3 An Introduction The Middle East Cleaning Technology Week (MECTW) is the region s first ever global forum that unites the cleaning and hygiene industry, conceptualised with the objective of focusing attention on creating a sustainable future by bringing all facets of the cleaning industry under a single umbrella. It is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, of achieving sustainable development throughout the country. The show is a platform to promote scientific cleaning practices, innovations, technologies and services to potential buyers in the MENA region, bringing together leaders from the cleaning & hygiene, laundry & dry cleaning and car wash & car care industries through three trade shows, conferences, awards and associated events. Having successfully debuted in 2015, MECTW witnessed around 5,000 visitors and more than 160 exhibitors across the three verticals Clean Middle East Pulire (CMEP), Gulf Laundrex-Linen Care Expo and Gulf Car Wash-Car Care Expo. 4 At MECTW 2016 Increased Space Special Pavilions Outdoor Demo Area The overall space has been increased by 30%. Gulf Car Wash-Car Care Expo 2016 and Gulf Laundrex-Linen Care Expo 2016 have seen a 100% increase in space. The 4th edition of CMEP will include special pavilions for Waste Management, Sewerage and Sanitation and Specialised Cleaning. There will be an Outdoor Demo Area showcasing larger waste collection and sweeping equipment. 3 Awards Ceremonies 3 Conferences MECTW Connect The event will host three award ceremonies dedicated to the cleaning industry. MECTW 2016 is a direct response to the dynamic changes in the Middle East and UAE markets: In 2016, it has been projected that the GCC economies will grow by 3.7% despite shrinking oil revenues. The Middle East is counted amongst the world s largest waste producers and a major market for companies providing waste management, sewerage treatment, water purification and sanitation services and relevant technology. Middle East s automotive market is expected to grow twice as fast as North American and Western European markets by 2022; the demand for car wash and car care services in the region is bound to increase alongside. A report by Jones Lang LaSalle reports that the UAE s thriving hospitality and healthcare sectors are on a rise with an additional 20,000 new hotel rooms scheduled to be added to the existing 80,000 dwelling spaces. Dubai's retail sales, which rose by seven per cent in 2015, are estimated to increase further, driven by rising tourist numbers. Dubai's real estate market is also doing well with foreign investment pouring in. Finally, government and private sectors spending ahead of Expo 2020 will also be growth drivers in the region, providing further impetus to the show. 8

26 AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS The Excellence Awards recognises the importance of cleaning attendants in the hospitality, facilities management, laundry, and car wash industries who are looked upon as assets across the cleaning world. Clean Middle East Pulire Expo in collaboration with the UAE Professional Housekeepers Group has consistently recognised unsung heroes from these industries since three years through the Excellence Awards, which are a one-of-a-kind concept that recognises and lauds The Difference Makers in the industry. Unsung City Cleaning Heroes Awards MECTW will once again play host to the Unsung Cleaning Heroes Awards a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region launched in 2015 in recognition of the dedicated services provided by the outdoor cleaning staff in the UAE.
