1 Your Guide to Your New Site Congratulations on obtaining a position on the Graduate Leadership Programme at Morgan Advanced Materials. We are sure that you are both excited and nervous to start and you probably have some questions about where you will be working, so here s a little guide to make everything a little clearer. 2 THE STOURPORT SITE Stourport is a manufacturing site that belongs to the Seals & Bearings division in the Morgan family. It specialises in producing advanced ceramic components in a range of materials and processing technics. Many of those products go into pumps, cable insulators, ablation tips, etc. that have been used in industrial, petrochemical and medical markets. Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for structural ceramics is also located in the Stourport facility, as well as other global business units, such as Marketing, Finance and IT. What to expect on your first day On your first day you will meet your new team and be shown around your department. You will also be given a full introduction to the company, which will include a site tour, spending time in the factory, and inductions with HR, IT and EH&S (Environmental, Health and Safety). During the week your manager will run through what is expected of you throughout the year, go into more details about the projects you will be working on and will set your objectives. Dress Code: Day-to-day the dress code is business casual - this means smart trousers and a shirt/jumper for gents (not suit and tie) and smart trousers/skirt for ladies (again not a suit). If you are attending a meeting or presenting then check with your line manager if you need to wear more formal attire.
3 LOCAL AREA: Stourport is a small tourist town situated in Worcestershire in the West Midlands. It comprises of a handful of local shops, bakeries, supermarkets and an amusement centre. Nearby cities/towns include: Bewedley Kidderminster Worcester Birmingham Stourport is a 25 minute drive from Worcester and a 40 minute drive to Birmingham and is within easy access of both the M5 and M42. The bus network around Stourport covers all local areas, including both Birmingham and Worcester. Bus timetables are available from The nearest train station is located in Kidderminster, which is easily accessible by both car and public transport, with trains running regularly to Worcester and Birmingham where you can get trains to London. There is also a direct train operated by Chiltern railways from Kidderminster to London Marylebone. The nearest airport is Birmingham International Airport which is easily accessible by train or by car. Finding somewhere to live... We understand that relocating can be difficult, especially when moving to a completely new place. Therefore to help you we have put together a list of estate agencies, websites and recommendations, which will hopefully make relocating a whole lot easier. Unfortunately there is no cinema in Stourport but don t worry there are plenty in the nearby towns: Reel Cinema- Kidderminster Odeon - Worcester Vue - Worcester SHOPPING Nearby shopping centres and which towns they are in: Bull Ring (Birmingham) Merry Hill (Dudley) Mailbox (Birmingham) Crowngate (Worcester) A NIGHT OUT WITH FRIENDS? There are plenty of places to go out when friends comes to visit, it can be a great night especially with Birmingham around the corner... however If you re looking for something a little more local Worcester and Bewdley have a good range of pubs, clubs and restaurants which are just as good.
