2 Surface Materials & Street Furniture Strategy Surface Materials Strategy The paving materials for Fenwick Place have been selected to provide a high quality finish in natural stone that complements the natural stone materials approved under Phase 1AN for the Living Bridge, while also reflecting the warmer tones of the buildings which front onto this key space. A selection of granite slabs and setts in 3 tones are proposed which will be used to create a subtle ripple effect through the space, helping to define seating areas and to focus movement towards the main entrances. 4 Street Furniture Strategy The street furniture strategy has been developed to ensure that there is generous provision for seating in a variety of locations and settings. Eastern MSCP Materials have been selected to complement those approved for the Living Bridge under the Phase 1AN application to ensure a commonality between the key public spaces across the scheme. Slatted timber benches set within the planters are complemented by bespoke seats and pebble seats reflecting the riparian themes of the key spaces at ground level. Light masts within the planting beds provide a vertical framework to the space, and in the central paved areas, provide a focal point to views from the east. 6 Pedestrian & Inclusive Access Pedestrian and Inclusive Access The proposals for Phase 1BN have been developed to ensure that there is optimum access for all. Reference should be made to the BXC Inclusive Access Strategy (Condition 1.26). The average gradients along the perimeter road are 1: in 50 which are consented under the 1A North reserved matters. The remainder of the area is level or warped graded where the level area meets the sloped perimeter pavement. There is seating distributed through the space which includes the provision of inclusive seating options and seating with arm and back rests. There is cycle parking adjacent to the space, which will integrate provision of non-standard cycles and promote inclusive cycling in accordance with TfL s design guidance. The taxi drop-off area is provided with a traditional kerb and designed in accordance with TfL standards. The drop-off will facilitate the deployment of Black Cabs ramps to provide access for wheelchair users..
