1. Product description 1.1. The three main functions of the BZ 500 LSN are: 1. Displaying messages The display element is a 2-line LCD display (2 x 40 characters) with background lighting which is switched on automatically when it receives messages or manually with a keystroke. The display is controlled via the ZALE 10. LEDs are used as common displays. Two parallel ATE 100 LSN displays for 64 detector points can be built in to signal alarms visually. 2. For operating / processing incoming messages Both operating the entire alarm receiving station and processing incoming messages are carried out at the operating and display panel of the BZ 500 LSN. The main detection unit is operated using membrane keys and each keystroke is confirmed with an acoustic signal. The BZ 500 LSN can be supplied with two key switches, each with two switching positions (optional). The switch assignment is freely programmable. e.g. Switch 1: Changeover from day to night service Switch 2: Switch on/ shut down local alarm system 3. Recording and storing information A log printer is connected to record messages. A buffer memory will save up to 255 messages The four function blocks of the BZ 500 LSN are: Central point with ZALE 10 unit. Connection point with ANNE 10 unit and the central interfaces. Operating and display panel. Power supply. Seite 4 von 52

1.3. onitoring the function The control system for the main detection unit has built- in test software which monitors the system s function continuously. This test software executes the following tasks while operating, working permanently in the background: onitoring communications between BZ 500 and LSN elements onitoring the fuses onitoring the processor function (watchdog) onitoring the program memory Testing the main memory (only when the system is enabled) Failure of an LSN element On a ring main, the function reliability of the system is maintained even if a failure occurs, ie all LSN elements - with the exception of the defective LSN element - remain monitored. The system automatically creates two spur lines in this case, which take over monitoring both sides up to the defective element. In case of a break in a spur, none of the LSN elements downstream of the break point will be reachable and will be reported as malfunctioning. 6 Wire break in the ring main An interruption will be detected when it is no longer possible to reach the LSN elements. The location of the interruption is determined without switching off the LSN elements, while the non- reachable LSN elements from the other side of the ring are reinitialized. The ring is then automatically separated into two spurs operating independently of each other. In case of a break in a spur, none of the LSN elements downstream of the rupture point will be reachable and will be reported as malfunctioning. E2 E1 E2 E1 E3 E3 Spur 1 E4 Ring ain detection unit E4 Spur 2 ain detection unit E5 E6 E5 E Short circuit in the ring main If a short circuit occurs in the bus lines of the main detection unit when the system is operating, this will result in a current surge which exceeds the short circuit threshold. The LSN elements (slaves) will then be switched off by the main detection unit and disconnected from the network application (master). The slaves will then immediately start up automatically, the short circuit threshold will be exceeded and the slaves will shutdown once again. At the same time, the last LSN element successfully started up will be recorded and the location of the short circuit thus ascertained. In the system start-up described below, the LSN elements will be reinitialized and the ring will automatically be divided into two spurs. All LSN elements will continue to be reachable. In case of a short circuit on a spur, none of the LSN elements downstream of the short circuit will be reachable and will be reported as malfunctioning. Seite 6 von 52

1.4. Function/system description System description LSN local security network The LSN technology installed guarantees that all detectors and control elements on the fire detection system are connected in a manner that uses minimal wiring, yet still complies with regulations. LSN technology is a digital, bi- directional transmission system which takes over the task of transferring information from the main detection unit to the peripherals and vice versa. The transmission system operates on the master/slave principle. The NVU processing converter in the main detection unit is the master and the connected LSN elements are the slaves. The master polls the system by sending the address of the slave and the slave then responds by sending its information back. When controlling, the master gives the slave the control information according to the address. The slaves are connected by two wires to the connection board and from there to the NVU processing converter. Information transfer takes place by voltage level from master to slave and by current level in the reverse direction. When a ring is being configured, the information query is issued alternately from either one or the other end. An address is given automatically ( communication address ) when the slaves (LSN elements) are being initialised. 9 Detector group formation With the LSN, it is also possible to form a detector group within a NVU (ZALE 10 or ERLE 10) as shown below. Detector group 3 DG 2 eldergruppe Detector group 11 Detector group 4 ZALE 10 Detector group 5 Detector group 6 DG 7 BZ 500 LSN Detector group 8 ERLE Detector/detector group shutdown On the LSN, individual detector groups are disconnectable, i.e. individual detector groups will no longer be monitoring. Individual detectors are shut down using the control panel on the main detection unit. When the detectors are switched off, alarms are no longer relayed. If a detector is removed, however, this will still be detected and a message sent to the main detection unit. Detector group 1 Spur line ZALE BZ Detector group 2 DG Loop 50 ERLE 10 Seite 9 von 52

Individual detector identification All LSN elements are individually identifiable. Conventional GLT detectors which are connected using LSN couplers cannot be localized individually. Individual detector identification is required: if the detectors are mounted in the intermediate floor or ceiling and cannot therefore be checked externally. if a detector group covers multiple rooms. 2/4 Detector 2/1 1/8 1/7 ain detection unit 2/5 2/3 Group 2 2/2 1/5 Group 1 1/6 1/3 1/4 3/1 Group 3 3/2 3/3 3/4 3/5 Detector 1/1 1/ Cross-fire section primary line routing Thanks to the operational reliability of ring mains in which line malfunctions or defective LSN elements are isolated without affecting the system, it is possible to monitor multiple fire sections using only one ring main (German VdS certification includes this feature). ain detection unit E E Detector range 3 E E E E E Detector range 1 E Detector range 2 E E E E E E Fire section A Fire section B Seite 11 von 52

