E ~MO PBRARY THE ASSEMBLY, RECALLNG Article 15(j) of the Convention on the nternational Maritime Organization concerning the function of the Aembly in relation to regulation and guideline concerning maritime afety, RECALLNG ALSO that it adoted reolution A.686(17) on the Code on Alarm and ndicator, incororating therein roviion on alarm and indicator contained in the 1974 SOLAS Convention, a amended, and the BC, BCH, GC and Ga Carrier Code, a amended, RECALLNG FURTHER that the Maritime Safety Committee, at it ixty-third eion, adoted reolution MSC.39(63) on adotion of the amendment to the Code on Alarm and ndicator, in order to extend reolution A.686(17) to cover the 1989 MODU Code and the Code of Safety for Diving Sytem, NOTNG that the Maritime Safety Committee, at it ixty-fifth eion, aroved amendment to reolution A.686(17) to extend it to cover the 1993 Torremolino Protocol, Code of Safety for Nuclear Merchant Shi, MDG Code, Guideline for nert Ga Sytem, Standard for Vaour Emiion Control Sytem, MARPOL 73/78, HSC Code and amendment to the 1974 SOLAS Convention concerning radiocommunication for the GMDSS, with a view to enuring uniformity in the alication of thee MO intrument, RECOGNZNG the need for a revied text of the Code on Alarm and ndicator which incororate all the amendment aroved ince it original adotion, for eae of imlementing it roviion, HAVNG CONSDERED the recommendation made by the Maritime Safety Committee at it ixty-fifth eion, 1. PREAMBLE n the original Code, relace the two firt entence of aragrah 1 by the following: "1 The Code i a recommendatory document rimarily directed to hi covered by the nternational Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (1974 SOLAS Convention), a amended, the nternational Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Shi, 1973, a modified by the Protocol of 1978 relating thereto (MARPOL 73/78), a amended, and aociated code (BC, BCH, GC, Ga Carrier, HSC, 1989 MODU, Nuclear Merchant Shi, Diving and MDG Code), 1993 Torremolino Protocol and Guideline for nert Ga Sytem (GS) and Standard for Vaour Emiion Control Sytem (VEC).
