8 Produced by KNMI GOME-2 Aerosol Product Baseline content: Absorbing Aerosol Index Target product based on GOME-2 PMDs (Polarization Measurement Devices) VS activity of Otto Hasekamp, SRON Currently developing fast algoritm based on lookup tables. 17 standard aerosol models, model that yields best fit is selected Ocean: retrieval of optical thickness and oceanic pigment concentration. Land: retrieval of optical thickness and UV surface albedo (only UV bands are used). PMD calibration is expected to improve Figure: Estimated standard deviation in the optical thickness retrieved from the science channel intensity measurements (dashed line) and from the PMDs (solid line) as a function of solar zenith angle (SZA).
