Review Date: November 28, 2013 Member: J Parrell, Mountainside, NJ Categories: Remodeling - General Services Performed: Work Completed Date: July 31, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $24, JMC remodeled a bathroom for me. The firm was very professional from beginning to end, and followed through on everything that they said they would do. great experience all the way through, from design to project management to craftsmanship. Review Date: November 22, 2013 Member: MICHEL SHREM, Randolph, NJ Services Performed: No Work Completed Date: I did NOT use JMC HOME IMPROVEMENT SPECILISTS. Called to get a quote for kitchen renovation and felt like I was being interrogated and condescended to. It was as if I was being interviewed instead of the other way around. Company Response: s a home remodeler in business since 1977, we have learned a lot and one critical element is how to best utilize our time and resources. We believe as many people we speak to that our initial phone call serves both parties well so that all of our time is valued. Most prospective clients appreciate the questions and the discussion about our process, to help educate them about remodeling and about how JMC operates. It was never my intention for our initial call to be an interrogation or to be condescending to [member name removed]. I apologize for their perception and disappointment. We love them! Review Date: November 05, 2013 Member: dam Cerutti, Basking Ridge, NJ Work Completed Date: ugust 15, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $20, Gut renovation of guest bathroom Review Date: October 21, 2013 Member: Robert D Jackson, Maplewood, NJ Categories: Remodeling - Basements Services Performed: No Work Completed Date: October 21, 2013 Last Modified Date: December 06, 2013 Hire gain: No Home Build Year: 1918 I contacted them because we wanted to have our basement remodeled in the home we just moved into. I had explained in their online form that the ceilings were low (under 7 feet), that there were potential mold issues and old (inactive) termite damage to some of the wood as well as asbestos tiles that needed to be removed. I assumed based upon their website and their advertisement as a sort of "one stop shopping" that they might either handle these issues, or could involve or refer me to someone who did before completing the work proper. I was surprised how eager they were to NOT work with us :-)...They were cordial enough, but as soon as I said that the basement wasn't completely UN-finished, they said that they were moving away from this sort of work and wanted to focus on larger projects. When I asked what sort of projects they meant, they said things like kitchen and bathroom renovations, etc...of course, since what I was asking them to do in the first place was a major gut basement renovation/re-design, etc., I was surprised that they weren't even considering our project. t the least, it felt like the impression left by their website of one-stop handling of issues, etc. wasn't quite what I had expected. I had also mentioned that we wanted some work done in the ttic (that also involved some asbestos tile removal), but also adding a new floor and generally "upgrading" it's look and functionality, but it felt like if any of the work they were required to do involve repairing or otherwise dealing with existing problems (patching up holes, fixing or removing existing floors, etc.) before doing their re-design, they weren't interested. I found this highly surprising and counter to the impression left by their website B N/ N/ N/ C

Company Response: fter spending several minutes on the phone with [member name removed], I felt that the services the homeowner required were not those that we excel in. [member name removed] was looking for a company to do remediation work, which JMC does not do. Over the years, as a company, we have evolved into a design build remodeling firm, where our qualified craftsmen do exemplary work on larger, more significant home improvements. There are companies that are specifically geared to do remediation work in mold removal, asbestos removal, termite damage, etc. [member name removed] would be best served by contacting a company (or companies) that specialize in these areas so that the work is done correctly and by experts. In addition, the project was not of the type that we are best geared to do. Review Date: October 9, 2013 Member: Pat Perlett, Denville, NJ Categories: Cabinet Making Carpentry - Woodworking Countertops Marble & Granite Plumbing Windows Work Completed Date: May 26, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $15, Home Build Year: 1928 Replaced kitchen counters (granite), lighting sink, oven, range hood, and flooring (slate tile). The whole job was smoothly coordinated and expertly accomplished. ll segments of the job required customization -- our house dates to 1920s and was originally built as a summer vacation home. Review Date: September 16, 2013 Member: Jeff, Tri-County Home Cleaning, Scotch Plains, NJ Work Completed Date: ugust 31, 2008 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $45, Home Build Year: JMC has done 2 projects for us. The first a relatively simple reno in our kid's bathroom. New tub, toilet, vanity and twin vessel sinks replaced out dated ones. ll old tile was removed and replaced and in addition, a heated floor system was installed. The guys did a great job and easily handled all the "surprises" that popped up. Our master bath was done the following year and was totally gutted to the joists and studs. We moved every fixture to a different location in the room and JMC was up to the task of moving all the plumbing with very little, if any, collateral damage. 4 foot by 8 foot spa shower was created that uses a complicated Koehler electronic flow control system. It worked flawlessly the first time. designer Kohler soaking tub was installed along with a new toilet. Separate his and her B