4.3. ÜE transmission device The BZ 500 LSN can drive one item of transmission device. You can drive the ÜE with 12 V or 24 V (with 24 V, only with an ERWE 10 voltage transformer) FBF fire service operating console The fire service FBF operating console is an additional device for main fire detection units with ÜE transmission device to the fire service and displays specific and vital operating status information from the fire detection unit. The standardized, uniform shape of the display and operating elements enables operational personnel from the fire service to recognise specific information on the status of the main detection unit and to carry out operational procedures immediately. The fire service control console is located in a lockable casing and is positioned next to the main fire detection unit. The key to the control console is held by the fire service. The FBF is supplied with 2m of connecting cable and can be connected directly to the main detection unit SD key deposit The SD key deposit contains an object key which is stored securely in the SD and can be accessed by the fire brigade when a fire alarm is triggered. The SD can be connected directly to the main detection unit Signal units Signal units for a local alarm system using the NSB 100 LSN network control fire coupler, monitored or not monitored, can be connected to the fire panel. The signal units are activated (with/without an acknowledgement message) by current amplification or polarity reversal. An audio- frequency generator must be built into all acoustic signal units. The signal units at the BZ 500 LSN control panel can be: switched off, triggered manually, reset after triggering. Acoustic and optical signal units (flashing light) can be connected. You require the UAR universal connection relay for monitored control of additional devices. Seite 18 von 52

4.7. Fire- extinguishing devices One extinguishing zone can be connected in the basic expansion of the BZ 500 LSN (NVU 1). A second extinguishing zone can be connected using the ERLE 10 (NVU 2) expansion units. An extinguishing system is connected using the NSB 100 LSN network control coupler - fire Dialling terminals The main receiving unit for automatic dialling and transmission terminals (main AWUG receiving unit) receives messages from automatic dialling and transmission terminals over the public telephone network. The following dialling terminals can be connected: AT 2000 Alarm transceiver AWAG Automatic dialling and message terminals Alarm transmitted using AWUG/AWAG Dialling terminals are controlled by the main EXT- AL ( external alarm) C- point detection unit. If the message is not received (unsuccessful call attempts) or the telephone line fails the alarm is transmitted to the sensor (local alarm system). Fault message transmitted using AWUG/AWAG Dialling terminals are started up using the main STOE ( fault) C-point detection unit. Trigger criteria are, for example, a network failure or battery failure, or the main detection unit not operating DR 2020 log printer The log printer is available as a tabletop device or may be fastened to the wall and is connected to the main detection unit using a 20mA interface. The DR 2020 has a metallic paper printer and prints multiline alarm and fault messages together with the date and time. A device for reeling up the log tape enables you to check the log at any time. The transformer must be used if the transmission device and sensors are driven by 24V and if the following LSN elements are connected: NSB 100 LSN NBK 100 LSN NTK 100 LSN ATE 100 LSN display board (RT or GE) The parallel display for 32 detector groups (G) counts as 1 LSN element. One ATE 100 LSN (RT or GE) for 32 Gs can be installed as an expansion assembly in the BZ 500 LSN. An ATE 100 LSN (RT) is contained in the BZ 500 LSN G-EAZ. Key switch 2 key switches can be installed in the front panel of the BZ 500 for auxiliary functions (e.g. shutting down a local alarm, day/night switch). Seite 32 von 52

Features of the internal expansion assemblies RTP relay card The RTP is plugged into the ANNE 10 connection board (see p. 28). The RTP has 4 relays for isolated outputs of central functions (one changeover contact for each relay). Several relays (a maximum of all 4 relays) can be controlled from one C-point by means of soldered jumpers on the printed board. TRN Board relay module The TRN is plugged into the ANNE 10 connection board (see p. 28). The TRN has 2 relays for isolated outputs of central functions (one changeover contact for each relay). NRK-N Network relay card The NRK-N is plugged into the ANNE 10 connection board (see p. 28). The NRK-N has 2 relays for isolated outputs (one switch contact for 230 V for each relay). The relays are directly controlled by means of C- points. TRSP Display relay printed board The TRSP carries up to 5 display relay modules. The 5 TRNs can be variably controlled from points of the board. Up to 4 relays can be controlled from one point of the board. UAR Universal connection relay The UAR is triggered from the main unit by means of an LSN coupler and serves to control additional equipment in monitored control lines. OD 300 modem The modem allows the transmission of data even on lines which will not conduct direct current. It has no dialling terminal and is connected to the CO by means of an S 24 interface module. It is connected according to DIN The guidelines for operating equipment in the German public telephone network were taken into consideration. As a result, it can be used in both public and private networks. Using a modem instead of an serial interface, you achieve a greater range for interconnected fire panels, within a customer s own network. A point-to-point connection with a 2-wire copper cable is required between the terminals to be interconnected. In full duplex mode, data is transferred at 300 bits/second. Seite 33 von 52

