7 Wireless Up Flashing means the UC-351GH has acquired an IP address on the wireless network (e.g. GPRS/3G). Solid means the UC-351GH is registered on the UltraAgent network over its wireless interface. SSx Wireless signal strength indicators, refer to Table 2 in section 6. Ethernet Flashing means the Ethernet port is detecting traffic, Solid means the Ethernet Port is connected to the LAN Selecting the Mounting Location When surveying the site, please remember that the UC-351GH operates in a similar way to an ordinary mobile telephone, therefore any restrictions on the use of mobile telephones in the area will also apply to the UC-351GH. Install the UC-351GH in such a way that a separation of at least 3 meters is maintained from any other Radio sources. The phone line from the exchange is connected to the PSTN LINE port of J400; the line connected to the premises phones is connected to the Phone port of J400. If an Alarm Panel is already connected to the telephone line, disconnect the line and reconnect it to the UC-351GH s dial capture port (J1000). Mounting the UC-351GH Important: Ensure the alarm system is powered down (switch off mains power and disconnect the battery) before starting the installation. Use the four adhesive stand-offs supplied to attach the UC-351GH unit to the inside surface of the lid or to a convenient location inside the main enclosure. Ensure that the surface to which the stand-offs are to be attached is flat and free of dust or grease. Insert the four adhesive stand-offs into the four mounting holes. Peel off the paper covering the adhesive pad and firmly attach the pad to the surface at the chosen location. Phone Line Connection The UC-351GH supports mode-3 cabling. Ethernet Connection Run an RJ45 cable from a convenient network connection to the UC-351GH unit's Ethernet connector, J600. The UC-351GH unit s Ethernet port autosenses, so that either a straight-through or cross-over Ethernet cable can be used. Only ready-made, certified cables should be used when connecting the UC-351GH unit to network equipment. If cabling has to be made on site then testing and certification to EN Class D should be performed. Failure to use certified network cabling can lead to intermittent and spurious faults that are difficult to trace without specialist equipment. Installation Manual Page 7 of 25 All rights reserved.

8 Power Connection (J800) Ensure power is off when cabling the power connectors. If the ASIAL panel is powering the UC- 351GH use terminal J1501 for the power connection (See Alarm Panel Connection below for further details). For all other instances the power connection is via screw terminal J800. Connect the +12V to the terminal labelled +V (PIN 1 of J800), and 0V to the terminal labelled 0V (PIN 2 of J800). The power wiring must be less than 3m in length and use wires having a core area of at least 1mm 2. Battery Connection (J401) The UC-351GH is equipped with a battery charging circuit. If the primary power supply is removed the UC-351GH will be powered from the connected battery. When the power supply is connected the battery will be charged from the primary power connection. Antenna A magnetically attached whip antenna is provided. It must be mounted indoors, on a flat horizontal surface, sufficiently close that it can be connected to the UC-351GH. The base of the antenna is equipped with a strong magnet which will attach firmly to any ferrous surface such as the top of the alarm panel enclosure (see Figure 3 ). Run the antenna cable to the UC-351GH via an existing knock-out or make a suitable hole, (typically 11mm diameter) in the top of the enclosure. Prevent metal filings and shavings from entering the enclosure as it could cause internal short circuits. Remove any burrs from the hole, pass the RF cable through it and place the antenna in position. Do not permanently fix the antenna until a Signal Strength Test has been performed. Figure 3 Antenna Mounting Extension Antenna A high gain antenna with an extension cable can be used in the event that the Receive Signal strength at the location is inadequate, and changing locations is not an option. General Purpose Pins To interface to a panel with dry contact alarm outputs, connect the alarm panel outputs to the UC-351GH pin terminals on J1300 and J1301. Pins 1-8 are general purpose inputs and will raise E/R323 alarms on zones 901 to 908. Pins 9-16 have specific purposes as follows:: Input 9: Vibration Sensor Input Input 10: Vibration Sensor Gnd Input 11: Vibration Sensor Pwr Input 12: Tamper Input Input 13: Tamper Gnd Input 14: Unused Installation Manual Page 8 of 25 All rights reserved.