vanities were put in as well as new lighting and, of course, floor heating. wider casement window replaced the old window. This required a new, wider header to be installed to support the roof. This was accomplished without removing or disturbing the exterior cedar siding. When done, it was impossible to tell that window was not "original equipment". Inside the guys sheet rocked and put up cement board as needed. ll new porcelain and glass tile that works perfectly with the granite and glass shower surround was painstakingly installed. I say painstakingly since the tile guys laid out all the 20 inch by 20 inch floor tiles and then all the 13 inch by 13 inch wall tiles on my bedroom floor and moved and turned every random patterned tile until they created an image that appeared to flow from each tile to the surrounding ones. I was very impressed. Then after a paint job we were good to go. There were no surprises with the work. The guys came when scheduled and worked hard to make everything perfect. We are just about to start another project with JMC in our great room. We expect this job to be just as great as the others. We could not have gotten a better job for twice the price. John was professional. The various crews arrived on time and were very neat. Every one of his craftsmen did an amazing job and did not stop when things looked good. They worked and adjusted until things were perfect. Review Date: September 15, 2013 Member: Brittney Hoppel, lorham Park, NJ Services Performed: Work Completed Date: June 01, 2012 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $34, Home Build Year: 1938 Complete kitchen remodel, including replacement of cabinets, counter, flooring, back splash I highly recommend JMC! They recently completed our kitchen remodel, and we are so happy with the results! It was our first big remodeling project, and I was nervous about hiring a contractor as I d heard so many horror stories. But John MacDougall and his fantastic team made everything so easy. Tammy s design is beautiful and fits our needs perfectly, and Jack kept the project running smoothly, finishing on time and on budget. The entire team clearly communicated every step so that we knew what to expect, which took a lot of the anxiety out of a major renovation project! We are so thrilled with our new kitchen that we are now planning a bathroom remodel with JMC!

Review Date: September 10, 2013 Member: Jane Hayward, Mountain Lakes, NJ Services Performed: No Work Completed Date: September 10, 2013 Hire gain: No Called for an estimate and was told they were not interested. Called JMC to arrange an estimate to complete a bathroom renovation in my home. I explained to the woman on the phone that my DIY husband began the renovation (demolition) 5 years ago and did not complete the project (sound familiar anyone?) The woman told me told me they were not interested in doing the work. She explained they only do renovation work on projects they begin from the start and they are not interested in completing work someone else started. I explained my husband began the work but lost interest and that he has finally agreed to hire a contractor to complete the work. She said this is not work they do and even if it was - they are not available anytime soon. The earliest time they are available is late November. Not very helpful and not the experience I expected after reading all these great reviews. Very disappointed. Company Response: The best match of homeowner to company depends on the type of job being requested and the skills of the craftsmen in the company. We pride ourselves in our gut-to-completion processes. We have honed our skills over the past 35 years in these processes and know that a homeowner who has started a project is best suited to work with a contractor who has a lot of experience going in and retrofitting what has already been done. In terms of our ability to start a project, we usually can schedule the start of a project approximately six weeks after a contract is signed. Typically, this means that a project will start about three months after a homeowner has begun the process with us, which includes the initial in-home consultation. We are very lucky to be in this position and appreciate the fact that we are in this position due to repeat and referral customers. N/ N/ N/ N/ Review Date: ugust 07, 2013 Member: William Nelms, Whippany, NJ Categories: Remodeling - General Work Completed