8 Produced by KNMI GOME-2 Aerosol Product Baseline content: Absorbing Aerosol Index Target product based on GOME-2 PMDs (Polarization Measurement Devices) VS activity of Otto Hasekamp, SRON Currently developing fast algoritm based on lookup tables. 17 standard aerosol models, model that yields best fit is selected Ocean: retrieval of optical thickness and oceanic pigment concentration. Land: retrieval of optical thickness and UV surface albedo (only UV bands are used). PMD calibration is expected to improve Figure: Estimated standard deviation in the optical thickness retrieved from the science channel intensity measurements (dashed line) and from the PMDs (solid line) as a function of solar zenith angle (SZA).

13 Cooperation with other SAFs Two federated (inter-saf) activities have been included in CDOP work packages Federated activity on Atmospheric Water Vapour O3M SAF, CM SAF and GRAS SAF Consistent time-series of total and vertically resolved water vapour estimates from the Metop instruments: GOME-2, GRAS, IASI, MHS, ATOVS Determination of aerosol parameters from SEVIRI on MSG and GOME- 2/AVHRR on Metop O3M SAF and CM SAF Exploit synergy between GOME-2/Metop, AVHRR/Metop and SEVIRI/MSG on aerosol retrieval In addition, funding has been reserved for future activities, emerging during the CDOP
