3 2017 Neighborhood Assessment Report The Neighborhood Roundtable, which first convened in 2002, celebrates 15 years of victories. These victories have been achieved by grassroot leaders hailing from over 20 neighborhoods in combating the problem of vacant and abandoned properties. These leaders gather to share current activities, successes and ongoing challenges. 16 th Neighborhood Assessment Report From 2002 to 2016, your Assessment Report has profiled 822 properties from 20 different neighborhoods. A strong partnership between grassroot neighborhood leaders and Louisville Metro Government have caused these properties to remain in the community s spotlight. In this report, 50 properties are profiled. Of these 50 properties, 15 have delinquent property taxes. The total amount of unpaid property taxes for the properties in this report is $442,090.07, and many of these properties have previous years taxes that have been sold to third parties. There is a total of 358 open violations for the 50 properties. The total citation amount owed for all the properties in the report is $582,747. The Neighborhood Assessment report allows neighborhood leaders to identify which properties are the most problematic. The Neighborhood Roundtable put out a call for properties in the beginning of October 2017, asking leaders from around the city to give us their most egregious offenders in terms of vacant and abandoned properties. According to the Vacant and Public Property Administration Department within Develop Louisville, there are over 4,400 vacant or abandoned properties in Jefferson County. The number of vacant or abandoned properties has decreased since this report was done last year, when there were 5,000. New Directions is honored to compile this report. Neighborhood Roundtable and the Neighborhood Assessment Report are part of New Directions Housing Corporations strategy to support grassroots revitalization,.