Date: ugust 06, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $12, Bathroom update John came to our home, reviewed the job to be accomplished and gave us a low key sales pitch. Showed us pictures of jobs performed and an overview of their procedures. The procedures were clear and orderly which instilled a great deal of confidence that there would likely be no surprises. The estimate was based on a careful review of the tasks to be done based on a drawing and task list from us in addition to their examination of the job site. The estimate was very detailed and included all the known tasks to be done. ollowing acceptance of the estimate, JMC drew detailed plans of the job and applied for permits. The work began by staging the materials in the garage. Laying down protective materials on the route from the garage

to work location and then doing the demolition and bringing the existing site to code. It was discovered that some of the existing structure was out of plumb to the extent that required remediation. change order was submitted and approved to fix the problem. (This is where we appreciated their procedures. Many firms will do the job and surprise you later!) ll debris was removed from the premises. JMC Installed new vanity, tub, toilet, medicine cabinet and electrical fixtures. They installed tile in the tub area. They installed new sheetrock and painted the room. What also needs to be noted is the attitude and workmanship of Greg who did the entire job with assistance as needed for tasks requiring two people. Everyone was very helpful no question went unanswered. 7 Hire gain: No pproximate Cost: Home Build Year: /19/13 - Never called back. Update - 7/22/13 The owner called me as soon as he came across this review. 7/19/13 -The first time I called JMC, I was told that John (the owner) will call me back next day as he was busy. I waited 3 days. I called the second time to check if they were interested in my business. The lady on the phone (same lady who answered the phone first time) told me that John entered another meeting, but she would connect him to me the next morning. Today is day 4 since then. This is not only unresponsive behavior, but border line insulting. Don't waste your time and get another contractor! Update - 7/22/13 John called me right away upon reading above review and was apologetic for the confusion and delay caused by his office. fter hearing out the project description, he was upfront in telling me that the work I was looking to get done was not his core competency. We agreed to part ways. By the way, he offered me to help analyze quotes from other contractors. Great gesture! Review Date: July 03, 2013 Member: Kristen Sheridan, Summit, NJ Hire gain: Yes While constructing a finished room within a large unfinished basement, JMC impressed all residents of our home with the following: demonstrated high-quality technical skill provided accurate and detailed estimates of time and costs advised and educated residents on how to achieve stated outcomes in cost-effective manner. JMC work staff was punctual and tidy. The administrative staff contacted us when necessary to advise of the arrival of inspectors and sub-contractors. The professionalism of each and every JMC employee could not be overstated. Review Date: May 31, 2013 Member: Nina Rocco, Morristown, NJ Services Performed: No Work Completed Date: pril 30, 2013 Hire gain: No pproximate Cost: $10, John came out to provide an estimate on a steam shower renovation. Though we were prepared to move forward with him, when looking to finalize the job the price estimate came back over 30% higher WITH NO CHNGE TO SCOPE or materials. Our steam shower floor was not pitched properly causing inadequate drainage and we requested estimates from several (3) general contractors. John from JMC came out and due to his reputation and price point, we wanted to move forward. We asked for recent references with similar jobs and similar price points. Though we wanted to move quickly and expressed as much, it took the office over a week to produce them. I explicitly asked for 2-3 numbers but they spent time compiling a list N/ C N/ D C

of several pages which was unnecessary and time lost. We called some references then reached out again to John to start the process. We were shocked at the difference in price he came back with when absolutely nothing in the job scope, materials, or requirements had changed. Below was our response to JMC. Their response acknowledged that the initial estimate was too rough and approximate. n increase of over 35% is unacceptable and I worry over that kind of unanticipated increase had we started the work with JMC. "We were both surprised and disappointed that your estimate came back higher. I am confident that there was nothing that had changed in terms of scope between the phone conversation on riday and your initial visit. Suggesting that the initial estimate was a ballpark doesn t account enough for the fact that the new estimate is an increase of over 35%. That variance in deviation implies that either the initial estimate wasn t taken seriously or thoroughly enough or suggests that such a large variance is acceptable which wouldn t