2 THE QPL UFH EXTENSION KIT The Qual-PEX underfloor heating ytem i perfectly uited to a ingle area extenion up to 40qm in floor area. It i deigned to link into an exiting radiator heating ytem or alternatively it can be run a a eparate ytem providing the benefit of an efficient and cot effective heating ytem. Thi type of heating ytem may be ued in conjunction with any oil or ga fired boiler or even a geo-thermal heat pump ytem. It i not recommended however to run the ytem from a olid fuel heat ource. A typical double loop etup i hown below (fig 1). Pleae note the pipe length mut be of equal length. Connection of Qual-PLUMB Puhfit fitting A. Cut the pipe quare and remove any rough edge or burr. B. Puh a pipe inert into platic pipe. C. Puh the pipe firmly into the connector D. Pull on the pipe to enure a ecure joint i made A. B. C. D.

3 INSTALLATION GUIDE LINES The following guideline mut be adhered to when intalling the Qual-PEX Underfloor heating control unit and 15mm Qual-PEX Barrier Pipe. The ite mut firt be prepared thoroughly. Enure that the ub floor i level and dut free throughout. Intall a layer of rigid inulation on the ubfloor. The urface on which the inulation i laid hould be flat and even. Inulation thickne mut meet building regulation, currently 0.15 W/m 2 K reulting in roughly 100mm foil backed polyurethane. Fig 12 A 25mm edge inulation hould be intalled around exterior wall up to the finihed floor level. (fig 12) Lay the rapid rail fixing ytem on the inulation, pacing the rail out approximately 1.5m apart. Ue ome of the rapid rail clip to hold the rapid rail in poition on the inulation. Lay the pipe in a loop pattern imilar to figure 1.by clipping them into the rapid rail. Fig 13 Remember to ue ome rapid rail clip to hold the pipe in place around any bend. The minimum bend radii for Qual-PEX 15mm pipe i 100mm uing pipe clip. (fig 13) The pipe hould be laid at 200mm (8 ) centre in two loop of equal length according to the cutting lit (table 1). A imple up / down pattern i quicket and mot imple format to follow. The notche on the rapid rail are at 1" centre, o clip the pipe into every eight (8th) notch (20 qm). Viually inpect the pipe for any damage before any creed i poured. A normal floor creed (4:1) and and cement i to be ued to cover the pipe. The minimum depth of creed above the inulation i 65mm and the maximum i 100mm.

4 TO SECURE THE UFH CONTROL UNIT TO THE WALL Mark out the location of the UFH unit on the wall. (fig 2) The UFH unit mut be poitioned uch that it i eaily acceible. (fig 3) The unit i to mounted in the upright poition with the pump outlet facing the ground and the backplate fluh againt the wall. (fig 3) 2. It hould be mounted approx 6" - 10" off the ground and ecured to the wall uing the crew upplied. (fig 3) TO CONNECT THE UFH PIPES TO THE UFH CONTROL UNIT 3. Connect both double loop adaptor to the puhfit outlet of the UFH control unit a per intruction encloed with double loop adaptor. Connect the two Qual-PEX 15mm UFH flow pipe to the pump outlet uing the two Qual- PLUMB fitting and pipe inert and ecure. (fig 4) (ee puhfit fitting intruction) Once the pipe are laid in a imilar pattern a hown in figure 1, bring the open end of the coil back to the UFH control unit and connect to the Qual-PLUMB fitting at the return ide. (fig 5) 4. If the pipe are too long carefully cut back the exce pipe until it i the correct length to fit into the puhfit fitting on the cold water ervice valve (fig 5), alway make ure that both loop are the ame length. The underfloor pipe i now connected to the control unit. 5.

5 TO CONNECT THE UFH CONTROL UNIT TO YOUR EXISTING HEATING SYSTEM Drain down the entire heating ytem before commencing connection of UFH control unit to the exiting ytem. (If unure how to carry out thi operation pleae contact a qualified plumbing contractor ) Supply from below : Connect the upply pipework from the boiler / radiator circuit to the 15mm copper tube uing the 15mm compreion fitting. (fig 6) Note: If connecting to 22mm or Irih copper a uitable adaptor will need to be purchaed. Ue the ilver flexi-hoe and connect thi to the top outlet of the cold water ervice valve uing the 15mm compreion fitting. (fig 7) Bend the flexi-hoe down and under the pump and connect to the return pipework from the boiler / radiator circuit uing the 15mm compreion fitting on the hoe end. (fig 8) Supply from above : Connect the return pipework from the boiler / radiator circuit uing the 15mm compreion fitting on the cold water ervice valve. (fig 9) 9 Ue the upplied flexi-hoe and connect thi to the end of the copper tube. (fig 10) Bend the flexi-hoe up and under the pump and connect the upply pipework from the boiler / radiator circuit to the end of thi uing the 15mm compreion fitting. (fig 11) The underfloor control kit i now connected to the exiting heating ytem. Purge fill the entire heating ytem by opening the butterfly valve fully on the hot water ervice valve. (If unure how to carry out thi operation pleae contact a qualified plumbing contractor ) 10 11

