grotto open on Halloween itself. RHS Shades of Autumn will be packed with autumn planting inspiration to extend the gardening season. Specialist nurseries from around the UK will be exhibiting colourful displays and a wealth of advice on offer from some of the best growers. Wild About week is an annual initiative run by the Royal Society and The Wildlife Trusts. It focuses halting the decline of Britain s wildlife by encouraging people to take action for nature in their gardens and green spaces. This year the focus is on wildlife gardening, with a specific focus in 2015 on gardening for hedgehogs. 7