make us feel comfortable that additional things wouldn t be found throughout the course of the project." s someone involved in executing global, complex technology projects at an Investment Bank, I did find the initial phone interrogation and pedantic review of their project management practices a bit condescending. I'm sure it's helpful to novices but the assumption that perhaps because we're a young family we are naive was not appreciated Company Response: My apologies for the discrepancies between the initial estimate and the actual proposal. My initial estimate was too rough and I should have acknowledged that it was an approximate price. This sometimes happens when the original estimate is based on superficial information. When we dig deeper into the existing conditions and find issues that need to be fixed before starting new work, this does increase the original estimate upon further detailing the actual proposal. When we heard back from the [removed member name], I sent a note apologizing for the discrepancies, explaining them and offered to help the [removed member name] evaluate other contractors bids. In terms of our initial phone interview, most prospective clients appreciate the questions and the discussion about our process, to help educate them about remodeling and about how JMC operates. It was never my intention for our initial call to be an interrogation nor pedantic. I apologized to the [removed member name] for their perception and disappointment. Review Date: May 03, 2013 Member: Candida Setting, Union, NJ Work Completed Date: pril 26, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $8, Home Build Year: 1942 Needed to rectify the damage that the previous DIY homeowner caused by installing their own tub & 'updating' their shower. Though our bathroom looked very nice when we first bought the house, we had no idea that our former homeowners had installed a platform/deck soaking tub in our main bathroom as opposed to a proper tub that would be part of a shower surround. Unfortunately due to a leak from holes in the grout, we had water damage behind the tile which made its way through the ceiling of our kitchen. We called upon JMC to gut our entire shower/bath area and install a proper tub/shower surround. We also had them install an updated toilet to unify the space.

JMC were professional and efficient from start to finish. John came out to our home, when it was convenient with our schedule, & asked questions not only about the job and our budget, but also what we were looking for in a contractor. He made us feel completely at ease as this was our first time hiring a contractor to do any work on our home. He came up with plans & products that were of high quality while working within our budget. When the work began, they were as respectful of our home as if was their own. They cleaned up at the end of each work day so we could use the still-functioning bathroom utilities. The new tub was a shorter length so they had to build out part of the wall, and they made it look completely seamless. Once they were done, you honestly couldn't believe that there was ever another tub/tile surround in place there as it fits in perfectly with the current fixtures/home style. They stayed within their estimated timeline for completion, answered every question/concern we had, and stayed within our estimated budget. Every member of their staff has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Our bathroom not only looks beautiful but is also fully functional...finally! We are so thrilled with their work; we are also using them for a complete kitchen remodel/expansion as well. We've scheduled that job to start within the month. The work that they have done is very nice. They are very clean, and protected everything in my home well. JMC was very kind and professional while they were in my home. They even have gone out of their way to make sure we are satisfied. I am so satisfied with the work they have done, that I am having them redo deck as well. I would recommend them to anyone! 10 Electrical looring Sales/Installation/Repair Lighting Painting - Interior Remodeling - General Work Completed Date: January 31, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $165, Home Build Year: 1967 The scope of the project involved a completely new kitchen (maple cabinets, quartz countertops tile floor), removal of a bearing wall between the kitchen and family room to open up the floor plan (required structural modifications), new guest bathroom, new powder room and new laundry room. In addition, we replaced all of the interior and exterior doors, refinished the existing oak floors and added new oak flooring in parts of the house that had vinyl tile, replaced iron railings and banisters with oak and painted the entire interior. JMC provided substantial assistance in designing the project and was very helpful in guiding us through the selection of materials, colors and finishes. We hired JMC to remodel our entire house and we are 100% delighted with the results. JMC was very helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. We did a considerable amount of planning prior to the actual start of construction and JMC was extremely helpful in planning and laying out the remodeled house. We had a kitchen layout in mind when we started, but they come up with an alternate layout that is far superior to what we would have done without their help - we are very pleased with it. The construction crew was very good about cleaning up at the end of each workday and was flexible in accommodating our needs throughout the job. Everyone on the crew was very competent and did high quality work. We have to give a special plug to George - he is one talented carpenter! ll in all, working with JMC was a pleasant experience and we recommend them highly. 