1 Memorandum Date: March 8, 2018 To: From: Subject: Cypress High School Community Patricia Neely Director, Facilities Planning, Design, Construction Measure H Cypress High School Site Improvement Project Dear Cypress High School Community, On March 6, 2018 the Board of Trustees of the Anaheim Union High School District awarded the contract for the Cypress High School Site Improvement project to Balfour Beatty Construction. This Measure H project will not only transform the core of the campus but it will also address the reconstruction of the north parking lot for improved pedestrian and vehicular flow, and safety. The contract has a start date of March 19, 2018, but actual construction will take place towards the end of the month. The contractor will take advantage of the school s spring break to mobilize construction trailers and to set up the material/equipment lay down areas. Following are highlights of the scope of work and the project s construction schedule. Scope of Work Complete overhaul of the north parking lot. The work includes replacement of 190,000 square feet of asphalt, reconfiguration of the parking lot to improve vehicular and pedestrian flow; Electrical conduit for upcoming solar carport structures throughout the north parking lot; North parking lot entrance monument; Streetscape improvements along Valley View Street to include drought tolerant landscaping and water-wise irrigation; Off-site work to align driveway approaches with a new city provided signalized intersection. Alignment of the traffic light with the center driveway will improve traffic flow in and out of the north parking lot and it will facilitate left turns;

2 Improvements to the 86,000 square foot quad including hardscape, landscape, site furniture, five shade structures and a covered band stage; Security fencing throughout the campus including at the property line along Oak Knoll Park; Exterior lighting; Renovation of the existing pool including installation of spectator seating and shade shelters; Replacement of site utilities within the student quad. Please refer to the following site plan and renderings for further scope information. 5 Construction Schedule Construction start date is March 19, Overall project duration is 365 consecutive calendar days. The anticipated substantial completion date is March Project Phasing: PHASE 1 Upper Half of the Quad Area: 03/19/18 thru 07/31/18 PHASE 1a North Side of Main Parking Lot: 03/19/18 thru 06/27/18 PHASE 2 Lower Half of the Quad Area: 05/28/18 thru 03/18/19 PHASE 2a South Side of Main Parking Lot and Horse Shoe Area: 05/26/18 thru 08/07/18 POOL RENOVATION AREA: 03/19/18 thru 03/18/19 CONTRACTOR LAY DOWN AREA: 03/19/18 thru 03/18/19 Please refer to the attached site plan(s) depicting the Evacuation Plan and internal/external Path of Travel that will be implemented during construction, and specific project phasing information. There will be many challenges along the way but the project team will be ready to address them diligently to avoid disruption to the instructional program. Construction updates to the campus community will be provided on a regular basis by way of memorandum, social media or by postings on our website at. The construction management team from Cumming Corporation will be stationed onsite to track the daily progress of the work and to promptly address any operational issues inherent to an active campus undergoing construction.
