5 Overview_ A place of luxury and unique history 6 A place of luxury and unique history Once a farm belonging to the Minoresses of St Clare and farmed by Trolop and later Goodman, the area has many stories to tell. Originally Goodman bought the land, giving his name to Goodman s Fields. He kept many milking cows; while his son let a portion of the land for grazing horses. Horses have always featured prominently in London s history throughout the ages, at Goodman s Fields the association continues with a planned sculpture of galloping horses sited in the main plaza. It was here as a direct result of the infamous Dick Turpin stealing a horse from Captain Tom King and stabling it at the then Red Lion Inn of Whitechapel, that a protracted shootout ensued between these two individuals.