11 Review Date: pril 23, 2013 Member: Thomas Wilson, Randolph, NJ Categories: Windows Work Completed Date: pril 08, 2013 Last Modified Date: pril 27, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $7, Home Build Year: 1970 Removal of old double-hung sash and installation of 12 new vinyl replacement windows. JMC did such an excellent job with remodeling our downstairs lower level that we brought them back to do a job I'd been procrastinating on for years. ll of our upstairs bedrooms, plus the downstairs bedroom and bath, had old and tired doublehung sash windows. fter 40+ years, none of the windows sealed particularly well, even with storm windows in place. The sash itself was old, with crumbling putty and dated cross-bars. We had JMC remove and replace a total of 12 windows with double-hung vinyl replacements designed to fit inside the framing of the old window. The new units are best quality steel-reinforced vinyl with triple seals and tilt-in sash for easy cleaning. Having done a couple of these style replacement windows on a prior home, I knew the process fairly well. My one major requirement was that all work be completed from the exterior of the home, with no damage to the interior sills and molding. When it comes to replacement windows, the quality of the installation is just as important - and possible more so - than the quality of the windows themselves. JMC did an exceptional job of removing the old sash in such a manner so as to avoid damage to the framing and existing trim. New windows were carefully installed and trued up to ensure long-term trouble free operation of the sash. ny gaps were carefully foamed, the new windows were trimmed on the exterior with a clean zek strip, and all joints were caulked and sealed to ensure an air-tight installation. George and Rick, the two craftsmen, did an excellent job and ensured that the interiors were left in perfect condition post-installation., we're extremely pleased with the results, and already enjoying the ease of operation and enhanced view afforded by our new windows. Review Date: pril 04, 2013 Member: Lynda Sandersen, Gillette, NJ Categories: Remodeling Kitchen & Bathroom Work Completed Date: January 28, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $18, Complete remodel of guest bath plus some components of 2 powder rooms replaced.

We used JMC to remodel a very outdated guest bathroom as well as replace some fixtures in 2 powder rooms, and it could not have gone better. rom start to finish, the JMC team took great care of us and our home. The team at the office makes planning, designing, and scheduling all the work extremely easy. We didn't have the time (or energy) to go to a million showrooms or wade through countless catalogs to figure out exactly what we wanted, but we had a general idea. The JMC designer helped us figure things out and put together a great package for us, without all the running around. (This process was so quick and easy, I can't imagine ever doing it all myself. However, my understanding is that if you want to source your own fixtures, JMC can accommodate that as well.) Once your project is scheduled, the project manager makes sure you know exactly what to expect over the course of the work, so there were no surprises. Every person that came to our home was prompt and friendly and did great work. We were expecting the project to be a huge disruption, but the JMC team worked hard to make the process as smooth and easy as possible. I'd sum it up as quality work and a great overall experience at a fair price. Review Date: March 16, 2013 Member: Julie McDonald, Scotch Plains, NJ Category: Ceramic Tile Closets Remodeling - General Work Completed Date: November 05, 2012 Last Modified Date: ugust 08, 2013 Hire gain: Yes pproximate Cost: $14, Home Build Year: 1958 JMC completely gutted our downstairs bathroom, including removing a linen closet, installing double sinks, replacing bathtub and all tiles. JMC made things very easy. We have three small children and can't run around to different stores and hauling stuff around. We met with a designer at their showroom and within an hour, we had selected everything. It was terrific - so efficient and we loved having the designer's input. Everything we chose was standard. We only added an extra towel rack. The first morning, the workers arrived, demolished the bathroom and hauled everything away and cleaned up. No mess and no dumpster. Every morning, we'd get a call from a polite worker who would inform us when he would arrive. Things got crazy during the Superstorm, but our project manager kept checking in to see when our power was restored. The project manager checked in several times and came over several times. John, the head of the company, checked in several times as well. We felt very well taken care of. The finish product is gorgeous. We still can't believe it's our bathroom. We absolutely will use JMC again the future. B