11 5 Configuring the UC-351GH Important Note: Always check the Quick Installation Guide if provided before changing UC-351G configuration. Methods for configuration There are two methods available to configure the UC-351GH. The UC-351GH can be configured with either a DTMF phone or with the web console. Method 1. Configuration with DTMF Phone Initial Power-Up 1. Prepare wiring as described in Section For initial power-up and configuration, the following minimum connections are required: A. DC Power B. Antenna (for wireless operation) 3. During start-up, two headers on the UC- 351GH allow configuration: * J902 Learn Header * J903 Config Header Either or both headers can be shorted. If both headers are shorted the UC-351GH will perform PIN learning first, followed by DTMF configuration. The procedures are described below. Learning Procedure for PINS and Initial Power-On Please note that if the PINs are not used then the LEARN procedure will not need to be undertaken. 1. Short out Learn header J902 with a link. 2. Power up or power-cycle the unit. 3. Wait around 30 seconds until the LED s flash in the learn ready pattern (left to right scrolling pattern). 4. Connect all 16 dry alarm inputs in the Normal state (ensure that alarm input 4 is in the closed state for RPS. See section 4) 5. Remove the header from J902. The UC-351GH will flash all LED s off-on-off to indicate learning has completed and will store this information in non-volatile memory. The boot sequence will then continue. Configuring the UC-351GH with a DTMF Phone 1. Ensure you have a DTMF phone connected to the UC-351GH unit s alarm panel dial capture input port (J1000 PINs 1 and 2). 2. Power up or power-cycle the unit with the Configuration header J903 shorted with a link. 3. Around 30 seconds after power on (or just after the learning procedure has completed if being done), the LEDs will flash for a period of 20 seconds. During this time lift the telephone receiver, receive dial tone and press the '#' key to enter Installer Mode. The UC-351GH requires the following minimum parameters to be entered in order to connect to the UltraSec network. 14 Method 2. Advanced Set-up by Web Browser Initial Power-Up 1. Prepare wiring as described in Section For initial power-up and configuration, the following minimum connections are required: C. DC Power D. Antenna (for wireless operation) 3. During start-up, two headers on the UC- 351GH allow configuration: * J902 Learn Header * J903 Config Header Either or both headers can be shorted. If both headers are shorted the UC-351GH will perform PIN learning first, followed by web configuration. Configuring the UC-351GH with the Web Console The UC-351GH s management console is available at only when the Configuration header, J903, is shorted. Note that the UC-351GH does not run a DHCP server, so you must configure the PC with a static address on the same subnet as the UC- 351GH. For example, configuring the PC to have IP address would allow connection to the UC-351GH. Once connected, surf to the Quick start link (see Figure 4). From here you can configure: Account number This is the number used to identify the site in UHS network. DRN / Agency ID This identifies the agency in the UHS network. 16 6 Network Registration and Commissioning Remove Short on Config Header If Config Header (J903) is shorted, the UC- 351GH will not attempt to register on the UltraAgent network. The header short should be removed once configuration is complete. Network Registration On startup, the UC-351GH will immediately attempt to register on UHS UltraAgent network with all available interfaces: - GPRS/3G - Internet If either the Wireline or Wireless network connection is available (i.e. respective LED is flashing), but does not become solid for 30 seconds, then the UC-351GH is not registering with the UHS UltraAgent network server. This could be due to an error in activation. Contact UHS Helpline for assistance. Signal Strength Test LEDs SS1,SS2 and SS3 provide a signal strength indication. Signal strength is indicated as shown in the following table. A signal strength test can be run at any time by shorting the Config header. Note that communications with the network server and alarm transmission will cease while in Installer mode. SIG3 SIG2 SIG1 Signal Strength Off Off Off No reading available (eg modem is being reset) Off Off FLASH Attempting to register on network Off Off On <-89dBm Unacceptable Off FLASH On -89dBm to -83dBm Acceptable Off On On -83dBm to 77dbm Good FLASH On On -77dBm to -70dBm Very Good On On On > -70dBm Excellent Table 2 Wireless Signal Strength Commissioning Once the UC-351GH is registered with the UHS UltraAgent network, perform the following tests: 1. Send an alarm from one of the alarm inputs on the UC-351GH. Check with the Automation System that the alarm has been received over the GPRS path and the IP path. 2. Send a set of alarms from the alarm panel. Check with the Automation System that the alarms are received over the GPRS/3G path and the IP path. If the Automation System receives a Bad Checksum Error or Panel Type Mismatch Error, the panel is not transmitting in the format expected by the UC-351GH. 3. Disable the GPRS/3G interface. Send a set of alarms from the alarm panel. Check with the Automation System that these are received over the wireline path. Installation Manual Page 16 of 25 All rights reserved.

17 7 Com IP Com IP enables secure, remote download to the alarm panel over a GPRS/3G or IP connection. Figure 5 shows the key network elements. GPRS/3G UltraAgent Servers Dial Capture Alarm Panel (Concept/ Challenger) UltraConnect WA N UC UAR Monitoring Software UC UAR Server (Titan/ Wdirect) Figure 5 - Com IP Example The process for Panel downloads utilizing Com IP is as follows. 1. The UC-372-UAR emulates a modem and receives a request from the Server to establish a session with the alarm panel. 2. The UC-372-UAR receives this request and establishes a session with the UltraConnect over the WAN. 3. The UltraConnect at the client site calls the Alarm Panel over the Dial Capture or Serial Interface and mimics a modem establishing a download session. 4. Once the call has been established the link between the Server and the Alarm Panel is complete and the software will be downloaded. For the Com IP functionality to work the Virtual Tunnel information on the UC-372-UAR must be correctly configured and the UC-372-UAR must have access to the UltraAgent Servers. For access to the UltraAgent Servers, ports may need to be opened on firewalls between the UltraAgent Servers and UC-372-UAR. At the time of writing this manual the Virtual Tunnel uses port 9091 and the TCP protocol. Installation Manual Page 17 of 25 All rights reserved.
