7 Greenhill School, fire safety presentations and apparatus demo to summer camp program and lower school, 58 adults and 118 children Other activities and community events Held annual 9/11 Patriot s Day ceremony recognizing the 15 th anniversary. Retired FDNY Firefighters and 911 Survivors, Jeff Cool and John Walters were present. Hosted the annual FD open house, but combined with PD for a larger event and changed the venue to Station 1, over 250 attendees! Hosted annual Thanksgiving luncheon and quarterly employee recognition ceremony Town employees and the Addison Firefighters participated with the Marine Corp Reserve in the Toys for Tots campaign collecting over 30 large boxes, 20 bags of toys and 33 bikes! Personnel collected toys, food and cash for those in need participating in several social programs for the elderly and others in need for the Christmas holidays, including the Mercedes Project. Held the department s annual awards ceremony; FEO Zach Crase named Firefighter of the Year and FF/PM Adam Montgomery named Paramedic of the Year AFD Exemplary Action Awards for life saving actions presented to BJ s employee Emergency Management Special event emergency planning and table top reviews prior to each large event Provided severe weather forecast and warnings throughout the year Attended the Regional Emergency Management summary of the Rowlett Tornado incident from Dec 2015 Attended the Dallas Love Field Table Top Exercise and Planning Meeting Federal Siren outdoor warning system installed and tested icall for siren activation was set up; also ability to activate from specific PCs Attended Partners in Preparedness: Severe Weather Planning and Response course Attended Weather and Emergency Management Training Session Arlington, TX EOC Operation observation in Rowlett as part of the Big Ex regional exercise Attended Emergency Sheltering meeting Moved the Dallas y Emergency Plan Outdoor Warning Sirens upgraded to Federal system with remote activation.