John was very easy to contact and set up an estimate. He was very courteous, helpful, responsive and willing to perform the job. The crew was great and we had absolutely no issues. They were respectful, punctual, and constructed a beautiful landing and utility box in the basement. The basement walls and molding are perfect. They did a great job with the other (less desirable) odd jobs that needed completion. I would definitely use them again. It was easy and smooth! B Review Date: March 14, 2013 Member: Obdulio Gerena, Hopatcong, NJ Category: Remodeling - General Work Completed Date: March 5, 2013 Last Modified Date: March 26, 2013 Hire gain: No I used JMC Home Improvement Specialists about a month and a half ago. I actually had to call them a couple of times. The first time they said he would call me back and he never did. The second time the lady got my information and someone did call me back. Then they put me on hold for about ten minutes and another gentleman comes on the phone asks for the house location and asked me what I was wanting done. I told him I wanted a remodel of the entire first floor and we were looking to do everything. I explained how I wanted it done and he said, how much are you willing to spend. nd I thought, if you haven't even seen the project, how can you ask me that. Then he said, according to what I was telling him, he was not going to be a fit for me. Our budget was between $50,000 and $60,000, then he said, hold on we can talk. Then I said no, you understood that I wanted a $500 or $1,000 job and then he said that was not what he meant. I said that was what he meant, if I didn't give him my money he was not going to come to my house. So for me that would not work out because I could not trust him. He wanted to know my budget and I felt uncomfortable telling him that before he even looked at the project. The approach from him was no good. fter this call I did receive a letter in the mail asking to keep the company in mind for future projects, but I would never use them. N/ N/ C

Company Response: We get calls daily from people who want estimates for all different situations. ll prospective customers talk to me, John MacDougall, the owner of JMC Home Improvement Specialists. We go through an initial questionnaire with every prospective customer so that we can maximize both the prospect s time and ours to ensure there s a good fit between the homeowner and our company. We often find that people are fishing for estimates for financing, insurance purposes, making sure that their contractor is not charging too much and other reasons which do not include actually wanting to hire our company. Our initial questionnaire helps the customer clarify their needs and understand how we work at JMC. There are times however, when a prospective customer gets offended by our questions or doesn t understand why we are asking them. My apologies to (deleted member name) as I was under the impression that he only wanted an estimate to bring to the bank for his financing. I tried to let him know that we do not give estimates for financing acquisitions. s always, I treated (deleted member name) with respect and tried to explain myself as best as I could. gain, my apologies if I was wrong. Please understand that this was a conversation and no work was done. I interpreted (deleted member name) need was to get an estimate to assist him in getting a loan only. I tried to help him understand that we do not provide that service. In addition the work that he described was not the type of work that our company specializes in. I feel that I treated (deleted member name) with respect and tried to explain myself as best as I could. NO WORK WS DONE WITH T (deleted member name) HOME. They canceled the first one. I called them again for the schedule. Talked to John, maybe owner of the company. He is so rude to hang up the phone during the initial conversation. He could have talked in other way better than "hanging up". I feel terrible. I have had lots of renovation work done with many different contractors and I have to say this was the most bizarre and rude encounter we have had. I will also have to warn all my friends and family about him. Company Response: s the owner of JMC, I always feel badly when a client or prospective client feels that they were not treated with courtesy and respect. I believe in this situation, we had a breakdown in communication which led to the customer s response. Our goal is to always be courteous, respectful and to listen. Please go on to read from the many happy and satisfied customers who have spoken on our behalf about the positive experience they had with JMC. N/ N/ N/ N/

