1 Noise & Vibration (Barrie Corridor) When new infrastructure is built, Metrolinx undertakes a Noise and Vibration Modelling study to determine baseline conditions as well as assess potential impacts once the infrastructure has been built. Based on the results of the study for the Barrie Corridor, noise mitigation is recommended at select locations. Please see Noise Mitigation Roll Plans (example provided below) displayed for a more detailed overview of the proposed noise mitigation locations along the Barrie corridor. Noise related to existing and future service is a concern that we have heard across the region, so we are committed to looking at any changes that can be made to reduce noise for our neighbours. The need for vibration mitigation (e.g., ballast mats, etc.) has also been identified at a few locations.
2 Barrie Corridor Electrification Infrastructure Approximately 96 km of electrified corridor One Hydro One Tap location o Allandale Tap One Traction Power Substation o Allandale TPS 25kV feeder route One Switching Station o Newmarket SWS Two Paralleling Stations o Maple PS o Gilford PS
3 Barrie Corridor Bridge Modifications Along Barrie Corridor there is a total of: 10 road bridges over rail; and 1 pedestrian bridges over rail. Bridges over the rail corridors will require bridge barriers for safety In order for trains and the electrification wires to meet the clearance requirements under Dundas Street and Highway 401 Bridges, an engineering solution is required to increase the distance between the top of track and bottom of the bridge. Dundas Street Bridge Highway 401Bridge Innes Ave. Pedestrian Bridge will require barriers. The addition of the barriers could make the bridge structurally unsound. Therefore these bridges will need to be structurally reinforced or replaced. Innes Ave. Pedestrian Bridge Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports are being completed for several bridges to identify heritage value. Bridges identified as heritage will have Heritage Impact Assessments completed to protect heritage features.
4 Allandale Tap/Traction Power Substation The Allandale Tap/TPS is to be located on a parcel of land situated at the northwest corner of Patterson Road and the Barrie-Collingwood Rail corridor in Barrie. The proposed conceptual layout/positioning of the TPS, is an L shaped configuration that affects three property parcels. The tap parcel is currently a vacant lot with industrial facilities to the immediate north, east and west. To the south, on the opposite side of the railroad, there are residential homes. The parcel is owned by Hydro One The TPS parcels currently consist of commercial buildings, parking lots, storage areas and vegetation. The parcels are privately owned. The Allandale feeder route will commence at the Allandale TPS location and will run east along the Barrie-Collingwood Railway (BCRY) ROW under Highway 400 to the termination limit of electrification on the Barrie Corridor (i.e. Allandale Waterfront GO Station) The feeder route along the BCRY ROW will either be aerial wires or underground duct banks. This will be confirmed during detail design. The BCRY is not owned by Metrolinx.
5 Newmarket Switching Station 590 Steven Court Newmarket, east of the rail corridor and south of Mulock Dr The Newmarket SWS is to be located on parcel of land at 590 Steven Court in Newmarket. The northern portion of the parcel is currently a public utility building (Newmarket Hydro) and associated parking lot/storage area. The southern portion is open space with some trees and manicured grass. The parcel is surrounded by industrial buildings, with a hydro corridor to the west. The proposed positioning of the SWS facility is located in the southern portion of the parcel, and is currently open space/vegetation. Current conditions at the proposed Newmarket Switching Station site. Proposed access to the site is off of Steven Court. The site is privately owned.
6 Maple Paralleling Station Vaughan, adjacent to the rail corridor, west side of Keele St, north of Teston Rd The Maple PS site is to be located on a parcel of land along the west side of Keele Street, north of Teston Road in Vaughan. The site is surrounded by industrial development to the east and agriculture to the north and west. The proposed positioning of the PS facility is located in the southern portion of the triangular parcel, adjacent to the rail corridor. It is currently a vacant lot with active agricultural. Proposed access to the site is off of Keele Street, utilizing an existing farm access. Current conditions at the proposed Maple Paralleling Station site. The property is privately owned.
7 Gilford Paralleling Station Southeast corner of Gilford Rd and the rail corridor, Innisfil The Gilford PS site is to be located on a parcel of land along the east side of Barrie Corridor, south of Gilford Road in Innisfil. The site has residential homes to the north and east and vacant lots to the west with vegetation and trees. The proposed positioning of the PS facility is located in the northern portion of the parcel, adjacent to the rail corridor. It is currently a vacant lot with vegetation. Proposed access to the site is off of Gilford Road. The property is currently owned by Metrolinx. Current conditions at the proposed Gilford Paralleling Station site.
