The village is mentioned in the Domesday book and has many period houses and cottages. The property Stream Farm is a fine Grade II Sussex farmhouse believed to date from circa 1520 with later additions. The property is understood to have been an Iron Master s house and it is thought that a dwelling has stood on the site since the Bronze Age. The property has external elevations of brick, part tile hung with some exposed timbers and plaster infill, all under a mainly pitched tile roof.