Review Date: ebruary 20, 2013 Member: Tom Healy, Livingston, NJ Category: Remodeling Kitchen & Bathroom Services Performed: No Work Completed Date: ebruary 20, 2013 Hire gain: No Home Build Year: 1957 We are looking to put an addition to our existing kitchen. I sent a message through their website on Sunday 2/17. I received a call back from Debbie on Monday 2/18. She took down my information and explained that John the owner would give me a call back the next day. I received a call again from Debbie Wednesday afternoon 2/20 asking if it was a good time to speak to John. I said yes and had to wait for few minutes till John came on the line. Immediately John started asking me a whole host of questions about my previous experiences with contractors. t first I was appreciative of his questions as I thought he was trying to understand us as clients better. But after the first few questions, it started feeling like an interrogation. He asked almost nothing about the project in question. He was hung up about the fact that I had a separate ongoing renovation project with another contractor. I explained that this contractor does deck and roofing work and not kitchens. But John seemed suspicious of why I wanted to hire another contractor when I already had one. One project has nothing to do with the other! The final straw came when John said he can give me either a 4 or 5.30 PM appointment. I explained that both my husband and I work and would need a later appointment or a weekend visit. t this point he curtly informed me this was not a good fit. I have had lots of renovation work done with many different contractors and I have to say this was the most bizarre and rude encounter we have had. I will also have to warn all my friends and family about him. Company Response: few of the major reasons we have remained in business for over 35 years is our on-going communication with our customers, our respect for them, and their homes. Unfortunately, once in awhile, communication breaks down. s the owner, I feel it s important to find out more about the needs and wants from a prospective new customer so that I could make sure s/he is completely satisfied. nd, during the conversation with this member, there were no times available that week when the member was available. I m sorry for in the inconvenience. Please go on and read all the great reviews where work was done. 17 I contacted JMC in late ugust and told them I wanted to do a complete remodel of my kitchen and that it absolutely must be done by Christmas as I had out of town guests coming. John and Tammy from the design center worked with me for several weeks tweaking the plan so that it would fit within my budget and demand for a high end result. They were very understanding and accommodating. Work began on November 6 as scheduled. Considering the fact that our power was restored from hurricane sandy just 2 days prior, it is a miracle that they started on time! The JMC crew always called before they arrived at the house and they always left the worksite clean. One of the best things about them is that they showed up every single day until the job was done (with a couple of understandable exceptions for backordered materials). I never felt uncomfortable leaving JMC workers at my house unattended. Like any major project, we hit a couple of snags along the way because of unanticipated issues that arose or because I changed some of my requirements. I also added a couple side projects. The JMC team always handled these changes with professionalism and always provided pricing for change orders before doing additional work. My Kitchen was completed on December 22 (just on time) and it is just beautiful. The project included completely gutting the kitchen and taking down a wall between the kitchen and dining room, Redesigning the entire space, replacing all cabinets, countertops, backsplash, electrical and duct work, installing hardwood floors, refinishing hardwood floors on the entire first floor, replacing rear door. I also had them install new tile in my entryway and install a new door in my garage which required considerable siding work. DDITIONL QUESTIONS NSWERED WHEN COMPLETING THIS REVIEW How much did the final cost compare to the original estimate? Right on How does the value of the work compare to the price? I got exactly what I paid for. How far in advance did you schedule the work? More than 2 weeks Did you find the company through ngie s List? yes If yes, which source(s)? Website Why did you choose this contractor? Reputatoin Have you used this company before? This is the first time I ve used this company What did you like most about this contractor? work, friendly people. What did you like least about this contractor? Communication What surprises came up during the course of the work? Some plumbing needed to be moved, some rotting wood, additional things I asked for. What words of advice would you give other members considering this contractor? Don t hesitate, they do a great job What words of advice would you give this contractor? Improve communication (already told them)this your space. eel free to give us your two cents or quote your favorite movie? I wish ngie s List had a way to sort reviews for those who did work and those who didn t. There are several bad reviews written by people who never even contracted with a contractor for work
