3 GLOBAL OFFICE DESIGN Design Studio Project, Spring 2016 Location: Beijing, China The program is to design an office for a tech company. The task is to conduct extensive research and come up with a design that responds to the needs of the company and supports local and international employees. 4 UP Circulation Circulation DN DESIGN CONCEPT Bamboo Forest Amazon River Conceptual Graphic Bamboo forest is an iconic scenery of China. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant. It represents the developing speed of the company, and the company name is inspired by the largest river in the world. Two elements inspire the conceptual graphic, the vertical lines represent bamboo, and the blank space represents the river. Bloging Diagram All workstations were placed close to each other to improve collaboration. Open floor plan layout is used to improve visual connectivity and encourage interactions. Extra workstations in the quiet area and nooks are provided to support different work styles. Game room, large kitchenette, various types of breakout spaces keep the staffs active while indoor plant and natural sunlight will boost the energy level of all the works. 5 UP R E F. R E F. MONUMENTAL STAIR: made of bamboo, a local and sustainable material. It is at the center of the space provide easy access. The screen is made of bamboo cut two sides vertically. The seat provides space for break out and casual meeting. KITCHENETTE AND BREAK OUT: Space is designed for multi functions, dining, meeting, and break out. Furniture is mobile friendly.

WORKSTATION: Open floor plan is used to create the collaborative atmosphere. Video conference rooms and small breakout spaces are provided throughout the office space for convenience. Most of the partition walls are writable.

7 EUREKA PALOUSE MAKER SPACE Design Studio Project, Fall 2015 Location: Moscow, Idaho Eureka Palouse Maker space is an adaptive reuse project. The program called for the design of the 2nd floor of the Frontier building to be a STEM education and 4H program space. The new in renovated space must accommodate many different functions such as Tinker space (for wood, metal, plastic, and electronic lab), wet lab, computer lab, classroom, tutoring rooms, offices, storages, reception area, play room, lounge, and small kitchen. 9 FINISH MATERIALS TINKER SPACE Tinker Space is the studying space to learn wood, electronic, metal, and plastic works. The acrylic panels between the columns provide privacy feeling but retain visibility from the club space. Movable tables and tool hangers are recycled products obtained from surplus. LACROSSE POP-UP MUSEUM Design Studio Project, Fall 2015 Location: LaCrosse, Washington The project is designing a cargo box into a temporary visitor center/pop-up museum for the city of LaCrosse, WA.

The city needs a place in the town for community gatherings and for visitors to take a rest and to get to know about the town.

10 LACROSSE POP-UP MUSEUM Design Studio Project, Fall 2015 Location: LaCrosse, Washington The project is designing a cargo box into a temporary visitor center/pop-up museum for the city of LaCrosse, WA. This visitor center will be used as a gathering space and an exhibition space for ice age flood from Glacial Lake Missoular exhibition. The city needs a place in the town for community gatherings and for visitors to take a rest and to get to know about the town. The museum and site were designed to look like a small glacial erratic park in the center of the city. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN New England Institute of Technology, Winter, 2011 Site Location: Stonington, Connecticut The project is to design a single family home near a sea shore of Stonington, Connecticut.

The design took advantage of the view and fresh air of the sea by providing large windows and doors and placing living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and decks at the back of the house facing the sea.

The task is to conduct extensive zoning code research, flood resistance structure, write a contract, schematic design, design development, and construction documents. The design took advantage of the view and fresh air of the sea by providing large windows and doors and placing living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and decks at the back of the house facing the sea. WINE RACK DESIGN Furniture Design, Fall 2015 The project is to design a wine rack system that for using in residential, retails stores, and restaurants.

The design objectives are to create wine rack that can be easily assembled by everyone, toolless installation, uses the least material, and can be expandable to any directions.

14 WINE RACK DESIGN Furniture Design, Fall 2015 The project is to design a wine rack system that for using in residential, retails stores, and restaurants. Honeycomb shape inspires the design because it has a strong structure and using the minimum amount of material. The design objectives are to create wine rack that can be easily assembled by everyone, toolless installation, uses the least material, and can be expandable to any directions. This wine rack needs to be light and convenient for shipping. These goals were achieved through the combination of just two components, the bone and the skin made of plywood.
