13 INSTALLATION 4.3 Connecting LX-Bu and Keypad Bu Device Connection for LX-Bu and Keypad are provided through the J8 (PROG), J14 (LX500), J9 (LX600), J15 (LX700), J17 (LX800), J19 (LX900), and J13 (XBUS) 4-pin header. Several factor determine the DMP LX-Bu and keypad bu performance characteritic: the wire length and gauge ued, the number of device connected, and the voltage at each device. When planning an LX-Bu and keypad bu intallation, keep in mind the following information: DMP recommend uing 18 or 22-gauge unhielded wire for all keypad and LX-Bu circuit. Do not ue twited pair or hielded wire for LX-Bu and keypad bu data circuit. On keypad bu circuit, to maintain auiliary power integrity when uing 22-gauge wire do not eceed 500 feet. When uing 18-gauge wire do not eceed 1,000 feet. To increae the wire length or to add device, intall an additional power upply that i lited for Fire Protective Signaling, power limited, and regulated (12VDC nominal) with battery backup. Note: Each panel allow a pecific number of upervied keypad. Add additional keypad in the unupervied mode. Refer to the Keypad Bu ection for the pecific number of upervied keypad allowed. Maimum ditance for any one bu circuit (length of wire) i 2,500 feet regardle of the wire gauge. Thi ditance can be in the form of one long wire run or multiple branche with all wiring totaling no more than 2,500 feet. A wire ditance from the panel increae, DC voltage on the wire decreae. Maimum number of LX-Bu device on the firt 2,500 foot circuit i 40 device. Maimum voltage drop between the panel (or auiliary power upply) and any device i 2VDC. If the voltage at any device i le than the required level, add an auiliary power upply at the end of the circuit. When voltage i too low, the device cannot operate properly. For additional information refer to the LX-Bu/Keypad Bu Wiring Application Note (LT-2031). 4.4 Wirele Keypad Aociation Enable Wirele Keypad Aociation operation on both the keypad and panel: 1. Acce the Intaller Option Menu (3577 (INST)). 2. Select RF Survey). The keypad logo LED turn on red until aociation i ucceful. Enable Wirele keypad Aociation operation in the XR150/XR550 panel: Reet panel 3 time within 12 econd. Allow the keypad bu Tranmit/Receive LED to turn back on between each reet. For 60 econd the panel liten for wirele keypad that are in the Intaller Option Menu (3577 CMD) and have not been programmed, or aociated into another panel. Thoe keypad are aigned to the firt open device poition automatically baed upon the order in which they are detected. The keypad logo turn Green to indicate it ha been aociated with the panel. Figure 5: Keypad Bu LED Primary Power Supply 5.1 AC Terminal 1 and 2 Connect the tranformer wire to terminal 1 and 2 on the panel. Ue no more than 70 ft. of 16 gauge or 40 ft. of 18 gauge wire between the tranformer and the XR150/XR550 Serie. Alway ground the panel before applying power to any device: The XR150/XR550 Serie mut be properly grounded before connecting any device or applying power to the panel. Proper grounding protect againt Electrotatic Dicharge (ESD) that can damage ytem component. See the Earth ground ection. 5.2 Tranformer Type Ue Model 327CAN (16.5 Vac 50 VA) plug-in or Model FTA7516 from ATC Frot. The tranformer mut be connected to an unwitched 120 Vac 60 Hz electrical outlet with at leat.87a of available current. Never hare the tranformer output with any other equipment. 5.3 J12 3-Pin Header for Tranformer Type Place the jumper on the left two pin for a Maimum 2 Amp (Bell+Au+Smoke+XBUS+LX500-LX900) when uing the Model 327CAN plug-in tranformer (default). Ue an ATC Frot FTA7516 tranformer and place the jumper on the right two pin for a Maimum, 3 Amp (Bell+Au+Smoke+XBUS+LX500-LX900). 9

14 INSTALLATION Secondary Power Supply 6.1 Battery Terminal 3 and 4 Connect the black battery lead to the negative battery terminal. The negative terminal connect to the encloure ground internally through the XR150/XR550 Serie circuit board. Connect the red battery lead to the battery poitive terminal. Oberve polarity when connecting the battery. You can add a econd battery in parallel uing the DMP Model 318 Dual Battery Harne. DMP recommend connecting to a cold water pipe, ground rod, or building ground only. Do not connect to an electrical ground or conduit, prinkler or ga pipe, or to a telephone company ground. 6.3 Battery Only Retart When powering up the XR150/XR550 Serie panel without AC power, briefly hort acro the battery tart pad to pull in the battery cutoff relay. The lead need a momentary hort only. Once the relay ha pulled in, the battery voltage hold it in that condition. If the XR150/XR550 Serie panel i powered up with an AC tranformer, the battery cutoff relay i pulled in automatically. For more information refer to Figure Battery Replacement Period DMP recommend replacing the battery every 3 to 5 year under normal ue. 6.5 Dicharge/Recharge The XR150/XR550 Serie battery charging circuit float charge at 13.8VDC at a maimum current of 1.0 Amp. Lited below are the variou battery voltage level condition: Battery Trouble: Below 11.9VDC Battery Cutoff: Below 10.2VDC Battery Retored: Above 12.6VDC 6.6 Battery Superviion The XR150/XR550 Serie tet the battery when AC power i preent. The tet i done every three minute and lat for five econd. During the tet, the panel place a load on the battery; if the battery voltage fall below 11.9VDC a low battery i detected. If AC power i not preent, a low battery i detected any time the battery voltage fall below 11.9VDC. If a low battery i detected with AC power preent, the tet repeat every two minute until the battery charge above 12.6VDC indicating the battery ha retored voltage. If a weak battery i replaced with a fully charged battery, the retored battery will not be detected until the net two minute tet i completed. 6.7 Battery Cutoff The panel diconnect the battery any time the battery voltage drop below 10.2VDC. Thi prevent battery deep dicharge damage. 10

15 INSTALLATION 6.8 XR150/XR550 Serie Canadian Power Requirement During AC power failure, the XR150/XR550 Serie panel and all connected auiliary device draw their power from the battery. All device mut be taken into conideration when calculating the battery tandby capacity. The following table lit the XR150/XR550 Serie panel power requirement. You mut add the additional current draw of keypad, zone epanion module, moke detector output, and any other auiliary device ued in the ytem for the total current required.