Serial interfaces A serial interface is contained in the basic version of the BZ 500 LSN, whereby the mode of transmission is selected via an optional S 20 or S 24 interface module. There is a total of 3 serial interfaces available with the ERSE 10 interface ex- pansion and the S 20 (for 20 ma interfaces) or S 24 (for V.24 interfaces) interface modules. Large volumes of data can be transmitted using the interface modules. This allows for the line- saving interconnection of main detection units and networking without losing any of the performance features. Various connection methods are possible for the interfaces, depending on the distance between the BZ 500 LSN and the connected units. S-24 interface module (V.24 interface), if connected units are located in the vicinity of the main detection unit (max. range 25 m). The S 24 can be connected to all 3 serial interfaces. S-20 interface module (20 ma interface) at distances greater than 25 m (maximum range 1,000 m). The S 20 can be placed on all 3 serial interfaces. The following devices can, if remote and monitored, be connected to the main detection unit via a serial interface: UG 2020 (higher-level GZ) (via S 20) UG 2000 (higher-level GZ) (via S 20) RUBIN (via S 20) DR 2020 log printer (via S 20) odem OD 300 (via S 24) Switching outputs In addition to the programmed central C- points, there are a further 4 freely programmable central C- points available. Using the optional relay modules RTP relay card, with 4 relays and one changeover contact each TRN board relay module, with 2 relays and one changeover contact each the open collector outputs can be connected in an electrically- isolated manner. Seite 34 von 52

Backup memory The last 255 events (alarms, faults, shutdowns, main unit resets) are stored together with the date and time in the backup memory of the BZ 500 LSN. The stored events can be shown on the display. The action of activating/deactivating the code function is also stored in the backup memory along with the relevant user ID. Time switch The time switch function is implemented by means of software in the main detection unit. The data for the time switch is entered using a PC/laptop (connection to V.24 interface). Performance features: Automatic changeover to summer/winter time Automatic day/night switching OT 200/300/400 LSN changeover Reset options Group reset: Individual reset: reset all messages / triggers reset individual messages Inspection The detector groups (or blocks) are also switched to Inspection before the inspection. The inspection alarms are stored in the main detection unit until they are reset and are also output via the interface. A one-man inspection (ER) can be carried out. Each detector of a detector group switched to Inspection is triggered. The detector flashes to confirm that it has been triggered. Seite 35 von 52

Extinguishing equipment control via VdS interface A fire-extinguishing system is always connected to the BZ 500 LSN using a VdS interface. The fire-extinguishing equipment is controlled (LA) and monitored (LÜ) by means of the NSB 100 LSN. One extinguishing zone can be connected in the basic expansion (NVU 1). A second extinguishing zone can be connected using the ERLE 10 (NVU 2) assembly. There are two alternative extinguishing equipment concepts: inimum design in accordance with VdS inimum design in accordance with VdS with additional options Design in accordance with VdS (1-3) 1. Two-group dependency may be necessary as a result of risk-related stipulations (building regulations, VdS, fire services etc.). 2. The fire- extinguishing equipment is controlled by automatic fire detectors, and must not be controlled by manual fire call points. Control of the transmission device by means of fire detectors is dependent on the connecting conditions stipulated by the local fire services. 3. In individual cases it may be possible to control the extinguishing zones from one detector group (e.g. when there is a build-up of fumes for operational reasons or when using maximum temperature detectors). Design in accordance with VdS with additional options (1-7) 4. Optical and acoustic sensors are used for triggering a pre- alarm. The connection conditions stipulated by the local fire services must be observed. 5. An alarm is shown at the BZ when the extinguishing areas are triggered. These messages can be used for further control functions (e.g. switching off the air conditioning and ventilation system, controlling the transmission device). The connection conditions stipulated by the local fire services must be observed. 6. The transmission to the BZ of additional operating modes of the extinguishing equipment is shown as a fault (e.g. extinguishing medium loss). 7. Inspection switch (key switch) for switching off the drive circuit of the extinguishing equipment with mode display, if there is no lock at the extinguishing equipment. Seite 36 von 52

Alarm Assistance can be called for using the following options: ÜE transmission device AWAG Automatic dialling and message terminals or AWUG Automatic dialling and transmission terminals or (AWAG and AWUG only in conjunction with a local alarm or other transmission terminal) Acoustic and/or optical external sensors (local alarm) The fire alert can be assigned to two message levels in configuration. 1. essage level: External fire alarm. In the event of a fire, the local fires services are automatically alerted. 2. essage level: Internal fire alarm. In the event of a fire, assistance within the company, e.g. concierge or company fire service, is automatically called for. The key switch in the main detection unit can be used to take selected detector groups out of the external alarm level and assign them to the internal alarm level for a certain period (day switch). 3. essage level: essage (building services management system) - essage stored, e.g.: Emergency call from persons stuck in lift - essage not stored, with main unit inputs 1-16 (not monitored) e.g.: overheating of a drive unit 4. essage level: Fault messages Seite 37 von 52