6 Sytem Preure Teting. (Mandatory for guarantee to be valid.) The purpoe of ytem teting i to identify any point where leakage occur at a time when they can be repaired a eaily a poible, regardle of their caue. Teting take place immediately after firt fix intallation, and before the pipework i completely covered over. For puh-fit ytem high and low preure teting i mandatory. Low-preure tet = 3 Bar (air or water) for 15 minute. High-preure tet = 6 Bar (air or water), or a preure equal to 1.5 time the preure relief valve etting whichever i the greater for 1 hour. N.B : When teting i complete, the tet preure i dicharged from the ytem, where there i a rik of freezing condition. The drying out time for the creed i approx 2-3 week After thi period of time the heating may be witched on and the temperature lowly increaed until the deired room temperature i achieved. PIPE REPAIR If you have damaged the pipe and need to make a repair to it, follow the tep by tep intruction: Cut out the damaged ection of pipe (approximately 2" at either ide of the damaged pipe) Quality Platic recommend the ue of a pipe cutter pecifically deigned for platic pipe. Puh the Qual-PEX upport inert into the pipe it will ait in re-rounding the pipe after the cutting action. The inert will upport the pipe in the joint. Follow one of the following method: 1. Puh the Qual-PEX pipe into the compreion fitting without removing the capnut and compreion ring until it make firm contact with the pipe top in the body of the fitting. 2. Remove the caput and ring from the fitting, place on Qual-PEX pipe in logical order and inert the pipe fully into the fitting. In both cae, tighten the capnut by hand a far a poible and then a further 1.5 turn with a panner / wrench. Once the pipe ha been repaired back fill around the pipe with fine and up to the top of the pipe and then pour the creed directly over the affected area. Note : Once the joint ha been made a gauze or wrapping may be wrapped around the pipe to enure a tight eal.

7 FLOOR COVERINGS Tile: If a tile covering i to be ued then the tiling contractor mut be informed of the floor tructure and intall an indutry approved lip membrane (1000 gauge) in thi application. The tiling contractor hould alo ue a tile adheive which i approved for ue with underfloor heating. Carpet: Carpet and underlay are by deign, thermal inulator, o it i bet to ue a combination of a good quality thin carpet with a good quality underlay. The underlay hould be rubber and free of any oily compound which may leak out and degrade over time. Floating Timber Floor: Pre finihed floating wood floor are an excellent alternative to traditional wood flooring, becaue of the impler floor contruction and eae of intallation. Ue board narrower than 70mm. The narrower the board the le hrinkage that will occur. It i very important to ue an adheive that i uitable for underfloor heating when laying a floating timber floor. COMMISSIONING THE SYSTEM The mixing valve upplied a part of the conervatory heating pack ha a temperature etting range of between 35ºC and 60ºC and hould be et a to enure that the floor urface temperature hould never exceed 29ºc. The creed mut be allowed to dry out fully before the ytem i commiioned *Setting 2 : for creeded application only (TILE) *Setting 3 : for non- creeded application (TIMBER) *Setting 4 : for non-creeded application only (CARPET) SYSTEM CONTROL & WIRING Once the pipe and pump control are intalled mark the poition on the wall to fit the room thermotat. Remove the room thermotat from it box. Make ure it i approx 1.5m from the ground, out of direct unlight and free from any draught. Cut a channel or "chae" the wall to take the room thermotat cable (3m upplied) which i already connected to the terminal box on the control unit. The thermotat may then be et to the deired indoor room temperature, giving independent temperature and time control to the conervatory. The underfloor heating will only operate when the exiting radiator heating i timed on and ha heated up to approx 42ºc, therefore the on / off time of the exiting heating ytem may need to be adjuted. Likewie it will witch off when the central heating time out and the water temperature drop to about 31ºc. The upplied room thermotat allow the underfloor heating to be witched off independently of the radiator circuit once the conervatory ha reached the deired temperature e.g. on a unny day. Set the thermotat to the deired indoor air temperature (approx 19ºc 21ºc). (ee thermotat operating intruction for etup and correct uage) (fig. 14) Thi unit ha 4 uer-adjutable time program and 9 pre-programmed time program' built in. Thee are the running time of the unit and at the end of each time cycle the thermotat will witch off the pump and the unit will witch off until the next ON period in the time cycle. The 9 pre-program are : Prog 1 : 7 am-9 am and 5pm-11pm. Prog 2 : 7am-9am, 12pm-2pm, 6pm-11pm. Prog 3 : 12am-6am and 11pm-12pm. Prog 4 : 3pm-11pm. Prog 5 : 6am-8am and ON 9pm-11pm. Prog 6 : 6am-8am and ON 2pm-9pm. Prog 7 : 7am-7pm. Prog 8 : 8am-7pm. Prog 9 : 12am-7am. 14 The platic cover box may now be placed over the control pack and ecured to the wall uing fixing crew. To operate the ytem imply plug the unit into an electrical ocket and enjoy the full benefit of underfloor heating. (fig 15) 15
