Once the infrastructure assets are established, it needs proper O&M. ULBs need more technical & manpower support to efficiently handle the proposed infrastructures. Private Sector participation in O&M has proved to be more efficient & effective in various urban infrastructure components like water supply. Therefore the project explore the same. Project Viability Concept is to provide an opportunity for that segment of society who play games/sports for entertainment, fun, and rejuvenation rather than take games as career. A place where families come and the few members of the family plays a game of tennis/golf/squash or a swim while the other members mainly wife and kids can also hang around in the food court, club house, etc. The project will have a sports zone, which includes 18 hole Golf course, lawn tennis academy, playing field, etc. Utility zone including kitchen, clubhouse for golf and finally Entertainment zone which includes food courts, health spa centre & sport medical clinic, fun sports like scuba diving, bowling alley, etc. All the sports infrastructure available in the city is more sports oriented, a centre where families come and the few members of the family plays a game of tennis/golf/squash or a swim while the other members mainly wife and kids can also hang around in the food court, club house, etc. Thus, an entire family entertainment centre. Name of the Project Waterfront Development in Karnataka 1.1 Sector & Sub Sector name (Infra policy 07) 1.2 Description of the Project 1.3 Components of the project 1.4 Justification for the project (Public Need) Sector Sub sector : Tourism : Amusement, Entertainment, Theme Park Waterfronts could serve as places of recreation and social interaction for residents and visitors. Waterfront development could be alongside rivers, lakes or sea, based on the source of water available in a city. The creation of a waterfront would help transform an otherwise underutilized area into a booming centre of tourism, culture, leisure and business. Recreational amenities/entertainment, park area, commercial complex, landscaping, hardscaping (paths, seating facilities, pergolas & shelters) and river conservation. The Projects adds to the entertainment value for the local & Visiting population in addition to improving the local economy 1.5 Places of Study Shimoga, Bagalkot, Hospet, Udupi, Gokarna, Bhadravathi, Belgaum, Karwar, Kundapur and Srirangapatna. 2. Project Viability Shimoga was selected as an illustrative town for project implementation. Name of the Project Implementation of Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management System in Tumkur, Karnataka 1.1 Sector & Sub Sector name (Infra policy 07) 1.2 Description of the Project 1.3 Components of the project 1.4 Justification for the project (Public Need) Municipal Sector Tumkur city is plagued by the issues pertaining to the municipal solid waste management which include low quality services, no segregation of waste, multiple handling of waste, hygiene issues and non availability of equipments and trained manpower. It is proposed to develop a integrated municipal solid waste management system including primary and secondary collection, treatment and disposal of municipal solid waste. Primary and secondary collection system Compost facility Sanitary landfill facility The proposed project is a mandatory obligation of ULB as per State Policy and MSW Rules The proposed project would reduce the impact on environment and arrest potential health hazards. 1.5 Places of Study Tumkur 2. Project Viability The project is not viable on a standalone basis and financial assistance would be required towards the Project by TCMC to the private operator. Way Forward TMC would need to identify SHGs for carrying out primary collection activities in the balance wards in the city. TMC would need to obtain necessary approval for the Project from its Council and other government agencies concerned. Procurement documents and tender documents for identification of the private operator would need to be prepared. Assess the storage facilities available in the state vis à vis their capacity utilization levels. Assess the need for establishing additional storage and distribution centers in the state. Identify suitable locations for setting up storage/ distribution centers in the state based on the need assessment. 1.3 Components of the project Storage capacity analysis of key storage players. Considering the current economic, industrial and export performance of the state and the proposed development projects in the state, the key objectives of the Study are as follows: Review of various industrial growth corridors in Karnataka and appraisal of suitable locations for development of Logistics hubs. Preliminary assessment of potential based on a study of Market & Demand Profile. Study of Transportation linkages and connectivity (road, rail, port, airport) Study of various policies and institutional frameworks. Name of the Project Urban Entertainment Centers in Major Cities of Karnataka 1.1 Sector & Sub Sector name (Infra policy 07) 1.2 Description of the Project 1.3 Components of the project 1.4 Justification for the project (Public Need) Tourism, Entertainment The project was to carry out a feasibility study for developing Urban Entertainment Centers in major cities in Karnataka. The project involved understanding the sector, legal framework for developing a UEC, financial analysis and project structure. It would increase tourism facilities and in turn, tourism in the State. 1.5 Places of Study The study was carried out specific to the city of Mysore. 2. The study is to explore the possibility to work in close partnership with the private sector in protection, conservation and sustainable management of lakes. 1.3 Components of the project 1.4 Justification for the project (Public Need) Project concept, market assessment, statutory and legal framework, Environment and social impact, Project financial analysis and operating framework Lakes being major sources of accessible fresh water; require well planned, sustainable and scientific efforts to prevent their degradation. 1.5 Places of Study The indicative model is for a lake of 50 acres in area and commercial activities in the area of 2 acres. 2. The project is aimed to decongest the area with good planning and adding high end infrastructure and to rejuvenate the petta area and restore its heritage character. In the project various options of development has been analyzed focusing the revision of land use pattern and proper planning of area. The project comprises study of various development options, assessment of environmental & social impact, understanding legal framework, estimating project financials and analyzing operating framework. Revitalization of Petta area would lead to economic efficiency of the area, promotion of trade & tourism, employment creation, poverty reduction and strengthening of civic and National pride. 2. The uniqueness of each location and the indicative infrastructure cost that would need to be invested was estimated.
