1 The new Norwood Public Library is based on a lot that is a few blocks south of Highway 145 (Main Street) in Norwood, Colorado at the intersection of Pine Street and San Miguel Street. It is owned by the library district, but is outside of the town limits of Norwood. It is a long and narrow site with an area approximately 11.8 acres. While the primary function of this new building will be for the library, in the process of designing, we found opportunities to add versatile spaces that can be used by the town; such as the multi-purpose room. The library will be a center for education, gathering, and chamber of commerce. The library will be accessible to people of all ages, as there are a variety of sections including a young adult collection, adult collection, children s collection, and a supreme court collection. The cupola s along the barn ridge will be penetrated with windows to allow sun to penetrate and light the interior. The exterior will be natural wood with dark wood accents and trims.
